Japan’s IMF Pledge Makes It No. 1 Fund Contributor

Japan’s pledge to lend the International Monetary Fund $60 billion as part of its resource drive makes the Asian country the fund’s top contributor, taking the lead from the U.S.

The U.S. was one of the few countries in the Group of 20 largest economies that said it wouldn’t contribute any cash to bolster the IMF’s lending base. Japan, meanwhile, was one of the first non-European countries to commit money to the IMF.

Contd – Ehrman's story of how he discovered some of these internal inconsistencies in the Bible is interesting. He was not raised a fundamentalist Christian but became a fervent convert in his teens – so fervent that he committed large portions of the Bible to memory, & it was in that way that he discovered some of these internal self-contradictions in the Bible – for instance, that some of the books of the Bible – like Mark, Luke, Matthew, etc. – give conflicting accounts of key events in the life of Christ – key events such as birth & resurrection in the tomb, etc.

This fact is interesting for another reason, as it points out that many true believers and scholars have evidently not noticed – or chosen to ignore/over-look – these internal Biblical self-contradictions.

However, just common sense is enough to make one wonder. It (the life of Christ) all happened or allegedly happened so long ago – just that long passage of time in itself casts 'reasonable doubt' upon the credibility of the 'information.' At least that is what I thought even before discovering Ehrman's books.

Ehrman's books are a haven of reasonableness & are very free of rancor, sarcasm, etc.

People seem to have a need for a belief system. This need is exploited by the politically ambitious – the empire builders – which is another big problem I have with metaphysical belief systems in general – in whose name dreadful things have been/are being done – man's inhumanity to man, etc.

Japan leads foreign investment in Binh Duong

BINH DUONG — The southern province of Binh Duong has bucked the economic downturn as well as shrinking foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows into the country by already reaching its annual FDI target for 2012.
In only the first four months of the year, the province surpassed its target of US$1 billion, attracting FDI projects worth US$1.462 billion, mainly from Japanese investors.
The province's achievement compares to the total of $4.267 billion that the country as a whole has attracted in the first four months.
Binh Duong is followed by HCM City and Hai Phong as leading FDI achievers in the country so far this year.
The property sector has attracted most of the FDI inflow into the province. Early this year, among the largest Japanese-invested projects registered in the province were the Tokyu Binh Duong Urban Area Project worth $1.2 billion, a tyre manufacturing plant worth $575 million, a $300 million yarn production plant and a $180 million shipbuilding factory financed by Oshima Shipbuilding Viet Nam.

China cuts bank reserves to revive slowing economy

    http://www.businessweek.com/ap/2012-05/D9UN5NQ00.htm

China's central bank announced Saturday a reduction in the amount of reserves that banks must hold in an effort to spur lending and revive a sharply flagging economy.

The 0.5 percentage point cut in the banks' required reserve by the People's Bank of China starting May 18 frees up billions of dollars for lending. It follows the release of statistics in the past week that showed the economy slowing more rapidly than economists — and perhaps the government — expected.

    TOKYO | Thu May 10, 2012 1:06am EDT
May 10 (Reuters) – Japan's service sector sentiment index fell to 50.9 in April, a Cabinet Office survey showed on Thursday, hurt by wobbly financial markets and worries about Europe's sovereign debt crisis.

The survey of workers such as taxi drivers, hotel workers and restaurant staff – called "economy watchers" for their proximity to consumer and retail trends – showed their confidence about current economic conditions fell from 51.8 in March.

    Japan Flags Move at Intervention
Recovery, Tax Agenda Seen as Priorities

TOKYO—Japanese officials are signaling they could intervene in the currency market if the yen's rise threatens the government's top policy priority: the doubling of the sales tax.

To pass the tax increase, "it is obvious that we need to improve the macroeconomic situation," a senior official said. "That's why measures against deflation and the strong yen are necessary." Opponents of the tax increase say it would be too much of a burden on a fragile economy.

Expats Say Goodbye to Gaijin Card

    By Sarah Berlow

This summer marks the end of an era for foreigners residing in Japan. Starting July 9, the 60-year-old “certificate of alien registration” — the credit-card sized i.d. informally known as “the gaijin card” — will go the way of yakiimo carts, weekly Astroboy broadcasts, and uniformed men punching train tickets.

New residents will instead be given a “residence card” similar to the ones Japanese citizens carry, except for a special marking designating the holder’s nationality. It’s part of a series of amendments to Japanese immigration law designed to create a simpler system for the government, and a way for foreigners to feel, well, slightly less alien.

Japan to purchase F-35 stealth fighters despite price hike

TOKYO, May 14 (Xinhua) — Japan planned to sign a contract with the United States next month for the purchase of four F-35 stealth fighter jets despite a price increase for the aircraft, local media reported Monday.

The fighter jets are set to be delivered before the end of fiscal year 2016 and may cost about 138 million U.S. dollars per unit. The Japanese government is making arrangements with the U.S. for the purchase as part of the budget in the current fiscal year which ends next March.

The Japanese government decided in December to choose the F-35 stealth jet, developed by the United States and eight other countries, as the country's next-generation fighter jet.

Some secrecy needed in trade talks: Ron Kirk

(Reuters) – The United States is being as open as possible about international negotiations to create a nine-nation free trade agreement in the Asia-Pacific region but has to maintain some secrecy in the talks, the top U.S. trade official said.

The new Japan is China. It's an export economy with too much capacity…like Japan in '89.

The new Greece is Spain. It's got mortgage debt up the kazoo…

The new Ireland is the old Ireland. Yes, Ireland is now exporting people again…at the fastest rate since the 19th century.

Our old friend Jim Davidson says the new America is Brazil. But what happened to the old America? It's the new Argentina. Whoa! What a topsy-turvy world! The US is going broke…and going rogue. Just like Argentina in the '80s…

I think the pro Nukers are running scared their money machine is running dry. The more scared they are the worse they attack. I have noticed over the last year that some people complain about Fukushima to get the trust of anit-Nukers. Then they attack the anti Nukers one by one. And with their mumbo jumbo they can never quite come out completely against all forms of nuclear in the future.

For some, politics trumps their concern about the nuclear industry. although they complain about present power, they think they will be in power in the future. Most politicians criticize their opponents to deflect the fact that they are themselves doing the very things they are complaining about.

An international website has people from many different countries. National interests aren't all unified for everyone's good.

Please let us just work on getting rid of all nuclear power plants, facilities, and weapons. We do share the earth and when it is totally destroyed we are all effected and our children especially

Many US political neo-Conservatives are going back to Europe and leaving the US.

Fyi, the only comment report I received was one reporting StillJill's comments. Ironic.

Either way, I think it's best if people who are attacking me and this website stop commenting and leave graciously. Nothing has changed since day one. Good luck…

      ENENews,

There has been a spate of people leaving lately. Maybe xdrfox departing shook me up.

This site has been going for 14 months. The average time in my experience for such a board in its original form lasts for just a few months. So it is well ahead of average.

The problem is that there are two kinds of motives at work here:

      1. The desire to get the message out, political action. No matter if the message leaves out important parts of the story.

      2. The truth at all costs.

I am firmly in camp #2, simply because it's a matter of life and death. I don't trust politics anyway.

There will be dissent either way because these two goals don't always coincide. In fact, there should be dissent, and if there isn't any, then there is a problem.

    It has been found that:

    (1) Earthquakes occur frequently around the minimum years of solar activity. Generally, the earthquake activities are relatively less during the peak value years of solar activity, some say, around the period when magnetic polarity in the solar polar regions is reversed.

    (2) The earthquake frequency in the minimum period of solar activity is closely related to the maximum annual means of sunspot numbers, the maximum annual means of solar 10.7 cm radio flux and solar proton events of a whole solar cycle, and the relation between earthquake and solar proton events is closer than others.
Mitch Battros theorized in 1998 that large solar flares affect Earth's magnetic field, which in turn shifts the oceanic and atmospheric currents, which can cause earthquakes and extreme weather. As Battros summarizes his formula:
Sunspots => Solar Flares (charged particles) => Magnetic Field Shift => Shifting Ocean and Jet Stream Currents => Extreme Weather [including earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes or other extreme natural events]

2nd UPDATE: Japan's Megabanks Post Solid Profit Gains, Sidestep Euro Crisis

TOKYO (Dow Jones)–Japan's three biggest banks posted solid net profits in the last fiscal year ending March, sidestepping the euro-zone debt crisis that has weighed on their peers in the region and elsewhere.

But the results came on the back of by significant gains from selling Japanese government bonds, and bank executives predict that is unlikely to continue through the current fiscal year. While they don't see such hefty JGB holdings as a short-term risk, they acknowledge they need to be better positioned in the longer term in case Japanese interest rates rise amid growing concerns over Europe's debt problems.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. This group is behind the North American Union, NAFTA, CETA & the Keystone Pipeline. They are also behind the reduced regulations that Harper has included in Bill C38 that will destroy our protections of water & land. This group consists of international companies.

Another hidden treasure is Bill C-38 repeals the Fair Wages and Hours of Labour Act. http://404systemerror.com/bill-c-38-repeals-the-fair-wages-and-hours-of-labour-act/

"We have a quaint expression where I come from that “fair wages benefit the whole community”. It is virtuous to have a well-paid, consuming, middle class. It is good for the economy. Driving down the wages of Canadian workers is in no one’s best interest. Members would know that the federal government is one of the largest consumers of construction industry services in the country. This act applied to any construction project contracted by the federal government, including military bases, prisons, ports, banking and telecommunications. The Canada Labour Code, which is the federal labour code, applies to all of those including projects that go across provincial borders. What comes to mind when we think about large projects that might span interprovincial borders are pipelines. We have unearthed now that deep within Bill C-38 the federal government has eliminated the fair wages and working conditions that are found in this act. It…

      Report Comment

      • MaidenHeaven MaidenHeaven

The act also states that contractors, whether unionized or non-unionized, have to pay the prevailing wage. This is usually determined by the Minister of Labour by consulting in that area what a normal prevailing wage would be, not the union scale but somewhere in the same living-wage ballpark. As well, it sets the hours of work, including that no construction worker has to work more than 48 hours without time and a half overtime.

All of that has been eradicated. Now, a contractor can bid on one of these federal jobs and post a job notice saying “Wanted: Carpenters, $8 an hour, 84 hour work week, straight time”. No one will apply for that job, which opens the door to the other side of the coin, to mix a metaphor.

To me the biggest concern re: The North American Union, which at first will appear to be the next best thing to sliced bread. We will have considerably more choice & competition. But these companies are all connected. And as stated all the bailout money for countries in the EU goes 100% to the banks. None of it goes to the citizens. Those costs are payed by the taxpayers. The Elite have decided that they will no longer pay for *our infrastructure. They no longer need *our hospitals, healthcare, schools ect. They live in their own gated communities with their own doctors healthcare, schools ect. It was useful to use our infrastructure to get where they are at today. But tax breaks, reduced regulations & more profit come first as we know.

It is designed to end re-exportation;

…*but it may also inhibit imports from countries outside the customs union and thereby diminish consumer choice and support *Protectionism* of industries based within the customs union*…

Also note that GE plays a part in this entire scam as well as many other well know companies like Walmart & Campbell Soup Company.

And I have only skimmed the surface. CGI is a company that services the databases of both Canadian & American financial, healthcare & military & taxes & insurance companies. As well as several other countries. CGI is among the leading independent information technology and business process services firms in the world.

This is the company that shares your info at customs & also services insurance companies. The conflict interest for the same company that has access to your healthcare, banking & deals with insurance companies. They are members of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives too.

"Cave women in a different light"

IT COULD be cave man pornography. Researchers have discovered illustrations of female anatomy in a rock shelter in France that date back 37,000 years. It is ''the oldest evidence of any kind of graphic imagery''

Whoopie – I hope you see this. I wanted to thank you for posting two quite impressive "go vegan" videos maybe three weeks ago.
I'm a vegetarian for 25 years, and vegan seemed to be too much of a fuss.
Those videos you posted changed my mind and were the tiny "push" I needed.
Currently I'm doing "vegan weekends" for a start, but I'm feeling I want to expand it now.

Thanks again – you did this! :-)

In dark times, read the creed of the Blackfoot Indians
Believe in the beauty and strength our your own being. Forget the foolish belief that you and your fellow human beings were born evil. Those who would control you all the days of your life on earth perpetuate the belief iihtsipaitapiiyo?pa (Source of Life) made things to have a bad spirit.

Live a life of truth and honesty. This makes you a person of quality and dignity. Truth and honesty are the kind of leadership qualities that attracts others.

Give honor and respect to others regardless of age and situation in life. This quality makes you and others worthy of honor and respect, which makes others, feel worthwhile and fulfilled. Honor and respect empowers others so they can win the day. They will return it to you fourfold.

Honor the earth and all that exists. Be strong in this belief and practice it throughout your life because it makes for a world of kindness that binds all the good things of life together in a circle of harmony.

Be humble but not timid. To be humble is to connect yourself to the stars and the entire universe and makes you aware there is something unique about life that is to be enjoyed without fear. We are people from the stars and because of it we are sacred.

Help others realize that life is a dream . . . . A beautiful dream. Dreamers are the butterflies of life and help others to realize their dreams.

Be humorous and help others to enjoy life and the life of others. Humor makes…

    Ron Paul and Freemasonry
“This does not prove anything in that regard, however it makes the probability that he is a Freemason very much higher since Eastern Star members are generally married to Freemason husbands, Rainbow girls are generally children of masons and because Ron Paul’s father was also a mason. And in addition, according to the comment, he “respects the organization”, which is wholly uncharacteristic of anyone who is supposedly fighting against the masonically-inspired New World Order. Ron Paul is also an unofficial member of the John Birch Society, which was founded by masons, funded by Nelson Rockefeller and run by Jesuit-trained Knights of Malta. In other words, the JBS is a gatekeeper organization, designed to control the opposition and make sure nothing substantial is ever done to impede the New World Order system which just keeps on rolling over humanity….”

    It has been found that:

    (1) Earthquakes occur frequently around the minimum years of solar activity. Generally, the earthquake activities are relatively less during the peak value years of solar activity,

The post you left 2 nights ago say earthquakes are less during solar max, and more during solar min.

One thing that may cause more earthquakes in the next few days is Sunday evening when we have a solar eclipse, the sun and moon will be lined up causing larger than normal tides, and possibly earthquakes.

Judge Napolitano: Shoot down a drone, become an American hero

“The first American patriot that shoots down one of these drones that comes too close to his children in his backyard will be an American hero.”

“The Third Amendment, the Fourth Amendment, the Fifth Amendment and the Ninth Amendment were written to guarantee us the right to be left alone … Suddenly the government, silently, from 30, 000 feet above is violating those amendments.”

Even if the next major threat to civil liberties isn’t just on Capitol Hill — but thousands of feet off the ground — Judge Napolitano said this week any American that takes up arms to attack drones is an alright person in his book.

Those are the only people on the planet that should be worried, either. Aside from the continuous deployment of combat drones across the world, surveillance crafts are now making their way north of the border into Canada too.

Australasia has hottest 60 years in a millennium, scientists find
Study of tree rings, corals and ice cores find unnatural spike in temperatures that lines up with manmade climate change
""The models showed that prior to 1850 there were not any long-term trends and temperature variations were likely to be caused by natural climate variability which is a random process," he said.

"But [the modeling showed] 20th-century warming significantly exceeds the amplitude of natural climate variability and demonstrates that the recent warming experience in Australia is unprecedented within the context of the last millennium."
average daily maximum temperatures in Australia have increased by 0.75C since 1910. Since the 1950s each decade has been warmer than the one before it.
