Italian anarchists kneecap nuclear executive and threaten more shootings
Guardian

An anarchist group claimed responsibility on Friday for kneecapping an Italian nuclear engineering executive and warned it would strike another seven times at the firm’s parent company, Finmeccanica. [...]

The letter takes aim at Adinolfi, calling him a “sorcerer of the atomic industry” and criticising him for claiming in an interview that none of the deaths during the Japanese earthquake and tsunami in 2011 were due to nuclear incidents.

“Adinolfi knows well that it is only a matter of time before a European Fukushima kills on our continent,” the letter stated. [...]

Adinolfi, who was discharged from hospital under police guard on Friday after he was wounded in the shooting, said “Thank God I am OK”. [...]

The West has threatened the Muslim way of life and now we have terrorists pushing back.

Looks like more people are beginning to feel their way of life is being threated by nuclear power.

Why can't we all just learn how to get along?

The Italian population voted past summer to abandon nuclear power. Italy's mafia is making a fortune from "disposing" nuclear waste in the Mediterranean Sea, burying it in the countryside or even shipping it to foreign countries like Haiti.

Along with the current economic hardships, the population obviously is having enough of the ongoing corruption. The Italian govmt is currently considering the Army to deal with it:

I'm glad ADMIN picked this story up from goathead the other day!

This is a very unfortunate place some have felt driven to!

I hope some of their demands are listened to this time.
I pray there are no more shootings.
I also pray that there are NoNukes soon.

An advanced species does not need to resolve its issues this way. However, I would not be surprised to see these incidents increase as the damages caused to the public by the likes of the financial and nuclear industries continue to mount.

Those most exposed are different from from those who stand to gain the most from the risks being taken. When the social contract is broken, anarchy ensues.

Some justice for the bastards, who did this, will be their demise; unfortunately, we’re going to go with them.

idou…I respectfully disagree with your statement, "An advanced species does not need to resolve its issues this way." First, I wouldn't characterize us as an "advanced species". This disaster is not the work of an advanced species; it is the work of unfettered capitalists whose greed exceeds their intellect, ethics and moral compasses.

Second, the global political process is broken. The wrong people are in charge. Maybe if the bastards who got us into this mess, clearly understood there are dire consequences for what they do, they might just capitulate.

I say GOOD…waste 'em; and to those who are/were in charge, Fu#k me, now…Fu#k you.

The nuclear industry is not run by capitalists. Nuclear energy is extremely expensive and cannot run without huge subsidies from taxpayers and governments. The nuclear industry is extremely fascist – when private industry runs on government money. The fossil fuel industry also receive government subsidies and pays no taxes in the US.

This type of action is necessary if we plan to live here on mother earth in the future. The past protests, letter writing, dialogue has done nothing but allow nuclear power to fester. It is time to pop the nuclear pimple. Personally I don't condone violence but isn't what the nuclear industry doing now to the human race violent? Sickening and killing children in my mind is an attack on our future and is violent as can be. All the money in the world cannot fix nuclear.

I do not agree with violence even if the person holds evil views that could decimate all life on earth. I still hold hope that there is dialogue we can have with people who still believe nuclear is the answer. Violence only makes both sides harden their views against one another and makes dialogue harder. A discussion has more power than a thousand violent acts. There must be a constructive way to communicate with the nuclear industry to change their flawed logic. May science prevail in the darkness of evil human actions.

A constructive way to communicate with the nuclear industry? I very much agree with your views however if money talks to those nuclear guys how to get it silent?

  • This is the first sign, I know of, that shows the direction this nuke reform will take. We are not talking about wildlife or trees the industry threatens, its human lives that are being eliminated by this parasitic energy form. Of course there will be violence, its a more horrific form they are dealing to the innocent. /rantoff

When they can't win one way, they try for the other. They know the anti-nuke crowd is sworn to non-violent opposition nuclear technologies. When no one was paying attention (pre-311) they could tolerate such opposition. Now that this catastrophe is crawling its way (albeit begrudgingly) into MSM venues and gaining attention throughout the world, the military-industrial-police-state needs to dust-off the old Nixon playbook. What better way to squeeze support from the public than to generate sympathy for the very people who brought about this global nightmare?! So, when someone approaches you to join them in 'striking back' at the machine, be assured it's either a newbie or agent provocateur.

The pro-nuke crowd and their masters are losing on every front and it now remains a simple matter of convincing us (and the public) that they're still in control. If you've been following the headlines of the last year on enenews, you already they aren't.

If you want to see an end to the use nuclear technologies within our biosphere, stay true to the righteousness of your cause. Resist and turn from any violent solution. Hold-tight to the banner of justice and peace. Never accept violence against one-another or nature. Violence always empowers the opposition…

+100 I keep this close at and, it is my favorite poem.

The Masque of Anarchy is a political poem written in 1819 (see 1819 in poetry) by Percy Bysshe Shelley following the Peterloo Massacre of that year. In his call for freedom, it is perhaps the first modern statement of the principle of nonviolent resistance.

Written on the occasion of the massacre carried out by the British Government at St Peter's Field, Manchester 1819, Shelley begins his poem with the powerful images of the unjust forms of authority of his time "God, and King, and Law" – and he then imagines the stirrings of a radically new form of social action: "Let a great assembly be, of the fearless, of the free". The crowd at this gathering is met by armed soldiers, but the protestors do not raise an arm against their assailants:

      "Stand ye calm and resolute,
Like a forest close and mute,
With folded arms and looks which are
      Weapons of unvanquished war.

And if then the tyrants dare,
Let them ride among you there,
Slash, and stab, and maim and hew,
What they like, that let them do.

With folded arms and steady eyes,
And little fear, and less surprise
Look upon them as they slay
Till their rage has died away

Then they will return with shame
To the place from which they came,
And the blood thus shed will speak
In hot blushes on their cheek.

      Rise like Lions after slumber
      In unvanquishable number,
      Shake…

Gather the whole lot of them up,and send them to the biggest oozing boil on the Planet,Fukushima, and get them to CLEAN IT UP.It is their mess, their idea, their business scheme and now it is everybodies problem.Man,woman, child, animal, water, air or plant it won't descriminate . It's time for action and dialogue, end your wars and concentrate on what really is the problem, for there is no carpet to bury this under and the sand is too radioactive to put our heads in.Use the military who have been using this industry for decades for financial gain, the coin has been flipped,it's your call what will it be…….or is it part of another agenda?False flag ops won't get sympathy from me or any of these poor people really discovering the true effects of this Cosmic Treason, the guillotine has fallen but the head not yet,it's only a matter of time which we'll never forget.

Violence is never the answer. We will all suffer if there is violence. Those who use violence may not care who they hurt and may hurt the innocent bystanders and those who are avidly anti-Nuke. The most successful revolutions are non violent. Violent revolutions require more violence after the take-over as in Russia.

anne, as I said, the American revolution was successful.

I am personally opposed to violence, and I believe it is counter-productive in this situation. But things might come to a point where there is no choice.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a committed pacifist. He went through a crisis of conscience before he joined a plot to kill Hitler. He was hanged by the Gestapo. He is now viewed as a hero.

Oh, the ruling elites would just love it if we the people started resorting to violence. Would justify all sorts of crack-downs, round-ups, etc.

Bad idea and frankly I don't really think it is smart to be advocating violence (even if it is kind of tongue in cheek) in a public venue and if it were my website I wouldn't like it.

It's way off-focus for this website.

Hey Pallus, I just have to ask: Are you a plant sent here by the CIA/FBI/Dept of Homeland Security to try and entrap those who may have such violent tendencies?

Just had to ask. ;-) LOL

That being said, I hear your frustration and understand your anger. But violence only begets more violence. Sigh…it's been that way since the beginning of time. Two wrongs don't make a right.

      I prefer a Ghandian approach, myself. :-)

enenews is really unique in the amount of info it presents on this most important issue of nuke power & weapons and the Fukushima disaster and its 'fall-out.'

The forum of reader/participants is also a great thing to have. Some interesting, knowledgeable, and very intelligent people post here – the website attracts many good people.

So, I am dismayed to see that people keep creating problems for Admin. – doing stupid things like advocating (or seeming to) violence, and continuing to make religious posts.

I am sure Admin's job is hard enough and time-consuming enough without loose-cannon readers complicating the situation.

It is just such a no-brainer, to avoid the divisive topic of personal spiritual beliefs, and (duh) to avoid any talk that could be construed as advocating violence or any illegal acts.

So I am all in favor of having a hard-line approach re offenders – they know the rules, or should, and the rules here are few and very reasonable. I haven't done it in the past, but I think I will start flagging some of these posts, if they continue to appear, working under the assumption that it might help Admin.

I want enenews to stay here, keep on functioning! There is nothing else like it online and I don't want to lose it.

I think this Italian nuclear executive had a very lucky escape.
I don't think violence is the answer and one should use the existing law to convict the international nuclear maffioza.
