Title: Interview with Arnie Gundersen
Source: The Radio Ecoshock Show*
Date: April 10, 2012

At 1:30 in

Arnie Gundersen, Fairewinds Associates: The Unit 3 fuel pool should also be a concern to policy makers.

At 11:00 in

Gundersen: Unit 3 is worse [than No. 4]. It’s mechanically its rubble, the pool is rubble. It’s got less fuel in it. It faces the same problem. Structurally the pool has been dramatically weakened. And, god nobody has even gotten near it yet.

  • Do we know anything about SFP 1 and 2?
They are awfully quiet about 5 and 6. I am assuming they also have SFPs. With these a-holes, no news is likely bad news.

    • I believe they were on fire for a while. and lost power even in the last few months. They are all about the fuel pools, they were not running and just being used to store old fuel.

Flap: SFP 1, 2, and 4 all have water on them now. SFP3 is still up in the air, so to speak. (Nobody has seen it for awhile, but all of us were getting our doses., as it fell out on us.) SFP3 doesn't even hold water. As Arnie has said, "The pool is rubble". SFP5&6 were cooled with seawater, I believe. They were without fresh cooling water (no power for well pumps) but had a working generator, and hence did not melt down nor burn. They will just have to wait until the real problems at Untis 1-4 are handled, to be dealt with. If radiation from Coriums or SFPs drive workers away, look for explosions and fires from SFP5&6. The piddley response by Tepgov to date almost assures that this eventuality will occur. Shut all nukes down now! Before they kill us all!

    Thanks Mr Gundersen!
I like how Arnie is literally all over the place – doing visits, interviews, videos – in a tireless effort to get the information out. Raraly a week passes without a statement from him.

    Keep it boiling, Arnie! Excellent!

#3 SFP is in bad shape, but at least #3 building isn't threatening to topple and spill its contents of the SFP to the open ground with a strong enough quake. True, it does have the same problems with potential leaks, etc. that could stop the cooling, but it's nestled in rubble. It's not likely to topple like #4, and that makes a big difference.

They are both (3 and 4 SPF) structurally destroyed…. full of debris and have been burning from the beginning.

Arnie, you and your wife are heroes of mine, Thank you for all you risk to tell the truth. In our small ways, we are trying to do the same–tell the truth despite the risks (in my case, family and friends who think I'm silly to be worried over something that 'happened a year ago'.

So this raises an interesting question. Since we know they use tremendous amounts of water in feed and bleed operations which reactor leaks the most volume of toxic water to the sea?

Probably Unit 3 for two reasons. It is without doubt the building with the most structural damage. A hideous wreck if you wanted to describe it. That lack of structural integrity means it has already essentially collapsed and is just getting water poured over the wreckage to deter visible fires.

The second reason is the Unit 3 X factor of MOX fuel fortified with deadly plutonium, unique among the six reactors at that massive nuclear megaplex. At least we are told Unit 3 is the sole MOX burner.

The MOX fuel is what makes Unit 3 so deadly, so hot, and unapproachable by humans. During the March 14, 2011 explosion a large percentage of the fissile fuel was expelled and a greater percentage of the spent fuel in the pond which was the epicenter of the massive supersonic expulsion. A mini-nuclear event perhaps, or a steam explosion. The explosion sent toxic particles and toxic vapors up into the higher altitudes of the atmosphere and into the jetstream. Bigger chunks fell down on the immediate plant grounds and surrounding areas, some outside the 1,000 acre island.

I concur Unit 3 is the worst rotten apple among the whole spoiled barrel. Unit 3 has far deadlier debris, is unapproachable to stabilize or contain the structure, and will deposit plutonium in the ocean forever.

Reactor3, SFP3, both with MOX fuel, both with Plutonium poison. Blown sky high.

The Japan PM says that if MOX gets into the air, TOKYO will have to be evacuated. Hey, I've got news for you. MOX has already blown sky high when Unit3 blew up. MOX got all over Tokyo! All over Japan. But did you give the order to evacuate Tokyo? To evacuate Japan? HELL NO YOU DIDN'T. So thank you very much for your apology, Mr. PM. But you should be behind bars!

To those who fear an ELE if SFP4 falls: SFP3 blew sky high already. THE ELE IS ALREADY GOING ON! We are probably all dead within 20 years from thyroid cancer, or from other cancers. The nuclear industry has already probably killed us all. Thank you very much, nuke industry!

What to do with all the nuke waste? Why, let's dump it into Tokyo Bay. Let's assure that human beings can NEVER RETURN TO TOKYO. Let's incinerate nuke refuse. That will work, right? If you burn nuke waste, you get radioactive ash and radioactive smoke! No difference in radiation. No change in nuclear radiation. Probably will increase Bq/kg by burning off the non-radioactive material. Morons! Criminals. Arrest them all! Close down all nukes now!

Kevin Blanch still lives on, in spite of lukemia from Utah nuclear tests. Kevin still uses four letter words, but who can blame him? He has been killed by the nuke industry, by the nuke military industrial complex. Kevin still tells it like it is. http://m.youtube

    Interesting.

There has been little if any disclosure on the status of SFP 3.

Much speculation, but here Arnie does touch on it after having long focused attention on the status of 4 and the threat it presents. Now that 4 is at the centre stage Arnie brings up three.

Personally I have lost patience with the shell game. Which is probably not a good thing as I predict we are nowhere near the end of its execution.

Question: How do we enable change?

Answer Each of us needs to send of Leaders info about this and ask them for replies, then we need to publish the answers, maybe have a Blog entitled:
    Leaders Replies to Nuclear Questions
That way we can post names and answers; which we can then use to PUSH for yet more info about what the US and other Countries are doing to prevent a global catastrophe!

    "Just" blogging will not help!
