Fukushima children promise Pope they will persevere through nuclear tragedy, Catholic News Agency, August 4, 2011:

Twenty elementary school children from northeast Japan promised Pope Benedict “they would never give up” in the face of adversity.

The children traveled from the Japanese city of Ofunato [...] a coastal city which was impacted by radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plant [...]

They told the Pope of their will to “live and be reborn” and of their effort to “rebuild our still-beautiful city.”  They also pledged to “never lose their smiles, which are a source of hope.” [...]

Dr. Shunichi Yamashita, head of health study concerning the effects of radiation on Fukushima residents:

AILEEN MIOKO SMITH: This doctor is quoted as saying, “The effects of radiation do not come to people that are happy and laughing. They come to people that are weak-spirited, that brood and fret.”

I wonder how many of them will be alive 5 years from now.

That reminds me of a girl in Hiroshima who became famous for trying to fold 1,000 paper cranes to cure her radiation disease.

    She failed.

She got to 550 or 560 before kicking the bucket.

Well ..isn’t that jolly good…aren’t the promises supposed to be coming from the other direction?
Does the Church promise to take care of them when their smiles fade? Will the Church be their to clothe them ..feed them..find employment for their parents…?
It’s like…. the Church is the one that needs it’s little INNOCENT hand held or something.

It’s crap like this that will eventually morally bankrupt the Roman Catholic Church.

If this Fukusall event goes anywhere near ELE all religion as we know it will end. For they do not channel a consciousness that is relevant.

I’ve not seen any news stories about the ‘Pope’ or the Catholic church coming out and speaking up for people around the world and especially in Japan. Why no speaking against the 98% news blackout? Why no speaking out against the Japanese government leaving its citizens in harm’s way? Why nothing said about the food chain being polluted, and the damage to creation from the background radiation level being significantly increased in many areas, if not eventually the whole globe?

What side of things is the ‘Pope’ and the Catholic Church on?

Further, who are they beholden too? Because that is a real serious question, if the Catholic Church is part and parcel of the multigovernment conspiracy to censor the news of Fukushima. And this for what? To protect the superrich owners of an industry? Just to protect a world endangering industry?

          Who, controls the Catholic Church?

Their home is full of radiation more than Chernobyl. Look at the children there, and the problems they have.

They haven’t been able to clean Chernobyl up, how do they expect to?

The Adults should be the ones who are promising to get the children out.

Isn’t there a law that, if the parent isn’t giving their child a safe environment, the kids can be taken away, and put where they are safe. Maybe they don’t have that law there?

What are the views of the Catholic Church in this situation, do they condone that these children are in a dangerous area? Are they trying to convince officials to get these kids to safety?

Hell no they won’t! They want these children to be good, little, dutiful, silent, smiling autotrons, exit-stage-right-silently,.. and die.

I think many would like to leave but do not have the resources to do so for the long term. I know as a parent I would do anything to protect my children but as I’ve said many of these people do not have the money or means to leave their homeland forever which would be difficult for many reasons other than monetary. IMHO

Good God. The Vatican has billions and billions of dollars in assets, but won’t give up one penny for these children. I remember visiting the Vatican and observing the opulence there. I can just see this Pope patting these little children on the head & sending them back to suffer in Japan, and then retreating to his palatial quarters for a glass of wine.

If you look at the world throught nature, and not a celestial belief.. A need to have a ‘divine being’ to ‘teach morals that people should have’ like the American Indians, there is no christ or anti-christ.

We are living on a planet. It is a beautiful place, we defile it , hence we do not belong on said beautiful planet. We are the foreign element that rapes the Planet and gives nothing back. No ??

personally i rate myself as a bit of a hard nut emotionally! but something in this article profoundly desturbs me and i cant quite put my finger on it?
“Twenty elementary school children from northeast Japan promised Pope Benedict “they would never give up” in the face of adversity.”
the way this is written can not be true….
all the children said the same thing? did they learn this by heart in a pre prepared way? isnt it something an adult would say? in fact i would go so far as to say this “slogan” borders on the propaganda!
its got to be said? who does the pr for the vatican? thats what you probaly wanted to know eh admin…?? who comes up with these slogans and pr moments? well the japanese line is probaly done by wpp (see previous posts)…or adk…. however a web search brings up the name mindshare (remember that?) based in rome
    http://www.wpp.com/wpp/companies/
there are 16 subsiduary companies here ….
and there are 37 subsiduary companies in japan!
notice mindshare in both…. its just my point of view and maybe someone could enlighten me otherwise that maybe if not this company then another similar company is coming up with soundbites like this? dont tell me the pope is turning into the new “lady gaga” (we saw how that ended up)!
well i was unable to comment further than this obvious manipulation of the needs of the japanese… my heart cries for those childrens ultimate safety.. and i have hope that the japanese people are awakening to show the world how efficient and compassionate they are! they are being held back by pr bullshit like this! its scandalous!!

I caught myself smiling at your truth and my like feeling !

Adults make their own decisions, they are responsible to a degree of those.

Children , on the other hand, it appears are being manipulated. Why ?? I think it goes back to the old journalistic creado.

Follow the Money ! Any positive PR is good PR.
How many Japanese people do you honestly think are Catholic? I mean, Really…

This makes me so mad. My anger levels are not good lately. They should be EVACUATING these kids. The elders are done. People of middle age are in trouble. It’s only the youth that can be saved.

What the F&^! is going on? I could slap the Pope as well. His ass should have been asking the Japanese government to be compassionate and generous to those they’ve murdered.

We do indeed, with the occassional emotions outbursts and disagreements, but all told, we are for one basic principle.

What became stark to me today as I had to get out of the house and take pain meds to get food stuffs, is that sometimes, I feel like we care more about the Japanese people than the Japanese govt, corps, culture, and of course, let’s not leave out good ole TEMPCO.

Then I come back home and find even more blatant bull passed off as good PR for Japan.

The freakin’ Vatican for crying out loud !

We definitely care much more about the people of Japan than their government, corporations, richest despots (behind the scenes or not lately), the U.S. government, military, nuclear and related corporations. My question is have the Japanese become like the Americans of the U.S. (not us and more are waking up) where they will be apathetic about reality, believe any lie because modern life has just made people cowardly, fearful and uncaring about themselves, no matter what predicament has been created by greedy bastards at the top of the heap.

The title of this article is misleading. Ofunato, where the children were from, isn’t in Fukushima, it’s a city in Iwate prefecture, 2 prefectures to the north of Fukushima. It’s probably not contaminated badly enough to need evacuation, but it was partially destroyed by the tsunami. I’d guess that most of those children had at least one parent from the Philippines. I don’t know why they chose that title for the article because it implies that they were staying despite dangerously high radiation.

Well I DISTINCTLY REMEMBER one of the Vatican’s prominent servants, a certain bishop hereabouts, getting into hot water for revealing that the Indonesian Boxing-Day Tsunami was a punishment from God and following it up by saying the much the same same thing about the Haitian Earthquake.

What spin will the Vatican give the current Japanese tragedy for those innocent kids?
