Title: Temperature Soars Mysteriously Inside Fukushima Nuclear Reactor

The temperature of a reactor at Japan’s stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant has soared and remained mysteriously high Monday, despite more water being pumped through it.

The facility’s No.2 reactor had reached 164 degrees Fahrenheit (73.3 degrees Celsius) by Monday morning, after sitting at 113 degrees Fahrenheit (45 degrees Celsius) on Jan. 27, broadcaster NHK reported. [...]

Two other thermometers in the reactor are giving readings of 111 degrees Fahrenheit (44 degrees Celsius), suggesting recent plumbing work might be affecting the water’s cooling of

TEPCO claims no re-criticality has occurred and that temps are increasing because water patterns have changed. Things that make ya go hmm.

Tokyo, Feb. 6 (Jiji Press)–Tokyo Electric Power Co. <9501> said Monday that it has found no signs that the damaged No. 2 reactor at its Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant had experienced recriticality, or the restart of self-sustaining nuclear fission chain reactions.
TEPCO made the announcement by disclosing the outcome of its analysis of air samples taken from the No. 2 reactor’s containment vessel. The company made the air sample survey after a thermometer showed a sharp rise in the temperature at the bottom of the reactor’s pressure vessel inside the containing vessel from Sunday to Monday.

makes you wonder why they decided to add 960 kg of boric acid anyway, doesn’t it……

Exactly, but of course we’re dealing with TEPCO like dealing with the IAEA, FDA, NRC, etc. their only agenda is saving the nuclear industry at all costs and Bill Gates I had no idea and the MSM is attacking Apple for their factories in China when they should be discussing Bill Gates twisted infatuation with Uranium. Ahh, it truly is frustrating.

I would feel a lot better if the Japanese Meteorological Agency would have recorded more tha a lousy 4 earthquakes throughout Japan during the past 24 hours.

    Really a LOT.

Perhaps I’m missing something if Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are bullish on uranium but I would never invest in anything that has caused so much pain and angst.

“Mr. Gates gave nuclear energy company TerraPower a lot of praise, which makes sense considering that he has invested what Wired described as “undisclosed millions” in the company. TerraPower uses less-toxic uranium as its fuel, so the reactor produce as little as one-one-thousandth of the typical amount of radioactive wastes.

Mr. Gates then added the earthquake has simply shaken public confidence and noted that nuclear waste disposal isn’t that big of a problem. “The good news about nuclear is that there has hardly been any innovation,” he said. “The room to do things differently is quite dramatic.”

Warren Buffett sang a similar tune at Berkshire Hathaway’s annual general meeting last week. “I think some people misinterpreted my interview when I said that [nuclear power] had suffered a major setback,” Mr. Buffett said. “That does not change my view that nuclear power is important for the world.”

Charlie Munger, Berkshire’s vice chairman, then added that the public can’t afford to be so scared of energy opportunities like nuclear because the chance of failure is so small.”

And to that I say NO NUKES

  • This is the reactor the cam went in and we could see criticality taking place !
Could be holes in reactor vessel are allowing water to exit faster then input leaving some/or/much of the coruim/bits/left in vessel that is in it to re-critical !
