Interview with Dr. Brad Sample, ecotoxicologist and Hazard/Risk Assessment Editor for ‘Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry’ (at 8:10 in): “The event [at Fukushima Daiichi] is unprecedented in scale and duration.” >> Full interview here

IRSN News Magazine – Fukushima special report (pdf): “The Fukushima disaster far exceeded any crisis previously encountered”

Fukushima Accident — Contamination of People and the Environment, IRSN (emphasis added):

  • 6:45 in — Didier Champion, IRSN: “Japanese authorities… measured… 15 million Bq/m2 for Cs-137 for example. This is quite comparable to that we see in the most contaminated areas around the Chernobyl accident.”
  • 7:00 in — Researchers have mapped the contamination of soil… It goes far beyond the evacuation zone, and extends to more than 80 miles away — agricultural and urban areas inhabited by hundreds of thousands of people.

Jacques Repussard, IRSN Director General (at 5:15 in): “These are such serious accidents covering so many aspects of life in a country… The ability of associations, of local elected officials, to act in an intelligent and in an efficient manner, is a great resource. And also a factor in social cohesion in a disuniting situation, where there is a risk of destruction of the society.” >> Watch video here

Fukushima Accident — Response of the Japanese Society, IRSN (at 1:30 in): 60 kilometers from the power plant, farmers organized themselves collectively [and] turned to a researcher in bioscience from Dokkyu Medical University [Dr. Shingo Kimura]… They travel the region to measure contamination on roadsides, in fields, and even within homes… Along this road the dosimeter shows a gamma wave radiation level at more than 50 microsieverts per hour — a tremendous level akin to the highest contamination from Chernobyl. I really don't understand how much time we have left. Would any one like to make an educated guess. For example, the people living within the 60 km area they mention. What about the Americans stationed at naval bases in Japan? What about the people living in Southern California or Miami Fl? I see everything from fish to horses dying, but very little on people. What is the real story? Pretty depressing I know but we are constantly being lied to. Is it safe to even visit Hawaii? What will the world population look like in 50 years? Also, can anyone recommend other good sites like this one. Thanks.

No one knows…we just know its happening. The emotions we have are because the event in spacetime has happened already… It too sad to even talk about anymore; sad that people only come back once when they are in deep trouble :(.

If the number of people dying of cancer is spiking and living things in the Pacific Ocean are dying off, it will not be attributed to Fukushima. But if the data is presented to people on a timeline, showing pre- and post-3-11, sensible people will make the correct conclusion for themselves. I'm guessing that it will be very difficult to find those numbers though. It seems the world governments, news media and many scientists are in the pockets of the nuke industry and will continue to remain silent long after it becomes obvious to people with their eyes open. I still read things like "more people died from stress, than from the radiation from Chernobyl." Claims like this are tossed around on message boards all the time. A most absurd statement, but apparently accepted by a world full of zombie sheep.

    • look at the history of Chernobyl, but extrapolate exponential effects and more rapid timeline because the MOX mix and ongoing long term criticality issues did not exist in Chernobyl's event. There are already on last three years women in Japan who have aborted babies and many showing signs of internal contamination. I keep saying that by 2016 it will be very obvious, best to get out now before more contamination occurs. Horses, other animals, plants get higher levels of exposure than people.

      I have the same questions!
I'm not a scientist, but I'm assuming that the reason it's affecting the fish is because 1) They are in direct contact with the poison 2)The DNA of the next generation of fish that are severely altered, crippling their chances of survival.
Same with the land species, but they are only getting doused intermittently by airborne contaminants and radioactive rain; they aren't bathing in it like all of the poor helpless marine species (who are also breathing it with every breath)!
That's just my guess. I'm sure we'll begin to really experience some issues when the babies that were born post 311 get a little older.

For all of the expert newsers here; do I sorta have the gist of it or am I way way off?? It's common sense really, isn't it?

Thanks everyone for all that you do!!

Fish may die off in great numbers and show very little signs of radiation poisoning. There is also the food chain, which all species in the animal kingdom are part of. If fish or snails or mammals start dying off in great numbers, it may not be apparent that FUKU was the culprit. They may be dying of starvation because their food source was contaminated and died off. It's an illusive and messed up situation and we're all part of it. Need to shut these things down all over the planet and start thinking about how we can survive as a species. That being said, it looks pretty hopeless for life on earth. We suck.

    • Probably the saddest part of it all is that we do have time left. Persistent low-level radiation injected into an already BombTested-Chernobyl environment means bioaccumulation and, for those far from the plant – slow-moving diseases and ailments – starting around now (about 3 or 4 years after the event).

Proving that those ailments are Fukey-induced will be well nigh impossible, as those on the aircraft carrier know. So, U.S. personnel at Japanese naval bases are essentially toast.

I wouldn't go anywhere near Hawaii. Or the Marshall Islands.

    • We Not They Finally

harv, your probing questions are being brought to the right place, but undoubtedly have disturbing answers. And YES, since we are being lied to massively from the start, the best may be RELATIVE safety (like try to live away from the West Coast, but that still won't guarantee,) and RELATIVE health protection through natural foods and supplements. Especially good are MINERAL supplements — many radionuclides supplant minerals in the body — like cesium for potassium, plutonium for iron, uranium for magnesium, strontium for calcium. And we all need enough natural iodine. Ironically what used to be great was spirulina and kelp, but now sea sources are questionable.

Animals and plants have shorter life cycles than humans, with quick generational turnovers, so the destruction (especially genetic mutation) shows up faster. And of course the sea is dying because the plankton is apparently already badly "hit" (the uranium and plutonium that blew up and then filtered down from the atmosphere all across the ocean,) and that first bio-accumulates to MANY times its original poison, then bio-magnifies up the food chain.

If you have spiritual beliefs, it may be a good time to strengthen them. And to join with like-minded people.

No one is putting timers on this. Maybe because it really is just that scary. But we're still humans, we still have our awareness, our compassion, our resourcefulness. Good luck.

harv33021- A good start is to get the book "Deadly Deceit" written in the early nineties after Chernobyl. "–the grisly truth behind the widespread effects of low level nuclear radiation." Linked below to a used copy as it is out of print.

This book explains how many people died in the USA in the first months after Chernobyl. It is written from a Statistician who uses hard evidence to prove millions of people will/have ultimately died from Chernobyl. Fukushima is closer to the North American Continent and has been continuously flowing man made radioactivenucleides into the environment for 1256 days.

This has been a very hot political topic behind closed doors. The Pacific eco-system is dying. When that happens in earnest, all hell will break lose because the food/economy (property values and jobs) will take a huge hit and the economy is already fragile and backsliding. These economic troubles seem to be by design and the corrupt administration will milk it for what it's worth.

I predict in one year the economy, illegal invasion and radiation poisoning will drag the US into Marshall Law and dictatorship.

It is from 2011.The interviewer and fiorst speaker- they are remarkably frank and dispassionate and sound like they are NOT BSing.
First speaker says- Igor Linkoff (with experience from Tchernoble)- he says that FUNGI AND MICROORGANISMS TRANSFER RADIONUCLIDES FROM TOP SOIL INTO GROUND WATER. He clearly lays out the difference between exposure risks from external and internal radiation. Says the damage they do are different- short tern and long term….and mentions exposure effects on baseline and enhanced CANCER risks due to enhanced radiation. Both speakers (there are 2) say Fuku is unprewcedented worst continuing accident, on going with no end in site.
The second speaker (brad sample) seems to me full of BS: He denies bioaccummulation in predators and to those higher in food chain. He denies health effect seriousness from food chain accumulation and he never even mentions generational mutations and generational increased damage due to radiation induced dna damage. The interviewer ends with: I wish we could discuss this more but we are out of time. The second speaker sucks. The first one rocked. BTW I could only play the podcast on internet explorer, not on safari or firefox……

  • We have not felt the full effects of Chernobyl yet. In 2016 we will find the mega amounts of Cs137/134 changing into Barium. There is already too much in the air. When it suddenly changes all in a short time due to the fact it burned we will then see how bad it really was. In 2041 all bets are off when Fuku Cs137 starts to transmute into Barium yet again in a very short time.

@Ontological, I can see you are talking as if there would be distinct 'events' in 2016 and 2041, which would be 30 years after the beginning of the Chernobyl or the Fukushima catastrophe. 30 years corresponds with the half life of Cesium-137 (but not 134 – that would 2 years, by the way). When you say something "suddenly changes in a (very) short time", I'm seriously wondering if you know what you are talking about. Radioactive decay is an continuous, ongoing process that virtually never ends – it certainly does not "start" after 1 half life and there is no "sudden change in a short time".

What do you mean by "it burned"? What is "it."? What means "burned"?

When I click on your name, I find a collection of photographs without comment or explanation. So, there is no "more information". The amount of information equals zero.

You may have seen the 1959 classic dystopian film On the Beach. If they were to reboot this movie a drunken Fred Astaire wouldn't be yelling at an Aussie cocktail party about radiation levels in the air being 9 times a year ago.

He would be saying a thousand times greater in the country of Japan. Maybe 9 times here in North America. Sometimes we are 30 times normal radiation here in the Amarillo to San Angelo area of Texas.

About 40 years ago I had an out of body experience, not a NDE. I found out they are not that rare. Later I discovered that I had the gift of healing and understood that if I could actually touch someone and instantly heal a broken bone anyone could probably do it, with practice. I believe we are all born with such abilities. Later I became a telephone prayer minister for Silent Unity the oldest phone ministry in the world. More amazing things happened. Finally I started reading David Icke's books in the late 90's and was able to connect many dots. I am not a religious person. I am a spiritual being, we all are. My wife is an Ordained Unity Minister and has a small Spanish speaking Church. By bad example, I give her a lot of material for her Sunday services. Although,I have come a long way since the time when I was drafted into the Army. I was a 24 year old college grad with an alcohol addiction. Fool that I was, I volunteered for the infantry and later volunteered to become the company sniper. I have not had a drink in over 30 years and have not shot at anyone in over 45 years. I think that must be some kind of record. I don't intend to ever do either one of those things again. My # 1 rule today is Do No Harm To Myself or Others and Help People When Possible. I have not gotten around to loving everyone but I try to treat most with kindness and respect. It sure beats the hell out of shooting them.

Brad: "So unlike chlorinated organics and some other, say, mercury, which have a tendency to
biomagnify and get higher levels as they move up the food web, that’s something that does not generally happen with most radionuclides. You will see is that they do accumulate, they are
taken up, and they do get transferred. But you generally do not see elevated levels as you move up through the food web. There will be some radionuclides where you may see those, but it differs with
    — and by and large most of the isotopes do not biomagnify."

"There is a risk of destruction of the society."
That comment should ring loud and clear to many…and it is very true. A disaster of this magnitude can result in the destruction of a society that may have been thousands of years in the making. Aside from the poisons and the health and genetic effects…the information game is just as able to destroy society. This is because there is a massive information gap WITHIN families. One or more people in a family may understand the situation clearly, but the others either don't or won't. In a life or death situation like this, that will break a family up very fast, ruin marriages, split siblings, and more. Easily destroy the society, not to mention extinguish a whole country of bloodlines.

SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — A study revealed that the annual consumption amount of marine products from households has dropped over 800 billion won (about US$786 million) in the past three years in Korea. Such result seems to be due to a plunge in demand of fishery products which require tricky preparation before their cooking, which is driven by the growing number of dual income households, and the undiminished anxiety over the radioactivity leakage into the sea from the Fukushima Tsunami back in 2011. …
… Another survey from the institute, “The Influence of Radioactivity Leakage in East Japan on Domestic Consumption of Agrifood”, shows that as many as 78.9 percent of the surveyed Korean consumers answered that they have reduced spending on marine products since the Fukushima disaster. …

KAMI, Miyagi — Residents of a candidate site for final disposal of radioactive waste emanating from the Fukushima nuclear disaster organized a rally here against a planned government survey for deciding where to build the controversial facility.
Some 1,000 people took part in the protest on July 17, which was organized by residents of the Miyagi Prefecture town of Kami — one of the three candidate sites for construction of a final disposal facility.
Kazuhisa Mikata, mayor of the Tochigi Prefecture town of Shioya — another candidate site for the final disposal facility — participated in the rally to confirm the collaboration between the two towns in continuing to refuse the conducting of the surveys by the Environment Ministry.
Kami Mayor Hirobumi Inomata said, "Radioactive waste should be managed on the premises of Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s (Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant) in an integrated manner." Inomata emphasized the need to revise a special measures law governing disposal of such waste in each prefecture.

Town rejects plans to build radioactive waste site
    Aug. 18, 2014
The mayor of Shioya, in Tochigi Prefecture north of Tokyo, has demanded that the government retract its plan to build a permanent radioactive waste storage site in his town.
The Environment Ministry is seeking to construct facilities in 5 prefectures within the Tokyo metropolitan area and northern Japan. The facilities will permanently hold sewage sludge, incinerated ash, and other debris contaminated with more than 8,000 becquerels per kilogram of radioactive materials. The highly radioactive waste was incurred by the nuclear accident in Fukushima in March 2011.
Last month, the ministry decided to use state-owned land in Shioya to build one of the facilities. The ministry wants the town's cooperation in field surveys in the area. But the town is opposed to the construction.
Town Mayor Kazuhisa Mikata and the speaker of the local assembly visited the ministry on Monday.
They submitted in writing concerns over the storage facility, saying it will have a negative effect on the town's natural water resources and agricultural products. They said local produce will be hit hard by rumors concerning food safety.
