Title: Fukushima radioactive leak is ‘the greatest threat humanity ever faced’ – expert

David Webb, Chief Executive Officer of Origin Investments AB (Sweden): I think we should keep in mind that TEPCO declared plants 1, 2 and 3 to be in cold shut-down. And of course we now know that was not the case. Other people were pointing out that the cores had melted down through the facility. We now know that is the case. […]

[…] the most dangerous thing is the cooling pool of Unit 4. Now it is terribly dangerous because the entire hot core of reactor 4 had been removed and put in this cooling pool shortly before the tsunami. […]

The entire area is weakened and there is a great risk of an aftershock. Now this pool contains something on the order of 400 kg of hot plutonium. So, the thing that people should be aware of is that TEPCO is going to begin attempting to remove these rods […]

The media coverage of the situation has been almost non-existent. The public must become engaged and the governments must become engaged because this is a global threat. […]

This is perhaps the greatest threat humanity has ever faced. […] the measures that the Japanese government is discussing at this point are not sufficient, I believe. Other governments must become engaged in this.

It is not the greatest threat… The greatest threat is "The people" operating it, lying about it, duct taping it and apologizing for it when they make the inevitable bone headed play. THEN, it gets ugly. TEPCO: your off my Christmas Card list!

    • We Not They Finally

UncleC, I relate to your anger at these people personally. It's infuriating.

HOWEVER…. since what they are proposing is manual removal of fuel rods that are likely part melted, part fused together, part twisted, part broken…. and that that is an OUTLANDISHLY risky thing to be doing…..

I'm saying that maybe they really do fear that NOT doing it would be even worse when SFP 4 just topples down and goes kaboom!

So if these people who normally disclose NOTHING are suddenly so freaked out that they are doing this freaked-out thing to prevent what they think is an even bigger freak-out…. Then I'm truly terrified!

And the global "society" will go toss a few ordnance, to create just enough diversion, to put it all on the back page…

From the ONE that knows… "Two and half year have passed and what did they do? So far they simply raised the radiation limits up to make us all safe again.

..and we thought communists were cruel bastards and we criticized them for few days delay in evacuation of population in Chernobyl area, but now we see that Japanese civilians continue to be silently and slowly butchered by the corporatist nucleocrats. This will continue for years until North Japan will eventually become a ghost island of sick and dying weaklings. Smart enough to produce Panasonics, Toyotas and Hondas, but not smart enough to shutter Pandora's box. Fukushima presents our good, old communists leaders in really favorable light. They appear like Angels of Mercy against those sick genocidal sociopaths from Tokyo. I believe the Japanese 'leadership' has no choice since it represents the business. The evacuating around Chernobyl was done almost immediately. Why? Because in communist state there was no business to intervene … Elena Filatova

actually sworldpeas, the Elena Filatova's comments are very misleading. The Soviets did try to coverup the conditions at Chernobyl in the first weeks but eventually succumbed to collaborated reports from adjacent European countries. In addition, the Soviets called in troops who were assigned shovels and stopwatches to go into the plant facility and attempt fire-control remediation. Little is known of the fate of these poor souls, except that it's obvious from the epidemiological reports of the citizenry, they're all likely dead or dying right now.

While we can all agree that economic forces have contributed to the incompetence of Fukushima's handling, the forced death sentences that were handed down by the Soviet government is no less an attractive alternative. All in all, the endless mistakes of all of these socioeconomic systems is evidence enough that nuclear power technologies must be globally banned for use within the Earth's biosphere…

      • We Not They Finally

Well, what the Soviets apparently did NOT do was say it was all safe, send thousands in at minimum wage, then abandon them without even health care when they fell ill. A lot of concerns were wrong-headed but they were still collective. And compared to Japan, they acted quickly.

Life is A BALANCE. Now we only seem to extol the personal, the individual. But if there is no collective concern and action, we are still doomed.

The Soviets had huge problems. But here what we have is me-me-me. Is it really better? And our own government has become callous enough to raise "acceptable" levels of radiation to lethal.

This come down to human failings, not just political ones. We need to be better humans, and humanity seems to be learning that way too slow.

problem with responding to 'some' people is they're really not interested in dialog, but rather…pontificating. And as neither of you bothers to respond to cogent points, please do me a great favor and refrain from responding to any post that I put up on this site, unless it is directed to either of you…

        • flatsville

          This is simply not true:

          >>>Well, what the Soviets apparently did NOT do was say it was all safe…<<<

Many were tricked into contaminated site clean-up including school aged children who were told they were going on field trips or nature studies and then handed a shovel. I've read their accounts including one bewildered young teen girl who wore her best dress that day for the field trip only to shovel contaminated soil.

Many got sick and have been abandoned for health care purposes.

While many, many went into remidiation work with patriotic zeal and full knowledge (and I thank them,) many did not have a clue as to what was being done to them.

          • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

            Flats, You are very wise…

not familiar with this account flatsville, but it doesn't surprise me that the Soviets would have done this to unwitting children; let alone, military conscripts. Seems there's no limit to crimes that are committed by those who'd bask in the glow of nuclear power technologies.

And thanks for the constructive addition to the thread…

When something goes wrong with Nuclear, it is the perfect killer, since it is invisible, odorless and tasteless and a very active external/internal class one mutagenic.

You can't find this Nuclear killer and you can't even arrest this Nuclear killer and/or throw this Nuclear killer in jail and this Nuclear killer is always free to ravage every town/hillside and every man, women and child while they sleep, play, breath or eat.

The best part about this Nuclear Technology is when its Nuclear Killers are freed.. these invisible killers never/ever go away…

Talk about real nightmares filled with lots of pain for the entire now sleeping world or what?

  • Edward Edward

Please, all this negative talk will hurt the economy. People might stop buying toyotas and other japanese products. Remember in most peoples minds the economy is more important than the environment, health/safety, wildlife/oceanlife and the planet.
FYI, I have tried many times to inform people of this ongoing disaster and they do not want to listen or don't care. People I thought were otherwise intelligent do not want to hear any negative talk/news. It might ruin their day or plans for future shopping/traveling. I will now look out for my own health, they can leave their heads in the sand. However, one thing is for sure, if tepco/japan is telling us this much we can be sure that it is really MUCH worse. Greed and Corruption is ruining this planet!!!

    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

This is the typical response. No one I know wants to hear anything. What to think? The species is defective or insane

      • We Not They Finally

True to both CS and Edward. However, keep trying. We talk to random strangers even, who are NOT surprised and want to know. Sometimes even kids in their early twenties. On the other hand, we couldn't keep our own niece from going to Japan.

So don't ever get so discouraged that you don't keep talking. You are doing a good deed, however it may be received.

  • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

Why must the public become engaged? Because all of the people they put in office are lying and never do the right things. That means they are criminals. If you hire someone to look after your home or neighborhood, and all they do is get fabulously rich, steal, lie and go out killing, why do people think gathering signatures asking them to change is appropriate? But on the high government level, these folks also have the most sophisticated observational and killing devices ever conceived. We are in the end of a science fiction movie

    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

Look where some truth comes from; an investment company. Not Woods Hole, or EPA. Now the recent headline that authorities are so concerned about the disaster, but have determined there is no threat, completely undermines public awareness. But the public is powerless to fight the military industrial banker fascist multi tentacled cartel. Signing your signature wont change them.

  • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

is it only 400 kilograms of plutonium? Anyway, we have it from other sources its enough to kill every person hundreds of times over and over. Mutual assured destruction. But dont worry, theres no danger

    • We Not They Finally

That may be the weight of what is LEFT in SPF4. But the blowing up of that MOX fuel reactor spread THREE THOUSAND BILLION lethal doses of plutonium throughout the atmosphere according to Dr. Paolo Scampa over a year back in a very good article on agreenroad blog.

With plutonium, it only takes 1/50-millionth of a gram to kill. That doesn't necessarily mean that every "hot particle" you breathe in with kill you, but if even one lodges in your lungs, it becomes a permanent emitter and on you go to cancer within a matter of years.

So there is enormous damage ALREADY DONE. But they are still panicked about SFP4 which, understand, no one can even get close enough to inspect!

Tokyo Electric Fukushima radioactive leak is 'the greatest threat humanity ever faced' – expert
Sep 2, 2013 Voice of Russia
There was a hot core in this cooling pool the entire superstructure building was blown off in a hydrogen explosion. The cooling pool itself is just barely containing the temperature levels of the core as it is.
This pool contains something on the order of 400.000 kg of hot plutonium. One microgram of plutonium could theoretically kill a person.
If these rods combust, it will vaporize the water in the pool and the entire pool can become an uncontrolled nuclear reaction open to the air. These particles will be spread through the northern hemisphere.
This is the greatest threat humanity has ever faced. The measures that the Japanese government is discussing at this point are not sufficient.

IMHO, it's the media that is to blame. Ever since the blatantly fraudulent 2000 'stolen' election of GW, the media has been grossly MIA. The US has clearly turned fascist, and fascism will destroy life as we know it.

    • timemachine2020 timemachine2020

Dano – You make me sick. Bush did not have anything to do with this directly. Blaming everything on Bush is old and no good here. If you want to blame someone, the current pres that also stole his election through illegal votes has repeatedly told the American public that we have nothing to fear. Knowing the current state of fuku I think NOT!! You are still living in the past. Wake up and smell the plutonium.

A select club of nuclear nations with nuclear weapons, nuclear businesses, and nuclear militaries are behind all things nuclear. individual politicians both Republican and Democrat, media and scientists are just puppets to defend and support all things nuclear. Once you see that big picture you will see that all nuclear everywhere needs to end.

"The greatest threat" began the day egotistical,over-zealous scientists finished the dirty work that led to the deployment of Fat Man & Little Boy along with all of the filthy technology & facilities that supported the expansion of their loser technology to the present day self-annihilation whether by design(Agenda 21?),or just the results of incompetent & very limited levels of intelligence re;those who embraced the Atomic Age without knowing or ignoring the danger associated with playing with nuclear fire. I feel guilty for sitting idle until the day I'd seen the 1st reports of 311 that included mention of the Fukushima NPP being hit by the Tsunami and the backup cooling systems rendered inoperable. I KNEW it could & probably WOULD be of concern beyond the island country of Japan even before the reactors went belly-up and burned & exploded! The event and the negative attention TPTB and their corporate puppetmasters DESERVE is still minimal & downplayed in MSM news reporting despite short clips describing the NEW setbacks & massive releases increasing with each day that passes since the COMPLETE news blackout was only recently broken! Despicable, considering the event had gone on for well over 2 years while edible products, water sources & the air we breathe was poisoned beyond comprehension!! I'm not even gonna bother getting my own cancer treated since the radiation has or WILL result in most if not all cancer diagnosis's to be TERMINAL(?)! FT(their)W! 🙁

      Johnny Blade,
it's your choice but I hope you don't give up.
I am sad about… your family's situation…and I can't put myself in your shoes. I won't insult you by saying I can even imagine it.
All I can say is, however "out there" it may seem, is that I know you have a tremendous river of strength, and if you pursue alternative therapies, I hope you'll be in that strong flow, wherever it comes from, however it works.
You are a Voice. If we all heard every Voice we'd go deaf! I think most of us hear some, and we can't know all who may hear us, maybe not even if any hear us. But I hear you, always have, even through distance and pixels. So, I think others do too. I think it's natural, even if it sounds – and sometimes feels – kind of weird.
      All the best.

    there is an extraordinary possibility…

SP: …perhaps that Unit 4 is not as dangerous as it was 908 days ago. We saw it burn for weeks in 2011-2012 and then they showed visitors the spent fuel pond from above filled with water. So if it was really all still there, why risk showing politicians the pool? Answer: Because it is 99% burned to charred assemblies.

You didn't see them escorting visitors to 1, 2, and 3 because those units are totally rogue. Maybe Unit 4 is just a distraction. We can't see inside now, so I guess we will have to "trust" their reports when they begin lifting out assemblies in December.

Let me know how that goes. 🙂

    Secret Facilities, Thousands Dead…

  • NoPrevarication NoPrevarication

It has always been my understanding that the real threat at Fukushima is the common spent fuel pool between #3 and #4. Tony Casto, of the NRC, staked his career on the fact that spent fuel pool #4 burned early on. Clearly, TEPCO, the Japanese government, and our own government have lied to us from the very beginning. One can't believe a word they say.

Read this document for the truth:

http://www.hatrickpenryunbound.com "Something wicked this way comes."

Concrete proof is there regarding what Tony Casto had to say. Read the phone conversation where he says it. He was at the site.

If we had any world leaders, they would have appraised the situation and led from the beginning. Just no such thing nowadays. What a shame. And Japan, the world is getting angry with you. This frightening game of pick-up-sticks which you plan on starting in November requires brains, dexterity and finesse. Who do you have? Have you already found the best crane operators on the planet? You botch #4 and we've had it. So no bowing deeply, no apologizing profusely, just git'er done.

    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

I think they DID appraise the situation. Imagine if there really are secret weapons labs underneath. But either way, to go public with the real situation is to self incriminate all the big players. Presidents are complicit in the cover up, and you can bet there is a trail that goes to big bankers and some specific countries.
