Gov’t: 75 Fukushima children with cancers confirmed or suspected in thyroid — ‘Genetic alterations’ to be analyzed — Expert: “Gene pool is damaged, next generations will carry burden of catastrophe”; Surge in disease expected

Published: February 7th, 2014 at 11:32 pm ET

Jiji Press, Feb. 7, 2014: Eight more Fukushima kids found with thyroid cancer — Eight more Fukushima children have been confirmed as having thyroid gland cancer following the prefecture’s checkups, a local panel of experts said Friday […] it is unlikely the disease was caused by exposure to radiation […] The panel said 75 people were suspected of having thyroid gland cancer as of the end of last year, of whom 33 were confirmed as having the disease. Three months before, the number of confirmed patients stood at 25. […] 270,000 have been examined.

Fukushima Voice, Feb. 7, 2014: […] the news post published today in multiple newspapers regarding the Fukushima Medical University beginning a genetic analysis of the cancer tissues […] to analyze for genetic alterations to help figure out why the cancer originated. What was odd was that [Shinichi Suzuki, a Fukushima Medical University physician in charge of the thyroid ultrasound examination], as if avoiding a swarm of questions, offered an explanation that such genetic analyses are routinely performed on adult cancer specimen […] He asked for an understanding as he felt it was the mission of Fukushima Medical University to conduct the genetic analysis in order to watch over the children’s future. As for the perceived “slow” speed of confirming the cancer cases, Suzuki said that some of the cases suspected of cancer did not warrant immediate surgeries […] As usual, no information was offered such as the type of nodules and also details of each surgical case […]

Andrey Dyomin, president of the Russian Association for Public Health, Feb. 6, 2014: [A surge of diseases 5-6 years after March 2011] is to be expected in Japan. “We cannot say that the problem would disappear in five years. The rise of morbidity will continue as the general gene pool has been damaged. Next generations will carry the burden of that catastrophe”.

here is a link to a site developed by physicians concerning Fukushima Radiation

    quote from the site
…information from nationally-known doctors on the best ways to protect our health and lives from the radiation from the nuclear reactors in Fukushima, Japan which were severely damaged during the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

The radiation is devastating Japan, killing the Pacific Ocean, as well as threatening the US West Coast — and even all of the Northern hemipshere. However, the government and corporate media are leaving the public uninformed of the dangers and protections.

This is not a time to despair, but a time to get informed and active! This site discusses simple steps that can enhance your health in vitally important ways while also helping to protect you from radiation. Get informed and inform others! Knowledge is power!

Genetic defects caused by radiation will be inherited from one generation to the next.

World governments need to admit the severity of this absolute catastrophe. I feel fairly confident there will be no humans left on earth in three to five generations, as well as animal life, if this isn't contained QUICKLY. Time to throw EVERYTHING we have as a species at this thing. The time for bullshit is over. I'll be first in line to run in for my part…solutions are possible if we dedicate all the resources we have. I'm very young, only 21 and I'm perfectly happy to sacrifice myself and stay even longer than my allowable dose. So get it going, your underground bases, shelters, won't last 100,000 years.

If their beloved economy had not intervened they might have handed out iodine immediately. But money first . . . around the world all leaders understand this as they have to answer to the Big Money. And the Big Money calls the shots. Anyway handing out iodine would have caused panic and alarm. So better generations of thyroid cancer. Right? Especially if you live in Washington, D.C. or London.

    • We Not They Finally

Do you know how cheap iodine pills are? Pennies a pill. It takes complete moral depravity to have handled it this way, not just a money matter at all.

  • razzz razzz

Thyroid cancer will be he least of Japanese problems. Iodine would have afforded only some protection as it was not just a fallout cloud for one event but multiple events, probably 4 or more counting if Unit 4's fuel pool was reacting.

Not sure if they changed the diagnosis for thyroid cancer (have to be having a near death experience to get treatment??) but they did change the screening. Used Geiger counters readings instead of ultra sound scanning, ignored smaller growths (polyps), only followed kids with larger growths without performing biopsies. Doctors participated in low balling cases and ignoring patients symptoms.

    • We Not They Finally

Yes. Helen Caldicott (who is a pediatrician, not just an anti-nuke activist) was very upset that biopsies were not being done. She said it was the most horrendous medical neglect she's ever seen.

She was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, and the group she founded, Physicians for Social Responsibility won the Nobel Peace Prize.

The healthcare resources are scarce. Experts urge that physicians in the future decide on the basis of criteria such as costs, benefits and age, whether patients get treatment or not.

Modern medicine can boast great success , at the same time increase the cost of treatment – especially in the clinics. Thus, a colon cancer cancer patient lives three times as long as ten years ago . The cost of his treatment have focused more than tenfold. Similarly, the heart medicine , more and more patients survive heart attacks , but must then be many years supplied expensive. An examination of the Medizinethikers Daniel Strech showed that 78 percent of physicians surveyed had deprived patients for reasons of cost benefits. 13 percent said they make every day . Who will benefit from more expensive medicine and who is not, the doctors decide on gut feeling.
    mandatory criteria

Therefore, experts call for prioritization. Physicians should decide on the basis of transparent , binding criteria such as costs, benefits, and retirement and other , if a patient receives a medical service and or not . And so, sometimes , whether he lives or dies. The goal: a fair distribution of scarce resources .

Largely unnoticed by the public, since health economists , lawyers and medical ethicists have considered how such a medicine might look in practice. In other countries there is already progressed . In Sweden there is a catalog of recommendations which treatments are useful and which are not. In…

Vitamin E can tumors grow faster

The intake of vitamin E and other antioxidants inhibit the natural defense system of the cells. They promote the growth of cancer cells. In mice, tumors grow in the lungs three times faster by taking vitamin E.

Swedish researchers at the University of Gothenburg have studied the effects of antioxidants in cancer case . Antioxidants have commonly a very good image . They are intended to prevent , among other things , that free radicals damage DNA . Not infrequently, the antioxidants also reputed to protect against cancer . But the research team led by Per Lindahl warns against taking antioxidants.

In their study, the researchers have found that antioxidants such as vitamin E (beta-carotene , etc. ) and N- Acetylstein – at least when they are taken not about food, but as a dietary supplement . The antioxidants enable namely the cancer cells , the immune system of normal cells (which is also directed against tumors) to escape , according to the study. The result is that the tumors undetected , multiply uncontrollably .

    • We Not They Finally

Cancer thrives on LACK OF OXYGEN. Anti-oxidants are one of the best tools against cancer. Go somewhere else please. This is HIGHLY DESTRUCTIVE of you.

    • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar VanneV

I read back in 1989 that you should never take Vitamin E if you have hormone related cancer or cancer related to the reproductive system. I had severe breast cancer.

So I have never taken vitamin E since 1989.

The information was in a publication published in the UK. I get my vitamin E from seeds I grind up in a coffee grinder: sunflower, sesame, flax, chia seeds. Back then I ate only flax seeds and no other oil at all.

On the other hand, I took huge amounts of vitamin C, and my whole diet was very rich in vitamin B-17.

Completely avoiding any animal products and processed foods including processed oils are the healthiest way to go, and as much raw foods as possible. I also can't eat any gluten at all.

  • Machomaker Machomaker

    Tricked defense system

A large role in which the protein seems to play p53 – the defense system of the cells is based on . The protein regulates the reading of certain genes. However, the two above-mentioned antioxidants reduce the amount of p53 in cancer cells , which could lead to it are no longer recognized by the immune system.

A lung cancer patient should therefore not recommended to take this supplement to himself. All the more worrying that patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD ) is often also receive high-dose N- Acetylstein as expectorants .

However, the study has tested the effect on already existing cancer cells. Whether the antioxidants also , for example, can cause lung cancer at all only to the study says nothing. For the studies , mice were used with lung cancer. Was supplied to them antioxidants, such as vitamin E, this resulted in a 2.8 fold increase in lung tumors . The mice died twice as fast as the mice in the control group who had received no antioxidants. Also in human lung tumor cells in the laboratory growth accelerated .

    • Machomaker, you got links for that?

      • Socrates

        Hi, chemfood

Machomaker is quoting information from studies I have read. In fact the P53 gene regulates programmed cell death. Tinkering with the immune system with anti-oxidants may backfire. This was found to be the case in smokers and supplementing with beta carotene. Vitamin E make prostate cancers worse. Linus Pauling was only partially correct.

Taking mega doses of Vitamin C may backfire. To upregulate the P53 gene you could use elagic acid from Meeker raspberry seeds or pomegranate seeds. Antioxidants may downregulate programmed cell death is what he is saying. You could research this yourself on PubMed. I have used it since 1985. Takes two minutes….

Convention medical research and alternative medicine are merging more than people realize. Science is science. Medicine is for profit so that leads to certain abuses. However, the medical literature includes vast information about the effects of conventional and non-conventional therapies from any and all chemicals. PubMed is free and searchable.

In the course of my work, I have learned that cancer treatment is always evolving. Misinformation and myths persist which can kill people alteady at their most vunerable as they grasp at treatments and cures.

We should all be more careful making blanket statements and declarations in this area.

          • Socrates

Alternative medicine is for profit, too. Some is good other remedies are not. A false dichotomy exists – 'good" and "bad"… truth is truth…. politics is often propaganda with media misleading as often as not.

People need to learn critical thinking and research skills and draw their own conclusions. I should, be able to draw their own conclusions.

            • flatsville

Agreed re: alternative med and treatments.

As I said, I have also learned that cancer research and treatment is evolving. I am routinely surpried by what I learn. Some of it counter intuitive based on supposed established knowlege.

Blanket statements and declarations re: cancer are dangerous…coming from the non-licensed even more so.

Those trying to educate should know what they are talking about.

Many supplements have impurities including heavy metals, use nanotechnology, and have GMOs. I have used Hulda Clark's book for a list of supplement companies to use. She is very specific on which supplement at which company to use. Of course, one probably has to keep testing the testing over and over again and there are a lot of supplements she recommends that I have never taken.

The GMOs are ubiquitous. And a lot of supplements are made from products which contain pesticides.

Hulda Clark also says to avoid foods which have malonic acid. Oranges and tomatoes, for example, which have been grown with pesticides contain lots of malonic acid. They have known for a long time that malonic acid causes cancer.

Some people also say to avoid all nightshades: potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, etc.

Does something need to change regarding the language in description of these maladies? In a case such as the thyroid cancer the majority, I think, might be akin to being on the wrong end of a bullet. Would someone actually term a gunshot wound as a 'disease'? If not a different word, at least accompanied by a descriptive adjective.

Maybe it's just me, but that word 'disease' somehow gives me the impression that it's something inherent in general life. And while, in essence, it might be 'natural' in that inherent sense, expected bodily reactions and interactions to the situation, it's source is hardly 'natural', but a consequence of contrived, unnatural source. My concern is that the common reaction to this might miss the point, which is awareness of cause to remove the contrived, unnatural source, not a description that might give one thought that it's just something to be dealt with as chicken pox, or scarlet fever.

Just some thoughts brought on by a sincere sympathy with individual problems and the hope that common awareness might minimize the pile of martyrs to the nuclear cause.

Nuclear plants are man-made, and leak radiation.

So even the liars in Japan now confirm that there are three times as many children with thyroid cancer as there were four months ago.

Except that that has to be a WAY under-estimate. They've been routinely telling parents of children with thyroid nodules to just "come back in two years." (Was it a live child or a dead child that was supposed to come back?)

The only real estimate we may ever get is in the number of child-sized caskets from the funeral homes.

And they STILL say it is "unlikely it was caused by exposure to radiation"? There cannot be a single parent in Japan who still believes that.

  • We Not They Finally

Which of the thyroid cancers was it, exactly, that "didn't warrant immediate surgery"? Do you just take stage 1 and say oh, that's not severe enough; and then take stage 4 and say, oh, don't bother, they are going to die anyway?

Fukushima Mengele University. It's beyond belief.

  • We Not They Finally

Thyroid cancer, incidentally, can be extremely aggressive and spread very quickly. We just had a friend operated on who was told before the operation that they thought it was "contained," and then pathology report came back as stage 4. And the cancer had just shown up out of the clear blue in the fist place.

I hope there are other worlds out there that don't involve stepping foot back on Earth. I hope that those poor kids don't have to reincarnate back HERE.

  • Socrates

In papillary thyroid cases in childhood, there is a specific deletion of chromosome 7 (as I recall) in cases caused by radiation. Therefore, a DNA fingerprint has arisen to prove that childhood papillary thyroid was caused by radiation or not. There are some cases of childhood papillary cancer that do not show this deletion so those would not necessarily be caused by radiation.

As for adults, this may not hold true.

This is problematic for the nuclear priesthood since sacrificing children is barbaric. Killing one's own people as Obama said at the Olympic opening ceremony is grounds for humanitarian intervention. Well?

    • Socrates

So why are we killing our own people? Why are we destroying the human genome? It is total genocide of the Japanese people to promote the peaceful atom. Earthquakes render Japan as zone of assisted suicide. Yet, not a single right-to-life person has objected to the deaths of the unborn in relation to pre-natal radiation exposures.

America goes all hypocritical where money is concerned. In capitalism, money is worshiped like a god so why not throw the kids under the bus?

We are discussing the effects of radiation on children… I hear crickets from those who profess to care about the unborn. Some of those fetuses are miscarried, some are stillborn, some are born with damaged thyroids and brains. Others will carry defective genes that can be passed on to future generations. Others will get cancers, have low birth weights, and other problems. Yet, I have not heard from any religious leaders about these issues; why?

I hear about the evils of abortion as a tool to reduce taxes on the wealthy. I hear about the Southern Strategy. So now is the time to put up or shut up. They either care about the unborn or they do not. Wouldn't you agree?

    • jec jec

My daughters papillary thryoid cancer was caused by 'radiation,' per her surgeon. She had it too long, years, because the doctors said teens 'dont get cancer like that. Fukushima doctors need to ignore the 'data'/medical theory and treat the SYMPTOMS. IF there is a nodual in a child's thyroid, it needs to be biopsied and checked out…

      • Socrates

If it was caused by radiation, the deletion on the chromosome "proves" it. Sherman and Mangano have published epidemiological studies about the cause of childhood thyroid cancers in relation to proximity to nuclear power plants. 60 European studies have demonstrated this association, as well as many other signature diseases of children as a function of their proximity to a nuclear power plant. There are several US studies that show the association.

Save your child's biopsy in a freezer. Have the pathologist run the tests in anticipation of litigation. That is advice by Dr. Goodheart. Make sure of the chain of custody of the sample.

A new dawn is coming where disease can be traced to a virus, radiation, chemicals, bacteria, fibers… epidemiology does not conclusively prove the cause, just shows the association, "may" be caused. But the deletion on the chromosome in childhood papillary thyroid cancer is caused by radiation. Then the question become whose radiation. In court, more likely than not is the test, in science, they desire a higher level similar to beyond a reasonable doubt.

I am convinced that low dose suffices… there are trillions of dollars at stake vs. Public health. So far, industry and governments have pulled the wool over the eyes of the people. See, I avoided the term sheep.

So WHO decides who can get "checked"..and why over 105,000 still have NOT been checked? Waiting for care? For a doctor to be available?? Cancer really does not worry about insurance, government 'death panels' or boards who limit medical access…it just kills if you don't get treatment in time. For children, cancer is much more vicious and to treat if ignored in the first (small 1mm nodual in case of thyoid cancer) stage. Once outside the the initial site/organ..its devistating.

You have a very good heart, that I noticed the first post already.
Do not feel attacked, it comes to dietary supplement in 100-500 times the dose over the recommended daily dosages.

It was "dl-a-tocopheryl acetate" is used, that is a synthetic derivative of vitamin E, which does not occur in nature as (where only the D-form). Furthermore, there is naturally occurring "vitamin E" from a mixture of various related substances, namely alpha-, beta-, gamma-and delta-tocopherols such as tocotrienols. Several studies have shown that the isolated administration of only alpha-tocopherols the other forms displaced in the organism.

I have a picture in your mind the I pursue or ivestigate without evil ulterior motives.

PS the comment section is to small. 😉

    For acetamide :

In animal studies occurred birth defects and it is suspected that acetamide is carcinogenic to humans.

Acetamide is part of the structure of N-acetylcysteine.

Acetylcysteine is known as a mucolytic.

Mucolytic promotes formation of glutathione as related to oxidative stress the prime redox-active molecule ).

Mucolyticum – Mucolyticum HAS BEEN shown to reduce the extent of liver injury Following acetaminophen overdose. It is most effective When givenName early, with benefit seen in patients Principally Treated within 8-10 hours of the overdose. Mucolyticum likely protects the liver by Maintaining or restoring the glutathione levels, or by acting as substrates for conjugation to alternate with, and ran thus detoxification of, the reactive metabolite.

I can not find the information in English and therefore the posts are always so incredibly extensive. I see the connection between the radionuclide metal ions, bacteria, thiol compounds and oxidative stress. To all those interested with I have to send floods of data to give an idea. You can, so the where can not read German, translate the links now attached. No problem though, I'm not going to let Narrow long as the webmaster is not in between.

Heavy metals belong to all living things on the potential stressors.

    Cellular stress response
The detection of stress through specific and non-specific
Signaling pathways. Generalizing can all signal paths are divided into the following parts:
    Recognition by a receptor
    Forwarding via a signaling cascade
    Alteration of protein expression

The change in protein expression initiates measures to cope with stress, which can be very different. Here are some examples:
Chaperones (special proteins) help other proteins to fold properly
-Metallakzeptoren bind metal ions in the cell, for example, Proteins with thiol groups
-Active transport out of the cell, e.g., direct ion efflux
Surface proteins bind metal ions and prevent the entry into the cell

I read these articles and appreciate your posting. The biochemical processes in the body need to be understand in relation to understanding toxins, heavy metals, pathogens, radioactivity…

Redox signaling is interesting. I study these issues to understand life extension and health. It will require much knowledge to survive for a few more decades. If only taking huge amounts of antioxidants would accomplish that. It just is not that simple.

I am studying biophysics now too.

Breaking news: 75 children have now been diagnosed with thyroid cancers.

In September 2012, the first case of thyroid cancer was diagnosed in a child out of 38,000 children.
By September 2013, the number increased by 58 cases.
By February 2014, a whooping 75 children out of roughly 270,000 are either confirmed or suspected to have contracted the thyroid cancer.
NOTE; More than 100,000 children have yet to participate in the survey.
The sociopaths in charge are still denying the thyroid cancer is related to the ongoing nuclear crisis.
The crimes on the children of Fukushima continue unabated. The crimes bring shame to the great nation of Japan. Evacuate the children. NO ifs or buts!!

The rate at which children in Fukushima have developed thyroid cancer can be called frequent because the rate is several times to several tens of times higher. [Based on Japan's cancer registration statistics from 1975-2008 which show an annual average of 5-11 people in their late teens/early twenties developed thyroid cancer for every 1 million people] Because there is the possibility that the number of cases could increase in the future, there is a need to implement measures now.

It is all lifestyle and genetics….they got us covered. Don't you worry about nothing. The people will be exhausted.
The stresses will be magnified…money, food, accessibility and fear of the unknown.
Sadly I find the majority of the people choose the lets just wait and see, kinda wing it attitude. They most likely won't wake up untill a loved next to them becomes rapidly ill. Even then I am not so sure. But I do know unspeakable horrors are in store for all things trying to exist in the rapid new future.

75 Suspected Thyroid Cancers In Fukushima Children, NOT Normal
    February 10th, 2014 Fukushima – SimplyInfo
The number of Fukushima children found with confirmed or suspected thyroid cancers continues to grow.

Earlier the Fukushima Health Survey had insisted these thyroid cancers and abnormalities were within normal ranges and were being found due to increased monitoring. This excuse was NO longer used in the most recent press statements by the Fukushima Health Survey. Now the excuse is that thyroid cancers were only found 5 years or so after the Chernobyl disaster. What is missing in this statement is that actual monitoring for thyroid cancers in Chernobyl children did NOT begin until years after the Chernobyl disaster. There is NO early information to compare to what is being found in Fukushima.

The levels of thyroid cancers among Fukushima children is vastly different than the health data collected by Japan in the years before the Fukushima disaster.
In 2008 the number of thyroid cancers per 100,000 children were extremely low. Those under 18 had levels of zero to 1.4 incidence per 100,000 children. So far the Fukushima Health Survey has screened 254,000 Fukushima children. The current rate of confirmed thyroid cancers from the Fukushima Health Survey is 12.99 per 100,000 or 29.52 per 100,000 if you use the suspected number of thyroid cancers set at 75.
