Survey of the workers at the Fukushima nuclear power plant

Comments by a primary subcontractor employee

[...]

“I think that this accident was going to happen eventually. TEPCO is expert at hiding information. Even now, TEPCO has not disclosed all of the information regarding water leakage etc.”

“The government and TEPCO should have referred to past accidents such as the one in Chernobyl when formulating their response to this accident. There have not been any apologies to the evacuees. How can this be acceptable?”

    Sad to say, but:
    "No surprise."

    Next time in this cinema:
    "Oops, we're dead!"

TEPCO was lying all the way. watch this video from German inquisitve TV Show ZOOM "The Fukushima lie"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGsYdDpUSzg
and Frontal21 (English subtitles) concerning "the truth about radiation in Fukushima".
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A04siYdoBU
    Very well researched!

Fact is that also the Japanese government sits on their hands! Decisions just take too long. The patience of the people in Tohoku starts running thin.

Therefore, have local citizens and NGOs taken the fate of the land in their own hands. They want to decontaminate Fukushima with the help of sunflowers and other plants that remove Cesium from the soil. This is called Phytoremediation (from Ancient Greek (phyto), meaning “plant”, and Latin remedium, meaning “restoring balance”) and describes the treatment of environmental problems through the use of plants that mitigate the environmental problem without the need to excavate the contaminant material and dispose of it elsewhere – which is currently the band-aid-solution of the government and TEPCO.

Our goal is to help them with the next step – the safe and secure processing of the Cesium-laden biomass after harvesting, which is currently still an unresolved problem, and proper storage of the small amount of radioactive residue. http://tohokuearthquake-help.com

Doesn't Phytoremediation bioconcentrate absorbed radiation in the plants by its purported mechanism? Birds and bugs eat various parts of the plants including the sunflower seeds, they radioactive hot particles on their bodies and bioconcentrated seeds through their digestive systems, dropping them across over far and wide distance not only in Japan but across the ocean in North America, Australia, etc, through their migration.

So, this would actually spread the locally concentrated contamination, doesn't it? Have you thought about this big picture? It is an admirable effort but seems too optimistic for the realistic level of Fukushima concentration. It is also a way to give false hope to the local residents, who should be really evacuated.

hamako_ju…I am truly dismayed that the government is giving orders not to test the citizens for exposure dosages. This is torture. It is also very fascist. Anyone who wants should be tested.

If phytoremediation was an effective method of radiation removal, people would be living in Chernobyl today.

"Further improvements are necessary to make phytoremediation technology a feasible option for restoration of 137Cs-contaminated territories."

This is no solution just a desperate fantasy to make everyone here feel like they are helping. I respect their effort but it is not a solution it's just redistribution at best. In fact they will probably end up burning this now radioactive biomass and sending radiation into the wind to contaminate an ever larger area. It sounds really nice though, so I am sure a lot of people will sleep better after having read it.

      [ Cool Japan ?]

Yeah great! Their solution, so far, has been to incinerate radioactive debris. Great solution, we'll send some of it up the stack; and then, we’ll send the concentrated ash to be dumped in Tokyo Bay.

Oh, and don’t call on/reach out to any scientists, physicists, epidemiologists, etc. for help, because those are the ones that possess the real knowledge and the facts, would expose the charade of those who are in charge.

The only justice in this who clusterf#%k, and it’s a sick and sad justice, is that those , who foisted this catastrophe will die from radiation poising like the rest of us. I can only hope they will be the first to be eaten by their victims.

Not right we the people have inherent rights and one of them is a safe environment to exist.
    Sorry for the rant

"…Even now, TEPCO has not disclosed all of the information regarding water leakage etc.”

Didn't one enenewser post a comment a while ago where he did the math that just about proved this very statement?

In the comment this enenewser had done some math based on tepco's own figures. Amount of extra water injected into the reactors per day, amount of holding tanks and their size, rate of (semi) decontamination of water etc..

The end result of this calculation was that there would have to be a lot more water leaking from the reactors every day than what tepco would be able to contain and process with the equipment they had/have on site.

To make an apology would mean they admit having caused the accident.
Before the accident Nuclear power companies promised – this was totally safe.
    Where are these persons now?
They should be in there now – cleaning up.
All these people that gave false insurances about safety. They were lying. It is needed to take them to court – otherwise history will repeat itself.
It has been like this for twenty thirty years now. After a big accident (or catastrophe) they don't say so much, but after some years they start to lie again.
Actually it is these persons – and companies behind them – that causes this catastrophe!
If thy would be held responsible now – they would not start lying again, at least not that easily.

The workers are reaching their personal dose limits working at Fukushima.
They are disposable..although..it seems coming in short supply.

    Work.. get dosed..and die..
    Simple as that.
