Arc, thanks. Keep posting! Eventually the lid will be blown off this coverup. Then all of our efforts to track the real state of affairs will come to light. The public has been "put on notice" all of this is happening, should they care to look. Background Beta indoors this morning, after three days of heavy rain (HEPA turned off) averaging .125 mSv/Hr.
Radiation Network showing 20 CPM in San Francisco this morning, but am beginning to think the mSv/Hr figures give a more realistic picture.
Whatever is spewing out of Fukushima will no doubt hit the U.S. West Coast any time (anything new and wonderful out of #2). I'd expect we'll see higher readings here since Tokyo had an enormous spike the other day.

Am a bit concerned, Arc, your readings are so high there. There must be regional point sources pushing those readings up, as you said. 0.6 is really high.

the 0.6 mcSv/h was in japan near fukushima city…. the readings here have been reaching 0.22 mcSv/r on a slow rise as a cloud passes.. i managed to gauge the largest cloud at about 15 to 20 miles deep from one side to the other..
this stuff is beta and i suspect alot of alpha too if the eurdep monitors are anything to go by!! we have a complicated weather pattern with 2 highs keeping it mostly in london… there has been a drop recently as i posted.. i think the contamination is settling and when we get windy weather the heavier micron sized particles will start to move once again… the cars and local wind conditions in inner london will mean a very bad radiological pollution that will not be picked up! as its beta .. i suspect the recently decommissioned oldbury near bath now.. especially as i found a hint that alpha is involved above 1 bq/m3, although it is presently under 0.1 bq/m3 but only just..
problems getting the beta values but they peaked above 0.3 bq/m3 the reading were from belgium but the wind is from the uk .. and maybe sizewell is kicking of too!?? not sure about that though!

Needless to say, you in London are also downstream and sometimes downwind of the Aldermaston Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE). The Thames has already been tritiated by Aldermaston waste; I have little data on what else has gone that way, but there are people who do.

What is even more concerning is that these data are two months old. All people living in the affected areas can do with this information is saying "Oh, I should have moved away long ago, but now it is too late"

I should put the data provided here against the background of the risks uncovered by ECRR 2003(2010): Cs 137 whole body dose as of Jan 2012 is @ 1.98 mSv/y/person. In June 2011 it was 1.44 mSv/y/person.The Jan 2012 value is 137% of June 2011 value The allowable dose(by default) is 0.1 mSv/y/person.Actually it must be zero(I explain below).100000 people were evacuated from the 20 km exclusion zone(citation pl). The Jan2012 .198 rad per year person whole body dose of Cs137 would have caused a person rad dose of 19800 per year. If we follow Gofman and put 300 Rads per cancer death, the cancer death load per year amounts to 66 persons. And the 300 year death toll would be 19800 persons or about 20% of the people evacuated. The dose is expected to rise further, what with the reported expectation of Unit 4 collapse and all the other units contributing to the radiation load. Thus I see no hope of people returning to the exclusion zone.All this ongoing catastrophe is really so mad and futile. My energy audit analysis of the Japanese nuclear programme, with no catstrophes(sic) shows that year after year the programme only consumed energy and all the nuclear energy produced. The excess energy to take care of the ongoing construction including embedded energy and waste management and decommissioning came and comes from coal and other substitutions. Thus the cost of electicity from nukes is infinity because society received and receives no electricity after supplying the nuclear industry. As ECRR 2003 shows the health costs of nukes last forever into succeeding generations. It takes my breath away to note that fascists India and China do not know and do not know that they do not know. Such foolishness must be replaced. A law must enable commoners aware of the consequences to be subsidised to stand for election and like statesmen lead and if they err be immediately recalled. The greatness of truth and justice calls for fearless mutiny by the citizens and villagens worldwide.

I expect to see more not less radiation coming from Fukushima as the recent EQ's increase the interaction between the the Corium(s) and the groundwater under the entire Complex…
TEPCO has hopes of restarting #5 and #6, so that they are taking baby steps now instead of moving full speed 24/7 to fill with concrete what is left of the #4 reactor building, creating a new external SFP that encase the weakened one above it; then can install a new overhead gantry crane and start moving SFR assemblies off site ASAP!
This may be the biggest BLUNDER of all time if yet another BIG EQ causes that weakened SFP to collapse…

I concur that regardless of cost that we need to get the corium and spent fuel recovered and isolated instead of waiting 20 (actually by their standards probably 390) years. However, I am concerned that they would instead opt to go for the cheaper fill the voids with concrete and act like they are really doing something and declare the plant dead and finished. However, covering the core with concrete will block the release of heat and increase the diffusion of the lower melting point nasty by products.
They are trying to save dimes and they should be ready to destroy five or more $250,000 robots per kilogram recovered.

I feel the same way you do, huskey – I just don't see much in the way of a silver lining to this cloud.
From the start, it seemed really bad, and the more I learned, the more pessimistic I became.
To me it is mind-boggling, that the nuclear mafia still want to press on with this technology, both for electric power and for weapons – and that simple fact IN ITSELF tells us that we are doomed.
Because they obviously are seriously out of touch with the realities here, or they just don't give a damn and are going to play it for all it is worth to them, before the world becomes so toxic that, area by area, it effectively dies.
Maybe they think they know of areas that will be relatively untouched and to which they think or hope they can flee. Perhaps many of them already own land etc. there. (Like the Bushes in Boliva). And for the top elites, there are the underground bases.
Maybe they have this calculated out and think that they are playing a winning game – though how they cannot be in deep depression at the destruction of this beautiful planet and its amazing life-forms, is quite beyond me.
But for most of us millions and billions – this is a death-knell, I believe. I don't even think it is a hard thing to figure out.

As stated it is truly about greed. They know that the environment is contaminated with such a long list of poisons. They are on a rush to make as much money as possible in the shortest amount of time. A reporter for the Daily news has been on radio stating how much advantage there is to expanding research on the moon & Mars. Governments are eliminating environmental regulations that took decades to get in place. All so that companies can make more money without concern for the environment. With austerity measures being put in place & services cut, they ensure that most of the worlds population will forever be in poverty. And as a result never able to truly fight back. Everything is being put in place to keep their boots forever on our throats.
We are indeed expendable. As you are aware there is a large push for people to accept robots as friendly & useful. They are used more & more in music videos & advertisements. We also know that companies are working hard to eliminate more & more jobs by using robots in some form to replace us. They expect to be able to replace a third of the worlds workforce with robots. So they don't need us, nor will we be paid to sit at home while robots do the work. By poisoning us & controlling what type of medical care we receive they ensure that we will pay for medical care that is only intended to extend our suffering & flow of money until we die.

Having huge reactors means that not enough water can get to the cores in case of meltdowns.
Climate change has re-opened the debate as to whether nuclear energy might be the answer. The events at Fukushima and at at every prior meltdown have again and again demonstrated that the answer remains the same – you cannot have both safe and cheap nuclear energy.
Renewables are the answer. "Never again" should be the motto of the anti-nuclear movement. Price-Anderson insurance and loans guarantees are the problem. Nuclear energy has never stood on its own. Get rid of the training wheels and the bicycle falls over every time. Nuclear energy is the best example of the worst effects of lobbying.

Good point Huskey! Human produced chemicals are responsible for the Ozone layers depletion. Daiichi is probably making that ten-fold, 1000 fold too! We always seem to concentrate on what is taking place BELOW the Reactors.(4 good reason) But what the hell is ALL THIS FUCKING SHIT doing to the ozone layer?!?!

When I asked Dr.Jim Walsh on Nuked Radio if sun activity is changing decay rates of nuclear materials (which it is and has been proven by Stanford and Purdue), could it also affect other nuclear materials like the fuel in reactors? He said "Well we would be seeing evidence of that all over". Now MIT's research reactor (where Jim works) is acting screwy AND we have radioactive isotopes bursting into flame spontaneously. Hmmmmm. Now that is freaky, that the sun has been doing this. Two scientists, Setterfield and Norman, showed evidence suggestive of the speed of light having decayed de-exponentially in recent time. A creationist book by Josh McDowell, Reasons Skeptics Should Consider Christianity, has an article mentioning how decay rate has been shown to vary under passing thunderstorms. But now researchers are showing the sun affects decay rates. Besides affecting reactors, this further calls into doubt radiometric dating. It also increases the possibility there might be an exotic physics way of remediating corium, as well as widespread radionuclide fallout. If it decay can be speeded up, then it should also be able to be slowed down, or stopped.

Yes, MaidenHeaven (well said) & Poor Daddy – their agendas are ruthless and they want to get rid of a whole lot of us 'useless eaters', and are doing it in several different ways. That is one reason I find Leuren Moret's research about HAARP being used to further this agenda of global takeover and depopulation so plausible – it comports with what I see happening all around us.
I still think they are just skirting/inviting disaster with the nuclear stuff, the DU and using radionuclides as weapons of genocide/depopulation – and may get more than they bargained for.
So on the upper levels of power, there is little if any that is happening with the Fukushima catastrophe that is 'accidental' – and their failure to care for the people is not due to confusion, poor planning, being overwhelmed, making honest mistakes or anything like that – it is deliberate, because the death of millions of us is part of the plan. In fact is is one of their chief objectives.
The masses of the people are just kept so innocent of all of this by all of the brain-washing in schools and media. The elites really hold us in contempt because we (collectively, most of us) just 'don't get it' – and are so easy to fool.

Bleep: Releasing radiation to depopulate the planet? To what end? The lifeless planet they would emerge from the tunnel systems to rule will be poisoned for thousands of years. Mankind is stupid and shortsighted and greedy, but there is no depopulation conspiracy!

It could be the result of spring releases of pollen. The radionuclides landed on the cedar trees. In the spring, the trees release massive amounts of pollen that are carried great distances on the wind. That might be the source.
