“Trump's AG pick Jeff Sessions didn't disclose oil holdings
    January 10, 2017

“President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general nominee Jeff Sessions didn’t disclose revenue-making oil interests he holds in Alabama, despite federal ethics rules requiring him to do so, an examination of state records shows.
“The conservative Alabama senator owns subsurface rights to fossil fuels spanning more than 600 acres of land in his home state, records obtained by the Washington Post shows. Some of the oil reportedly lies below a federal wildlife preserve.
“’I am troubled by any omissions,’ said Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is set to hold confirmation hearings for Sessions on Tuesday. ’But this is particularly troubling because this ownership interest involves oil and gas holdings connected to a federal wildlife refuge.’

“The holdings only produce roughly $4,700 a year in revenue, but rules set by the Office of Government Ethics unambiguously states that even small assets must be disclosed ahead of confirmation hearings for Cabinet picks….”

'Deutsche Bank Predicts Massive US Economic Growth Under Trump'

"…CNBC cites a Deutsche Bank forecast that claims Trump's economy-boosting agenda could drive 2.4 percent growth in 2017 and 3.6 percent in 2018. Under President Barack Obama, the economy grew by an average of 1.6 percent during his eight years in office.

CNBC noted Obama is the first president since Herbert Hoover who has not overseen the economy grow by at least 3 percent in one year of their administrations.

'Trump – Taxes – World Capital Flows'

"…American citizens cannot open accounts overseas, so the only way to full service our clients worldwide is to go public in Hong Kong due to FATCA. If Trump realizes that FATCA is causing serious problems internationally and repeals that, then we could go public in the USA. So this whole tax issue is absolutely vital and the world economy is trying to balance on the head of a pin right now. The Democrats always propose higher taxes and support Marxist policies, yet never admit that is their model any more than they admit the founder of the Democratic Party, Andrew Jackson, supported slavery."

In the first link, Dutchsinse zooms in on old nuke craters where earthquakes strike the weaken crust of the earth.

Dutchsinse predicts up to an 8.5 might hit near or at coast of Honshu, Japan in the next couple of days… but we might get lucky and just get a bunch of 6 magnitude swarms…

Anyway, still time to restart some NPPs, Japan! The Olympics needs more radioactive DNA scramblers for 2020.

      On the bright side:

The paper bag around FDNPP reactor unit 4 should keep the large chunks contained if there is a tsunami. Any atoms smaller than a few inches in diameter might get through the radiation fence, but what are the odds finding itty bitty atoms? Unit 1 is uncovered so it should get washed off and we won't have to worry about anything but the AWOL core.

      • unincredulous unincredulous

watch the video, he says they just had a deep 4.5 off Japan.
Just an excerpt from the forecast, watch the whole thing, there's a bunch more to his forecast. I don't want to put words in his mouth…

What an alarmist, that Dutch! Who ever heard of an earthquake in Japan?

        • unincredulous unincredulous

Another part of the video says up to a 7.9 quake was being looked for area south of Japan.

Just checked for approaching typhoons. None. Wow. good news. Probably have a volcano at Sendai NPP with our luck.

New Zealand also under alert. Damn, they don't have nuclear plants. I'm sure the nuclear industry is disappointed because they are looking for their finest, finest hour

Big Ag worse than Big Oil in ocean acidification!
THE PROBLEM: We're loosing oxygen…a fact…because 2/3 of it is produced by phytoplankton, faced with death by agriculture!

Big Ag's pesticide and nitrogen-fertilizer run off is causing massive dead zones, and its stripping carbon from the soils, which ends up in the oceans and creates acidification.

In a few decades there won't be much ocean life left as the phytoplankton dies—all because of how we grow food.

SOLUTION: Cool earth and seawater, while removing excess carbon from the sea, by regenerative agriculture.

The Regenerative Agriculture Initiative at California State University, Chico, and the Carbon Underground group have created this concise definition:
"Regenerative Agriculture describes farming and grazing practices that, among other benefits, reverse climate change by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity —resulting in both carbon drawdown and improving the water cycle."

    Facts RE: Climate change survivability.
    – [ ] a) Industrial agriculture is worse than Chevron, Exxon and the entire transportation industry combined
    – [ ] b) Regenerative agriculture can reverse phytoplankton death and oxygen loss.

Like we didn't know this for thousands of years. Rotate pasture lands. Plow under and rest sections of land, then rotate the crop.

  • irhologram

Or…Maybe they can salt it with microbes or something fancy, but if this stuff is THIS SIMPLE, as I suggest that it is, we need to get on this.

Remember a week ago when I said I refused to believe there was no answer to excess carbon in the ocean and atmosphere? And everyone said, "You crazy? Can't be done!"? And then I found that 3 companies right now (Bill Gates, Microsoft's Jabe Bloominthal, and oil billionare N. Murray Edwards are investors…so…not so nuts?) who are betting they can profitably extract sell atmospheric CO2 for use in several modes of fuel production.

So here's another solution. We need to be all over Big Ag. IMHO their acidification of the ocean is equal or worse than force fed GMOs.

You say this isn't relevant to your prime directive RE: nuclear? Really? Who's gonna man the NPPs when a majority are in respiratory distress?

Oh, but some here have crossed over into "Don't worry, be happy" mode. Kind of a shelter-in-place family haven. Where have I heard that before? OMG, its all about smiling enough like the Japanese Prime Minister said?

No offense, but that's just another way to express nihilism, and also kind of reminds me of "Hear no Evil, See no Evil, Speak no Evil" monkeys. There is such a thing as balance. I can be happy while protecting myself AND the earth, as well as my family. Spiritually, I can walk and chew gum.

    • earthsmith earthsmith

Let's see here Bill gates, Murray Edwards hahahahahaha. Yeah we should trust those guys. Humans will only continue to rape and deplete for profit not sustainability. There sure is a whole lot people on the planet and the resources are quickly depleting. Then there is China and their ambitious plans….. the list is becoming rapidly infinite.
      Yes absurd.

      • irhologram

Earthsmith. Of course I don't trust BIll Gates. Its HIS money where his mouth is, not mine!!

Your knee jerk reaction missed the point. Technology believes there's a profit in CO2 reclaimation, and so, therefore, it may happen that atmospheric carbon will be removed.

As far as China, had you opened the link, you would have seen that one of the collection sites is in Scandanavia. It doesn't matter WHERE the collection point is. Its in the air.

Lockdown at Trans-Pecos Pipeline Site in West Texas Consecrates New Indigenous-Led Resistance Camp

An Indigenous Water Protector and an Alpine, Texas, resident were arrested Saturday morning after locking themselves to pipe-laying equipment at an Energy Transfer Partner (ETP) easement and work site in Presidio County, Texas. The lockdown temporarily halted construction on the company's 143-mile Trans-Pecos pipeline that, if completed, would carry 1.4 billion cubic feet of fracked gas from West Texas to Mexico every day.

The action was the first to be organized by a new Indigenous-led prayer and resistance camp on private land in far west Texas' pristine Big Bend region. The camp is acting in solidarity with the Sacred Stone and Oceti Sakowin camps' historic standoff against the Dakota Access pipeline at the Standing Rock Sioux reservation in North Dakota. The same Dallas-based company is behind both the Trans-Pecos and Dakota Access pipelines.

"…Warning of an impending ice age

So in the face of all the earlier global warming predictions, it is now only ironic that yesterday the German-language Pravda TV site here published an article warning of an impending ice age. The article cites Yale scientist Wei Liu and a recent paper he published on the “overlooked possibility of a collapsed Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation“. Should the ocean heat conveyor collapse, then there would be “a prominent cooling over the northern North Atlantic and neighboring areas, sea ice increases over the Greenland-Iceland-Norwegian seas and to the south of Greenland.”

    Useless models

The Pravda report summarizes Liu’s paper as follows:

CO2 has nothing to do with it, rather the influence of the sun is the dominant factor: less sunspots (Climate: solar physicists project global cooling (video)), weakening of the earth’s magnetic field, impact on the jet stream are decisive factors that can quickly lead our climate into an ice age (Scientists: Consensus 2016: the climate models are useless (Video)).”

Pravda also describes how some experts say today’s climate models fail to take the known ocean and solar factors in account."

    Obama’s farewell speech:

“…’…Our Constitution is a remarkable, beautiful gift. But it’s really just a piece of parchment. It has no power on its own. We, the people, give it power – with our participation, and the choices we make. Whether or not we stand up for our freedoms. Whether or not we respect and enforce the rule of law. America is no fragile thing. But the gains of our long journey to freedom are not assured.’

“He reiterated that belief again, saying, ‘the long sweep of America has been defined by forward motion, a constant widening of our founding creed to embrace all, and not just some.’

“…The stark warning he offered in his farewell address went far beyond such cautions. He told his country that its cherished Constitution was useless, a scrap of paper, without a vigorous defense of its ideals. And as this wise and thoughtful leader left the stage, to be followed soon by an impulsive, bullying man-child, the implications of that warning seemed to linger. To watch Obama walk away into the darkness was an unnerving sight….”

“The dossier, which is a collection of memos written over a period of months, includes specific, unverified, and potentially unverifiable allegations of contact between Trump aides and Russian operatives, and graphic claims of sexual acts documented by the Russians. In other words, it can do major damage, but getting it under control could tip the climate change equation relatively rapidly.

Robin Hood in reverse: Eliminating Affordable Care Act taxes, tax credits means billions for the wealthy

"..Republicans in Congress have already voted to cut the taxes that pay for the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Up to now these tax cuts have been vetoed by President Obama. But with the inauguration of Donald Trump, Republicans in the Senate and House will be free to cut ACA taxes and give hundreds of billions of dollars to the richest Americans.

The ACA taxes include a 3.8% tax on investment income, which mainly goes to the top 1%. Investment income is not taxed to pay for Medicare or Social Security. There is also a 0.9% tax on individuals with very large salaries, which is also not taxed to pay for Social Security. Social Security taxes only tax the first $127,200 in earned income; any income above that or investment income is not taxed.

What this means is that eliminating the taxes for the ACA would provide the top one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) of Americans an average tax cut of almost $200,000 a year, which would be almost 75% of the total dollar tax cut.."

'California storms add 350 billion gallons to parched reservoirs'

"…More importantly, the recent storms have sent reservoirs swelling.

The 154 largest reservoirs tracked by the state Department of Water Resources added 1.1 million acre feet of water from Jan. 1 to Monday, boosting their capacity to 97 percent of historic average, said Maury Roos, longtime state hydrologist.

“It’s excellent news,” said Roos. “I don’t make the decision on the official drought, but from the Bay Area north we are in good shape for this time of the season.”

10 day storm cycle..Nevada State of Emergency

California and Nevada [my home state] are under siege from a MASSIVE storm anomaly known as an Atmospheric River. The wild card is a levee break.

Northern California received more than a foot of rain over a 72-hour period. 5 people died. A second round was underway Tuesday, promising even more rainfall that may lead to additional flooding.

The San Francisco Bay Area is facing a coastal flood advisory from Tuesday through Friday, with a forecast of up to 7-foot "king tides" that could pose a flooding risk for coastal roadways, Steve Anderson of the National Weather Service in Monterey.

In Nevada, residents voluntarily evacuated at least 400 homes, impacting some 1,300 residents in a south Reno neighborhood as the Truckee River breached its banks.
The Truckee River was expected to peak about six feet above flood stage in neighboring Sparks, and several feet of water was likely to flood an industrial area where 25,000 people work.

The Nevada National Guard has deployed high-water vehicles to help evacuate residents in one town east of Reno.

'The Military Wants Biodegradable Ammo That Turns Into Plants'

It also wants spent ammunition and casings to contain bioengineered seeds that would, after several months, grow environmentally friendly plants that would remove soil contaminants. The proposal even specifies that animals "should be able to consume the plants without any ill effects".

It's important to note that this is not ammunition that would be used in combat, but rather on training ranges here in the United States and friendly countries such as Germany, Italy and Japan. Ammunition used in combat is too important to tinker with, but at friendly training ranges where ammunition is expended for years and even decades, the issue of pollutant contamination is a real one."

Drones! New killer bee, complete with collective decision-making! Double as a pollinator, now that we killed the honeybees? Maybe the honey comb easier to harvest?

“The micro-drones demonstrated advanced swarm behaviors such as collective decision-making, adaptive formation flying and self-healing”
“Perdix are not pre-programmed synchronized individuals, they are a collective organism, sharing one distributed brain for decision-making and adapting to each other like swarms in nature”
“Because every Perdix communicates and collaborates with every other Perdix, the swarm has no leader and can gracefully adapt to drones entering or exiting the team.”

Better than sonic skin-heat to break up crowds! And wow, better than African dart-shot instant poison… probably can carry multiple doses!

Ahh. But can they be hacked?

This one-distributed-brain idea has me connecting dots to elements of the Ft. lauderdale shooter. Sonic voice thought projection into the human brain, on its' face, suggests that mind control can be COLLECTIVE.

Would that explain how so many believe this year, to the point of heated argument, what they don't remember NOT thinking a few years back, i.e. Russia, with whom we shared ISS, and with no cold war, has now always been the foe?

We used to joke "Its in the water," (which it is with Flouride), but I'm thinking if they aren't programming US sonically through the air as COLLECTIVE drones, THEY WILL.

"Citing a combined 6,000 years of combat and command experience, 176 flag officers penned a letter last week to Donald Trump insisting the president-elect not follow through on campaign promises to torture U.S. enemies.

"We are concerned about statements made during the campaign about the use of torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment of detainees in U.S. custody," the generals and admirals wrote in a letter dated Jan. 6, a copy of which was released by advocacy group Human Rights First. The authors call torture unnecessary and unlawful, counterproductive and in violation of "our core values as a nation."

Trump proposed labor secretary: starving wages for US workers, women are slaves.

Tell the U.S. Senate: Oppose and resist anti-worker Puzder nomination.
“Donald Trump’s nominee for labor secretary, Andrew Puzder, is a longtime sexist with an utter disdain for working people – a whole lot like Trump himself.1 And with his nomination hearing coming up soon, we’re running out of time to stop him.
“Puzder hates the minimum wage and President Obama’s reforms to increase overtime pay. As CEO of CKE Restaurants, which includes Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, he has faced lawsuits for discrimination and for not paying employees what they are owed, known as wage theft. He is a former anti-abortion activist who is most famous for his company’s sexist commercials featuring bikini-clad women.2
“Putting Puzder in charge of the Department of Labor is like making an arsonist fire chief. We need to make sure Republicans know there is a price to pay for supporting this radical of a candidate, and that Democrats do everything they can to oppose this nomination.

      • “Hates the minimum wage. Puzder is a longtime opponent of the minimum wage, even threatening to replace workers with robots if wages go up. He’s a CEO in a fast food industry that features far worse pay than other industries, even though his own salary is roughly 300 times the minimum wage.3
      • “Accused of stealing from, mistreating and putting workers at risk. Puzder and his companies have faced – and settled – repeated lawsuits from workers, including claims of wage theft, discrimination, failure to provide breaks and dangerous workplace environments.4
      • “Long history of sexism and anti-abortion activism. Puzder called his company’s sexist advertisements showing scantily clad women, some of which were too outlandish for TV, a reflection of his own personality. The ads are infamous, but Puzder’s leadership in the anti-abortion movement, including writing a restrictive, anti-abortion law in Missouri, is far more troubling.5

      • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar

But Puzder has promised to seek to deny millions raises by opposing the Obama administration’s overtime pay reforms. No surprise, coming from a man whose companies have been accused of denying employees earned overtime pay.6

Massive Iceberg Poised to Break Away From Antarctica, Scientists Say

One of the largest icebergs ever recorded is about to break off from Antarctica—which could cause collapse of large northern ice shelf

A rift separating the iceberg from Larsen C has been steadily developing for years, but increased suddenly by 11 miles within the latter half of December.

In a statement, scientists tracking the ice shelf from the UK's Project Midas explained: "The Larsen C Ice Shelf in Antarctica is primed to shed an area of more than 5000 sq. km following further substantial rift growth. After a few months of steady, incremental advance since the last event, the rift grew suddenly by a further 18 km during the second half of December 2016. Only a final 20 km of ice now connects an iceberg one quarter the size of Wales to its parent ice shelf."

Everyone seems to ignore the nuclear elephant in the room.

'Xi Jinping: “In 10 Years We Can Expect a New World Order” '

"…Richard E. Nesbett wrote a good book entitled “The Geography of Thought, How Asians and Westerners Think Differently … and why.” He attributed his work to a Chinese student who said, “You know, the difference between you and me is that I think the world is a Circle, and you think it’s a line.” He goes on to quote him:

“The Chinese believe in constant change, but with things always moving back to some prior state. They pay attention to wide range of events; they search for relationships between things; and they think you can’t understand the part without understanding the whole. Westerners live in a simpler, more deterministic world; they focus on salient objects or people instead of the larger picture; and they think they can control events because they know the rules that govern the behavior of objects.”

This is the best description I have encountered of the difference between east and west. It is right on point. We think everything is a straight line (linear) and in Asia they see it as a cycle. So you can say Xi Jinping is following our model. Yes, perhaps. But on the other hand, they know it is a cycle without me. Granted, he may be using us for the timing. But the end game – that is inevitable."

Trump Organization handover plan slammed by ethics chief
    12 January 2017

“Soon after, Mr Shaub said that the arrangement would not remove conflicts of interest for Mr Trump since, unlike in a blind trust, he would still see information about the businesses and deals being made in the newspapers and on television.

"’His sons are still running the businesses and, of course, he knows what he owns,’ he said at the Brookings Institution think tank in Washington DC.

“Describing Mr Trump's plan as ‘wholly inadequate", he said: "Nothing short of divestiture will resolve these conflicts.’

“A whirlwind of condemnation: analysis by John Mervin, BBC News, New York

“If Mr Trump and his lawyers thought this was going to satisfy the ethical and constitutional concerns that have been raised, they'll need to think again.

"’As I listened, my jaw dropped. Trump's workaround is a totally fraudulent runaround,’ tweeted Professor Laurence Tribe of Harvard University, one of the leading constitutional lawyers in the US.

"’Trump's announced structure is cleverly designed to dazzle and deceive, but it solves none of the serious ethical or legal issues. Trump's lawyer would flunk constitutional law at any halfway decent law school. At least if the lawyer wasn't just joking.’

“The biggest objection arises from the so called emoluments clause of the US constitution.

    • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar

It expressly forbids anyone in government from receiving gifts or benefits ('emoluments') from foreign powers. If Donald Trump still owns his companies, then even if he's not managing them, the argument goes, he will still be the beneficiary of many of the Trump Organization's foreign businesses.

“Professor Richard Painter, who was President George W Bush's chief ethics lawyer, stated frankly: ‘The plan we heard today does not comply with the law.’

“Professor Norman Eisen, who did the same job for President Obama, agreed with that and also offered an ominous forecast for the president-elect.

"’What Donald J Trump has done today is contrary to the most fundamental law of the United States of America,’ he said. ‘The emoluments clause is no minor feature of the constitution… So these conflicts of interest are core. I do not believe that any of the branches of government will stand for it.’

“The ethics agency director compared the Trump plan to what he characterised as secretary of state nominee Rex Tillerson's successful efforts to make a "clean break" from Exxon, where he was chairman and chief executive.

"’He clearly recognises that public service sometimes comes at a cost,’ Mr Shaub said of Mr Tillerson.

“Although presidents are not subject to the same conflict of interest rules as other government employees, previous commanders-in-chief have placed their investments into a blind trust to prevent any question of corruption.

Some will get the whole story, like the tried and true Fox News and Breitbart and some will get next to nothing, like the horrible Politico and NPR.

When asked where CNN, which he refused questions from at the press conference because he considers them “fake news,” Trump said:

They’re gone. No more. Their press credentials won’t be re-issued. CNN, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, Univision and The New York Times will have to read about what happens in the White House.

Asked whether or not he was concerned that denying media outlets access to publicly elected officials was a violation of the 1st Amendment, Trump said that he’s not worried about it:

That any of these 'MSM/Fake news bullshitters' feel they are getting roasted? Self-inflicted failure IMO. Pour some fuel on it! 😆

"warning..article is written by a psychopathic fucktard..the end is shocking.."

😆 Possibly one of us see's something 'different'? Black Humor?

"It should be fun to watch the liberals cry as Trump rips healthcare and public safety nets out from under the poor and forces them to work after abolishing the minimum wage. How high and mighty will all the lazy takers feel when they’re forced to work for $3 an hour and have to live in the dumpster behind the McDonalds they scrub?

This is change we can believe in, conservatives! Change for the better!! GOD BLESS YOU, DONALD TRUMP!!!"

"CNN should have just kept their traps shut and covered other people if they knew what was good for them. By the time Trump is done he’ll have the American press whittled down to a fraction of itself so dedicated to pushing Trump’s narrative that noted English political propagandist and famous teller of the truth Joe “Two Snaps and a Circle” Goebells would be proud.

America just got a little bit stronger. God bless you, Donald Trump."

'Stryker is a constitutional conservative who can't stand the lazy, crybaby , fantasy world liberals live in. Knowledge is power. The truth will set you free. May the good Lord bless and keep the United States of America.'

I do not believe 1 thing will happen re the puns

That is what makes it funny, that people do.

But then I like George Carlin, The Trunk Monkey, Ron White,,,,

"This is change we can believe in…" 😆

Tillerson Called Out for 'Lying About Climate' During Confirmation Hearing

'Listening to his hearing, it would be easier to conclude Tillerson is under criminal investigation than under consideration for secretary of state'

At his senate confirmation hearing on Wednesday, U.S. secretary of state nominee Rex Tillerson on Wednesday dodged questions about ExxonMobil's long history of denying climate science, lending credence to claims his tenure would be a disaster for the planet.

When pressed by Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) about the major charges unearthed by the ongoing ExxonKnew investigation—namely, that the oil company hid evidence going back to the 1970s of how the burning of fossil fuels impacts the climate, and funded misinformation campaigns to spread skepticism about growing scientific consensus—former Exxon CEO Tillerson "essentially pled the fifth," said Oil Change International executive director Stephen Kretzmann.

"Since I'm no longer with ExxonMobil, I'm in no position to speak on their behalf," said Tillerson, who recently separated from the company after 42 years. "The question would have to be put to them."

Kaine asked as a follow-up question: "Do you lack knowledge to answer my questions or are you refusing to answer my question?"

Tillerson responded: "A little of both."
