Fox News: Breaking… “New fuel leaks have been discovered” at Fukushima — “Experts believe melted fuel is leaking” — Radiation levels could be over 5,000 sieverts — “Wow, this is a crazy story”… it only continues to get worse (VIDEO)

Fox News, Feb 8, 2017 (emphasis added): Adam Housley, who reported from the area in 2011 following the catastrophic triple-meltdown, said this morning that new fuel leaks have been discovered… He said that critics, including the U.S. military in 2011, have long questioned whether Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) and officials have been providing accurate information on the severity of the radiation… He added that critics are now questioning whether the radiation has been this severe all along.

Fox News video transcript excerpts, Feb 8, 2017: “Experts believe melted fuel is leaking inside the plant almost daily… No one knew [in 2011] of the growing threat which today only continues to get worseWow, this is a crazy story… What some people are saying is, ‘ Has it been this bad since the beginning?'”

Washington Post, Feb 8, 2017: Could the radiation level be even higher? Possibly. The 530 sievert reading was recorded some distance from the melted fuel, so in reality it could be 10 times higher than recorded, said Hideyuki Ban, co-director of Citizens’ Nuclear Information Center.

"new leaks have been discovered"- what they mean to cover up is 'new discoveries of on-going leaks since 3/11'

at least they say the leaks are occurring inside the plant….as opposed to say,..leaking outside the plant. Unless the whole world is considered part of the plant now. The earth as containment…the industries final solution…

The corium is outside..This accident is NOTHING like Chernobyl

                Core Catcher Breach
Core debris generated during a molten reactor core in a reactor containment vessel penetrating the reactor containment vessel is configured to be caught by a core catcher located beneath the reactor containment vessel which has a main body having first stage cooling water ..

If such a severe accident occurs in the nuclear power plant, the molten core would penetrate the reactor pressure vessel lower head at bottom of the reactor pressure vessel and would fall to a floor of reactor containment vessel. Core debris, a wreckage of the molten core, continues to generate heat as about 1% of reactor thermal power because of decay heat of radioactive material that exists inside. Therefore, if there is no means for cooling, the core debris heats concrete stretched on the containment vessel floor. If temperature of contact surface is high, the core debris would react with the concrete and generate large quantity of non-condensable gas, such as carbon dioxide or hydrogen, while melting and eroding the concrete. Eventually, a lot of radioactive material would be emitted to the environment.

moonshine, glad to have a chemist here.
Well, we have gone through this question of the melt out on the north wall of unit four extensively.

                You can see the following;
Troy makes a bad estimate of building geometry. The proposed corium path in reality is; melt through 4 feet of concrete pool, drop 12 feet to the floor below, roll sideways about 40 feet, over and through obstacles, blast sideways out the 25 foot panel without destroying the beige box structure immediately adjacent to the blow out.

His estimate of the dynamics of the building destruction…a melting slumping action…is entirely incorrect. The action was highly explosive, the resulting wall deformation due to blast wave pressure, not melting of walls.

So you can continue observations; The initial blast that caused that particular wall panel to blow,( and very likely the same panel position on the south side) blew the immensely massive wall about 50 feet where it was stopped by the adjacent building. You can see a blast trail that includes the yellow shreds and the white curved chunky stuff, of which some ended up on the roof of the adjacent building

That gold stuff REMAINED GOLD colored. Keep that in mind. Now looking at the 'slump', compare the pics of the gold slump and the black slump. They are not the same volume! Not the same shape. Now look at the infra red pics and you see there is no heat signature from that area at all. far more heat in the road and over by the common pool for…

                • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

SFP4 melt…so much more IR heat in the road, and at the common pool. Neither the gold or black stuff was thermally hot. A very important point when considering corium! We looked at the heat decay and possible temperatures, and if that were corium, the concrete would be sputtering gas, spritzing and fuming. The black would have red streaks of lava oozing forth, the paint on the wall would be burnt. None of that is evident in the photos

So you can make an estimate of the volume. The pipe is about 8 feet in diameter. I calculated the volume as being much greater than the corium.

                  So you have these points against Troys theory;
                  1) no heat
                  2) fuel would not travel sideways, but keep melting downward
                  3) inconsistent blast scenario, blasting out the panel without damaging the beige structure
                  4) wrong structural analysis…this takes a background in structure to see I guess
                  5) not all gold stuff turns black
                  6) incorrect volume
                  7) core is said to have been in the SFP, not eqpt pool
                  8) if they cant touch other corium, how could they remove this corium?

                  So I propose an alternate theory;
A condenser unit blew its ends off, blasting the panels on the north and south walls. The insulation was gold, the white stuff are U-tubes.
The stuff was blasted far but much was left hanging, in shreds.

Then large amounts of water were poured along with stop leak (conjecture). This water washed out blast debris, blackened by fire. This secondary slump covered the first gold and…

The problem I found with the 'equipment pool' theory, among others, is there is no evidence to be found on 'fuel assembly racks' temporarily used in equipment pools.

The racks, bundles, pools are all designed and used to a strict protocol, the nukers follow much of it like a religion. Not making any excuse for them, but typically it is who and what they are, obsessed crazies or not.

Coupled with the reactor being opened up, and that pool being used for its intended purpose, I have a difficult time understanding or explaining 'fuel' being stored in any volume in it.

Something to ponder on the search. 😉

is corium hot or cold? Note how hot the SFP3 is, even with water

And here is unit four on the left. Some heat in the SFP and reactor, none in the equipment pool, and nothing at the supposed corium spot. I wonder, what goes on the minds of people who go with the Troy theory? They must turn a blind eye to the thermographs and other evidence. Its rather amazing. Emotion rather than fact is the gatekeeper of their reality

One of the most confusing things for me, if I get the drift of the communication from Jacko and all, was the possibility #3 & #4 pools were mis-communicated. Then Jacko quit or got fired or went mia.

As to which one was which, condition, events, a bunch of things. It doesn't help.

They said #4 SFP all burned up.
Then they built a new structure, fuel handling crane, and removed mostly unharmed fuel assemblies.

They laid the foundation for a conspiracy

So I think no fuel melted at #4. Maybe.
They worked, people all over the thing, pictures all through it, standing, bs-ing, like it was safe to do so. Corium in the EQ pool and out the side, the volume, no.
                      Removing it?

The other 3 units, are off limits. 6 years.

                      Something is very different.

                      AirSep…your points noted.
Lets not forget the place blew up spectacularly. I dont find any convincing evidence the cause was from unit3 gas. Take two important pieces of info; Unit4 fuel found in europe, and Stohl noting high radiation release from Unit 4, and its pretty certain that some fuel burnt up. Enough to cause a hydrogen explosion. More detailed water measurements show a definite leak in the SFP and low water. The pics of men standing around…something doesnt seem at all right about that. So many men doing nothing in a high radiation, high danger location. Spent fuel is as radioactive as corium…the water shields it. The crew got a big dose and no way they were all standing around like that except for a photo op. They plugged up the leak, destroyed fuel rods lay at the bottom, they maybe took some rods out. Worse than 3 mile island! Four nuclear catastrophes, not three.

                    • Jebus Jebus

I agree that four sustained fuel rod damage.

How much is relayed by the study.

I suspect the photos and vids of pristine, because I see the damage that was done.

Strange as it sounds I agree with both of you on many points. WTF it all is and means is quite odd, confounding some of it.

The place did blow up, quite well. Maybe 1/2 the intensity of #3. Nothing running. No piping available from blowed up #3.

Like dopes standing by an open reactor, with the lid and steam 'dryer'(?) assembly in clear view background. Is it photoshop?

The repaired elevator, people up there often, just fumbling around, it's bizarre.
I know they are there for good reason, just making light of the oddity of it.

I remember those vids. The tops of the fuel bundles are burned/melted off. period.
Not all, but a good number. Unbelievable.

I am not 'nuke' privy. But many projects behind me. This is just weird, real weird.

I find that a bit of a stretch. In the plant would be a 'high heat area', and most easy to id. And where is this 'freshly melted fuel'?

On the other hand, melted fuel that has cooled, can be washing around and leaking everywhere, and still highly radioactive.

No, Fukushima Daiichi Did Not See A Radiation Spike

The cause of confusion appears to be the translation of initial reporting from Kyodo News, also published at Japan Times. The headline calls it “the highest radiation reading since 3-11”. This new reading is the highest of the handful of readings taken in high radiation areas between 2012 and 2017, nothing more. It does not denote an increase of any kind. The confusing quote from Japan Times below:

'US Navy Sailors Search for Justice after Fukushima Mission'
    'February 05, 2015'

"…It was the endocrinologist who asked her if she had been on the Ronald Reagan. During Tomodachi? Yes, Morales told her. Why?

The doctor answered that he had removed six thyroid glands in recent months from sailors who had been on that ship, Morales relates. Only then did Morales make the connection between the worst accident in the history of civilian atomic power and her own fate.

The Fukushima catastrophe changed the world. Nuclear reactors melted down on live television and twice as much radioactive material was released as during the Chernobyl accident in 1986. The disaster drove 150,000 people from their towns and villages, poisoned entire landscapes for centuries and killed hundreds of thousands of farm animals. It also led countries around the world to rethink their usage of nuclear energy. Fukushima is more than just a place-name, it is an historical event — and it would seem to have changed the life of Leticia Morales as well…"

It's so comical but so very sad at the same time.

News flash planet earth! It's been that radioactive the whole time, along with all the other reactors that melted down, remember?

Waiting for some prominent figurehead to advise playing it safe and at least shutdown and retire any type of Mark I reactor designs in the US and throughout the world. That would lead to a discussion of safe nuclear spent fuel storage. The loss of electric capacity is not an issue a la Japan shutting down it 50+ nuke reactors going on for 6 years now.

Tepco and other international corporations would of course love to see humanity place the blame for their crimes onto the Jews and Jewish bankers, instead of having humanity blame the capitalist corporations and the capitalist bankers. Hitler and the industrial elite of Germany pulled the same trick on the masses. Of course millions of people world wide are latching onto the ''blame the Jew banker scheme '' as the bankers and multinational corporations laugh all the way to the bank.

I'd like to know what the radiation is on the west coast of south west British Columbia from all these leaks. Are we in danger of cancers, cataracts, heart problems, etc? I tell my son not to take my grand kids to the ocean to swim, but he poo poos the idea anything is wrong. He doesn't read ENE news or do any research about what is happening in Fukushima or in the Pacific ocean. Our killer whales are dying. They have only had one living calf from what I have read. Everything is sick in the Pacific. And the sad thing is, nothing can be done about it.

On the Ridge…the levels will measure "low" 10 bq per thousand kilos of water and not more than 100x that in fish.

You, and your children, will no doubt see this compared to background radiation at 12,000 bq. The answer to toxicity wont easily be found by measuring radiation. 'very small' doses will result from swimming. Sea foam can be 300x more radioactive, still 'low' by official standards.

The problem is that the nuclear fallout is far more toxic, especially when consumed, than mainstream science admits. 300 to 1000 times more! Likewise, background radiation toxicity is not well studied, and may be less than what is extrapolated by science. This nuclear fallout is especially harmful to the young and more so for girls.

The subject of radiation dose is not easy. The known and unknown factors of illness plague the world from every direction; chemicals, radioactive particles from bombs and accidents, microbes and our reduced resistance, toxic algae…the list goes on and on. One in three were getting cancer even before Fukushima. Personally I did swim in the pacific on a recent visit. I didnt consider it a significant increase in the levels I am already exposed to by wind driven fallout.

You could find Mangano's papers showing significant increases in child mortality and deformity after Fukushima. Maybe that would impress your childrens minds. But the fallout is on land too

    • razzz razzz

Since radioactive fallout is so spotty, being exposed to it in the ocean is a roll of the dice. More exposure leads to higher risks and you never know what part of a body will be affected. Regular doctor checkups might catch early signs. If parents don't take precautions, who will?

Couple of important points Fox News left out of their story:
    1. There are now photos of a hole through a grate UNDER one of the reactors.
    2. The hole was made when 96 tonnes of molten nuclear fuel called "corium" melted out of the reactor.
    3. ENENewsers calculated in 2011 that it took only a week for the molten corium to melt through the basement floor.
    4. The corium is most likely in the bedrock the plant sits on.
    5. For 5 years, a 100' deep underground river flowed around the corium, washing it into the sea.
    6. Not 1, but 4 reactors at Fukushima blew up, or melted down.
    7. Almost 6 years after the beginning of this disaster, Japan cannot find the missing cores of 3 nuclear reactors.
    8. Nearly everywhere in the Pacific Ocean, animal and fish populations are in rapid decline.

Five workers were treated for smoke inhalation and one of the reactors at the plant has been shut down, though there is no radiation risk."

    Flamenville incident:
company operating Flamenville has history of failure to report gravity of earlier incident at another NPP:

"Both the French nuclear authority, ASN, and the company operating the two Fessenheim nuclear reactors, French energy giant EDF, allegedly did not divulge the gravity of the incident on April 9, 2014, when one of the reactors had to be shut down after water was found leaking from several places." ….
"The reports say the official report ASN released did not contain information on adding boron nor the jammed control rods. It was also not reported in that way to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)."

As well as capturing images of what may be the melted fuel, Tepco was able to estimate radiation levels, arriving at a figure of about 530 sieverts an hour, the company said last week. On Thursday, it said it recorded a reading of 650 sieverts per hour, according to Kyodo News.

By comparison, a nuclear fuel rod a day after a reactor is halted has a surface radiation of several tens of thousands of sieverts an hour, Yukako Handa, a Tepco spokeswoman, said by phone. Tepco also notes that the 530 sieverts figure has a margin of error of 30 percent.
