  • Big bummer for Idaho and Wyoming as well. Maybe we'll get lucky and a certain religious faction will start yelling holy h*ll.

This is apparently only showing a snapshot in time on one day. What it really means is probably almost all of North America eventually got a good blast of fallout at some time or another. Some places maybe sooner than 3/20, some place maybe later than 3/20.

      • Today is day 1075. I want to see snapshots of ALL days!!

A couple months ago on NETC.com – the Powell, WY monitor repetitively spiked high to upwards of 2,992 CPMs….then it dropped to 20-100 cpms. Has anyone heard of such high spikes before? I feel badly for those folks.

call me stupid (its true, I have to live with it), but the map seems to show that the orange areas are 1/10,000 the maximum, which is also ascribed to the black star out in the ocean, also orange.

Whatever, but the reason the ocean inhabitants will become sick and die is because a percentage of humanity feels NO GUILT whatsoever at gambling all of humanity and other animals never even considered, in pursuit of wealth, control and self aggrandizement. I second that motion. And GE, who designed the plants and pushed them onto Japan, was neither a Japanese nor an Israeli company. It was American.

(On the other hand, not implying that criminally reckless parties are innocent, either. Hardly!)

But that said, the glaring lack of INTERNATIONAL intervention, in fact criminally irresponsible lies by the lies of the IAEA and WHO, shows that whatever bad-player nations caused this, the deadly cabals are institutional, and international in scope.

And just for the sake of world preservation, yes, Japan should have been long since internationally censured, and virtually thrown into receivership. They have no right to destroy the world! Whatever nation they are.

But who gets to do that when everyone is busy protecting everyone else except for protecting US and all the poor plants and animals up for slaughter?

      • Daisy207

Models based on very limited data are 10% of the time 5% correct – by the time you have enough data to get the probabilities high – you don't need the model any more – the data tell you what happened. This looks like a model showing only a one time release – not an on-going event. I don't know how bad it has to be before we are alerted nation wide to a major problem. One good thing is that we probably will not be invaded by anyone any time soon – no one is going to want North America and there is no where for us to go.

  • timemachine2020 timemachine2020

Proof for Kevin Blanche that indeed it was fuku that got him.

  • dosdos dosdos

Keep in mind that this is for that one time period only. There were areas in Japan a few days earlier, to the northwest of the plant, that were more concentrated than anything that went over the US. I'm not trying to downplay the impact of radiation over the US, just trying to keep things in perspective. This is just one time frame out of a sequence. Those concentrated areas were also over other places, including California, Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

    • We Not They Finally

Haven't seen the stats but ebelieve it about Pennsylvania. We have a friend in western Pennsylvania who got diagnosed with TWO SEPARATE (apparently unrelated) CANCERS AT ONCE out of the clear blue. One thyroid, which is still only 2% of all cancers; the other lung cancer for a non-smoker. They operated and thought they were both "taken care of," then one turned out to be stage four.

This is very freakish. We'll never believe that it was not caused by radiation. And that's way closer to the East Coast than to the West.

A very important point in this post…

The map is derived from an atmospheric model!!!
Weather modeling needs to be regarded as just that, modeling
vs "what happened" or "what is going to happen".

I tell you from experience from decades of life near Portlan OR
that one can not put much trust in a weather forcast.
PDX and Seattle have seen major errors in weather modeling!
We know to be ready for exactly NOT what the weather talking heads
predict. Yes, they do get it right…some times.

"Gov’t map shows highest radiation levels were directly over Salt Lake City, Utah…"

No where in the original story does it reference Utah, let alone SLC.

What is more to the point is how the original story downplayed the
    significance of "the event"!!

Which "govt" needs to be clarified.
Not sure that the French source can be construed as "govt".

"Most intense concentration of anywhere in world, including Fukushima…"

    Absolutely WRONG.
    I declare shenanigans!!

Think about it, based on what we already know from following this mess for over 1000 days, there is no way that US fallout radioactivity would or could ever be as intense as at Fuku.

No one needs to be a rocket scientist or nuclear engineer to understand that 3 days of half life decay guarantees lower levels
here in the US vs at Fuku.

    End of reality check.

Just a bad headline, wherever it came from.

    • newsblackoutUSA newsblackoutUSA

fireguyjeff, there were real time monitoring sites in the Netherlands, they had to shut their system off of USA access at the request of our government.

      • fireguyjeff fireguyjeff

        nb:
No question about monitor sites being shut down.
I struggled for many months wondering whether to be outside
or not or whether to run when it was raining.

I know we got a lot of fallout here on the west coast.

My last post was just meant to clarify that the headline was
way off (No Utah, no SLC etc.) in the original story.

However, my point still holds….that Fuku was far worse for
rads than the west coast ever got.

There is now way that we got the intensity of what was spewing
in the early weeks of Fuku and areas near it.

Which does not imply that what we were subjected to was safe
        or negligible.

For the last 24 months I have had a persistently intermittent
metallic taste in my mouth that had never been there before.

I have no doubt (and no evidence) that it is from Fuku emissions.

Just wish we had the data that the Netherlands gear had collected!

My sense of living "On The Beach" just gets more real and intense as each day of this mess progresses.

    • Arizonan Arizonan

You are quite right. There is absolutely no way fallout on West Coast was worse than fallout in Japan. Get real, folks. If you think you have no where to hide in US, think of how the mothers of Fukushima must feel. No where to go except western Japan, and all islands are small. We must all put aside what we are doing as much as possible and work flat out for the end of nuclear power everywhere on earth. I recommend listening to this week's Nuclear Hotseat radio program. Search online.

      • AirSepTech AirSepTech

'work flat out for the end of nuclear power everywhere on earth'

It is a daunting task. The US demands much from other countries due to our outrageous consumption of, well, everything. They too would like a piece of the pie. And they will use electric, as cheap as they can make it, just like we do, to make it happen.

        USA ,#1, produces about 100gw with nuke. France,#2, 60gw.

China, South Korea, India, currently at about 40gw

They are ambitiously projecting 500gw by 2050.

We do not set an example with the new ones, just approved, in Ga.

        • Thanks to the pro nuclear president Obama, first president in a LONG time to approve a nuclear plant..

What was it? 30 or 40 years since the last one was approved?

          How many Presidents was that?

Instead of leading this nation like 'Bully Stick', he is surrounded by jackals, hyenas and wolves, who are intent on slaughtering the sheep. Maybe that is the best he can do, and still stay alive.

          So sad for his legacy…

          Roosevelt:

"We need to make our political representatives more quickly and sensitively responsive to the people whose servants they are. … One of the fundamental necessities in a representative government such as ours is to make certain that the men to whom the people delegate their power shall serve the people by whom they are elected, and not the special interests"

          like the nuclear industry..

what kindergarten class made this model from colored tissue paper and glue then smushed/squeezed it all ? i'm thankful for the detailed fukushima closeup they provided as well, lol
no offense, but how come many of the recent "models" & "graphs" look so childish??
Also, I've looked, and haven't found, maybe I'm not searching enough, but is there an accessible archive of the 'weather satellite loops' of the pacific from 3-11 moving forward that we are all so used to nowadays on various weather sites?

      combo:
The color contour map looks like some one simply set up the display
      on course parameter divisions.
What is shown is not uncommon at all for the nature of the data it represents.

      Here is parallel perspective.
The litmus test for how good a printer is doing is to have it
print solid colors, like blue sky. It can get confused on colors
that are right at the edge between two choices and that can cause
pixelation that is annoying to see, yet the blues are super close to each other.

No doubt the data plotted in this story and the agenda of who posted it simply left it looking rather course.

Plus, recall that it came from a model.
And the coders who inherited the task of writing the plot routines
may have been far removed from the geeky folks who were OCD on data for the sake of data.
Hence, the geeks easily inherited a clunky user interface and were stuck with it and got used to it internally to their org.
I have seen these sorts of issues on many software apps where the main agenda is number crunching (design simulators) and the graphics/UI totally sucks and looks/feels exactly as you described…very kindergarten.

10 years ago HP shipped consumer printer UI that was as bad as the graphics in this story. Very disappointing to get the feeling one has purchased something that looks like it should have come from ToysRus!

RADIATION WENT STRAIGHT TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA . . .

I followed the jet stream during March 2011, and the archives clearly show the same thing. Went directly to Southern California.

Also, it was reported the highest levels of radiated rain was Southern California. Many pets got cancer there, it's still unfolding.

And those in charge of weather manipulation made sure it was never ending rain coming down on Salt Lake City, southern Idaho, Washington and SF. Everyday I would check the weather radar and those circle sweeps and scalar squares were continuous. People were complaining about the constant rain in those areas. Some enenewsers reported an unusual number of friends and family members becoming very ill and even dying and also of compromised immune systems. I watched the weather like a hawk because I family/friends in all of those areas.

That 'area of radiation' had to come over parts of the Western USA to get there! Anyone checking out the Washington State/Oregon/California coast areas? The farming areas where people were out in the fields PLANTING in the March time frame? The cancer increases? Just heard of a 18 yr old coming down with AML (Leukemia)..after an entire farming community she lived in had fairly high numbers of cancer deaths and stokes. Of course, the 40% increase in juvenile thyroid cancer in California is due to pesticides…says the government. And the cluster of birth defects in one WA State area…no one knows. This will continue. And because our government did not monitor the threat to its citizens we all suffer. People would have stayed inside, would have kept children out of the rain/mud, used bottled water until the threat dropped..IF WE KNEW!

No doubt the Cascade Range helped pull that stuff down to the surface. You learn alot about airflow when you start looking at where the damage is on the west coast. Downwind of ANYTHING that blocks the air flow is not good.

      Pink –

Please accept my apology in advance for the 'dunce-ness' of these questions but I am fairly new at wrapping my brain around all of this….

Why would the Cascade Mts pull the radioactive particles down to the surface? Is that due to the snow? Why would anything that blocks air flow not be good?

I am on the east side of the Continental Divide and am wondering how these statements apply to this area.

Also, is it possible for a Geiger counters to test food? If so, what models would be suggested for under $1K?

Thank you very much for your time.

The first one can be bought for approx $550 and covers alpha, beta and gamma.

      • Wyakin Wyakin

WYO- First question you posed to PSM-“Why would the Cascade Mts pull the radioactive particles down to the surface? Is that due to the snow…?”

Precipitation carries airborne particulates, including those that are radioactive, to the ground. PSM is referring to the atmospheric influence expressed by West coast mountain ranges (concepts are applicable more or less everywhere with H20 vapor in the air).

Condensation occurs when water vapor is changed into either a liquid or solid, due to air being cooled to its saturation point.
In the context of the Cascades, it occurs primarily through two mechanisms: 1) abatic or convective cooling- When air that has been warmed in the day rises as thermals, the air expands as it rises which uses energy. It is the loss of pressure with height that leads to cooling. 2)Orographic cooling: When moist air rises due to crossing a mountain barrier or meeting a mass of air that is colder and denser than itself.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precipitation

Lots of precipitation with FU radiation fell to the West of the cascades, with less so on the East side. As we are discovering( as in UT), fallout has been spread across North America and beyond.

WYO-“I am on the east side of the Continental Divide…wondering how these statements apply to this area.” The Continental Divide extends from the Bering Strait to the Strait of Magellan. The answer depends on your location. Try to follow established monitoring networks, and monitor…
