Wow, 9 pounds? That is the third 9+ pound baby I know about that has been born in the past month! My child's friend's mom and teacher both just gave birth to healthy 9 pound babies (one boy and one girl).

Worldwide Medical Insurance News: Beaches 'host infectious diseases'
International travel insurance could be required for a trip to the beach, following research that has shown sand has the potential to harbour dangerous microbes.
The study, which was published in Environmental Science & Technology – the journal for the American Chemical Society – was undertaken by experts at Northern Illinois University and the University of Miami (UM).
It found common sources of bacteria along shorelines are birds, cats and dogs.
Certain microorganisms found at these locations can result in gastrointestinal illnesses, first author of the research and assistant professor in the Public Health Program and Institute for the Study of the Environment, Sustainability & Energy at Northern Illinois University Tomoyuki Shibata said.

Hello all. I've been coming here since the site went up and value your news contributions. But seriously. Sand on the beach is a health hazard? I'd worry more about radioactive waste on the West Coast.
There is really nothing we can do. Even if you prep, take iodine pills, etc. you still have to breathe the air. The Southern Hemisphere is no refuge; they have their own problems (volcanic, earthquakes) and the radiation is going there in the ocean current and air currents, too. We are all in this together.
I am going ahead with some positive plans for this summer. I can't cower in a basement with 'preps' waiting for the inevitable. I already know I wouldn't make it through a long emergency. But then, if the world is in the state it may become, who would want to?

With the substances being poured into our seas, Oil. Corexit, Bratt 4, Radiation inside the earth coming up changing the makeup of everything in the sea and deaths of animals becoming so enormous around the globe, adding in fallout and the changes this will make to our oceans, also adding of oil eaters but the spring breakers are told to enjoy the waters, along with all the death along the shores. Xdrfox, I am moving to a new home and plan to enjoy my summer there. It's on a lake that has had many dumps of heavy water from the nuclear plant nearby (including one on the day after 3/11) There is nothing I can do about that, so I am going to live my life. And no, I don't go in the water. But I still breathe the air.
Apropos for the 100th anniversary of the TITANIC sinking…this is a result of man's hubris, and there are no lifeboats or rescue ships this time around.

i just wanted to say a quick hello here in off topic forum. i have been reading and reposting a lot of enenews. most regular posters seem to me as i have known them for a while now. so a quick hello from the uk. guys do not give up warning, do not let the silence of others dishearten you. it is brilliant that there are people who speak up and do not let it rest just because the main stream media censors or blanks most of the terrible news that still come from japan and especially from fukushima. my wish would be that people, if they can take more photos of anomalies. a friend on the east coast of the united states blogged that the trees have taken an autumn (fall) like appearance which worried me. any detail should be recorded and noted.
because we cannot do anything but register what is going on and we deserve to be treated like grown people and not a herd of stupid sheep. hang in there guys, thank you for informing us, the uninformed masses.

I've created a 3D Fukushima virtual map. It's designed in Unreal (a gaming platform) and it's free .. although it will likely be a 250MByte download.
This will allow you to tour the entire site and surrounds. Get your own perspective on what it all may look like (virtually, of course).
I've been flying around the site and waling into the reactors.. it's close to finished as I go thru now and dress and detail some things.
Hopefully I can finished it off this weekend. If anyone would like to try a beta test run, please leave a note here in the short term and we'll see what can be arranged.

there will be no required programs, i intend to bundle it all into the approx 250Mb package. (well, windows directx, but everyone has that).
basically, if you have a computer that can already run 3d games reasonably well.. then you'll be alright.

i've told no one about it.
it's really a non commercial, not very flash, map.
and i've sourced a lot of material from other authors/artists that were freely available, so i am not into making it commercial.
it's simply a free thing. i'm getting closer to a first release. but it does take time to tweak everything.
it's really an eye opener to fly around in, to scale and all, you realise where everything lays.
and Unreal provide their development kit for free, until you start making money, so, again, it's using free resources for the compilation of it all.

I understand, Richard. I was guessing that someone in the gaming community might do it "pro bono" – someone who cares about such issues – sort of like a Hollywood celebrity might take on an environmental cause. "Garry's Mod" was in the back of my mind.
Even if the companies don't want to get involved, some players of the post-apocalyptic games might like the chance to use it and/or mod it (if you don't mind). Maybe name-drop it in Bethesda's Fallout forums, for instance?
Tell us all when it's ready, and let us know what we can tell the world about it. Hehe… Graphics card forums, VR forums, msm and governments (so they can find Fukushima on a map)….

Mysterious Cattle Deaths Continue in Spasskiy District, Russia
The cause of these deaths remains unknown; however, the activists connect it with a recent gamma irradiation experiment of the seeds in the region. The affected animals develop muscle weakness, start limping, and at the end die.

Just wanted to state here that I come very often to this site and have been since I found enenews way back when.

“I never signed up for him to be tortured, terrorized and abused,” Cheryl McCollins told a jury on Tuesday. “I had no idea, no idea, that they tortured the children in the school.”
In February, we reported Ms. McCollins’ plight and her calling for the public viewing of startling footage of her then 18 year-old son, Andre, receiving 31 electro-shocks at Judge Rotenburg Center for the disabled (JRC) for not removing his jacket.
In 2002, Andre, now 27, had been zapped, restrained, sprawled out face down with a helmet, and shocked another 30 times anytime he flinched or screamed out in pain. The aversive shock “treatment” continued all day with no food, water, or bathroom breaks.
When Cheryl visited her son, he was unresponsive and later rushed to the hospital where he was diagnosed with acute stress response."
McCollins is suing Canton, MA-based JRC and calling the treatment torture. Cheryl wanted the public to see this “therapy” as an unacceptable act of torture.
Of course, JRC fought vigorously to block the video release. A new Superior Court Judge on the case, Judge Barbara Dortch-Okara, refused JRC’s repeated request allowing public-court viewing for the first time.
