Fukushima Daiichi: The Truth and the Future
Fairewinds Energy Education
May 12, 2012
As part of a presentation in Kansai, Japan on May 12th 2012, Maggie and Arnie Gundersen of Fairewinds Energy Education answered specific questions asked by symposium organizers regarding the condition of the spent fuel pool at Fukushima Daiichi Unit 4. Fairewinds analyzes the explosion at Fukushima Daiichi Unit 3. Also, Arnie discusses what the future may hold for Japan if it chooses a path without nuclear power.

For the last year I’ve been working with [Former UN diplomat] Akio Matsumura.
Finally, it appears that the world community is listening to Akio Matsumura’s concerns about the pool.
We need to tackle this as a concerned world community.

I guess they mean this:
Canadian Solar reviewing candidate sites in Fukushima Prefecture to use government-backed incentives to build solar panels
http://enformable.com/2012/05/canadian-solar-reviewing-candidate-sites-in-fukushima-prefecture-to-use-government-backed-incentives-to-build-solar-panels/
But, if that Canadian company wants to protect its investment, it might want to watch that DeathPool#4 like a hawk.
If/when the big aftershock hits, …. but, need I say more.

Yet Chinese solar doesn't leak cesium, does it?

Gundersen states that it will take 5 years to remove the spent fuel rod assemblies from spent fuel pool 4. This estimation was larger than my own by 2 years. The need to remove the rods is paramount to survival of the human race yet there is little evidence to show that the issue is being taken seriously. If this was Soviet Russia half a million people would have already been sent to begin solving the problem. Sadly there is a handful of executives and a mafia run government in charge of the clean up this time. In 5 years there is no telling what will happen with the fault lines under the power plant and how much more the building can withstand. The entire northern hemisphere is in jeopardy yet they continue to bicker about weather any radiation was released in the first place. To say I am disgusted is an understatement.

"Finally, it appears that the world community is listening to Akio Matsumura’s concerns about the pool."
I don't see any signs of that yet; atleast not in the media in this part of the world. Whatever the agenda behind this unwillingness to tackle this problem as a world community, (because we know about it, politicians sure as hell know about it too)the agenda is a mighty one.
When it comes to nuclear problems, the government/worldcommunity should respond immediately. This time we saw the japanese government in action and did everything that shouldn't have been done and did nothing that should have been done. We know this so it is out of the question that at least some worldleaders know about it too and nothing happened for the last year.
I hope this news isn't a dangling carrot to keep the informed happy for a while untill it's really too late.

It's debatable not only if the pool is still there, but if it is, if it still has any meaningful radiation left in it.

Seen on HP by outnow:
he pro-nukers have abandoned ship. Their lawyers are telling them that they need to clam up or they might be identified as a part of a massive cover up, is my guess. I'd certainly advise them to keep a low profile. Who knew what when might become an issue in subsequent litigation when the news is fully comprehended and by late manifestation of morbidity and mortality and/or further disasters and more meltdowns occur, as they will. Industry money WAS handed out to bloggers. They created fake websites and hired bloggers along with PR and lobbyists with campaign contributions to be handed out.
The industry can see that by blogging, those with expertise are sharpening the claws of the anti-nukes. This I will call "nuclear blowback." The more they debate, the easier it is to disprove all o9th their contentions by facts on the ground and common observation, along with supressed e-mails, etc.
If this isn't a scandal, I'd like to see what is.

Good point and good jousting, Troll Jousting that is.
Yes, almost all the trolls are gone, strange.

Troll Jousting
Troll Jousting is the act of retorting comments on blogs that have been placed by trolls, or paid commentators who place comments to support a particular vested interest. The
Troll Jouster places comments that show the falseness of the Troll
Wow nice Troll Jousting dude, you really bitch slapped that Troll.
Yeah, thanks eh brah! I couldn't believe that Pro Nuke Troll was actually saying that radiation can be beneficial to your health. I had to slap 'em back in case some innocent

Well, good work dude, keep up the Troll jousting on that blog, and remember, there are NO innocent bystanders.

CaptD,
Happy no nukes to you and yours.
I talked to my dad in California yesterday. He lives about 10 miles from San Onofre. He's been one to tout the current meme of, "Nuclear is essential to our every day life. The anti-nukers are wacco and have no clue…"
I asked him if he's been experiencing any "rolling blackouts or brown outs". He obviously said no and asked me why such a silly question. I simply said, "Well, BOTH NPP have been shut down for a month now. Have you noticed the economy come to a grinding halt, yet?" He laughed and said I spend too much time on the internet and that San Onofre will be reopened any day now.
I had to remind him that the other week they found another 1,000 leeks in the cooling system and that it was octopus that shut the one closer to LA. He laughed even more and said I was reading far too much on the internet… I simply said, "Dad, these are the facts. You can look it you yourself. The facts."
Conversation then changed…

The Nuclear FIX is in…
This is the $moking Gun that has allowed TEPCO to call the shots since 3/11/11.
They are blackmailing the Japanese Government with the knowledge that Japan has had an ILLEGAL NUKE program going on now for many years! The rumors of a secret Nuke lab “Under” Fukushima is only the tip of the iceberg and the truth is that there are many location in or around nuclear reactors in Japan that have nuclear “components” that are being stored for Japan’s defense!
The USA and other Countries have not only known about this but have also helped Japan acquire these illegal “components”:
US Circumvented Laws To Help Japan Accumulate Tons of Plutonium http://www.dcbureau.org/
I hope that Ex-PM Kan can lead the Japanese people away from their Nuclear Folly before Nature strikes Japan yet again! Neither the Japanese nor the rest of the Planet can afford another Trillion Dollar Eco-Disaster like Fukushima; which is still ongoing…

Nuclear's Once Bright and Shiny Future Blinks Out
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/william-bradley/nuclears-once-bright-and-shiny_b_1511873.html
snip
The new French administration plans to cut the nation's use of nuclear power by one-third by 2025. Currently, France relies on nuclear power for 75% of its electricity. (The US gets 20% of its electric power from nuclear.) New Socialist President Francois Hollande's plan would cut that to 50%. He also plans to shut down Fessenheim, France's most famous nuclear plant, which is located in an area of seismic activity on the Rhine River.
Before these developments, Germany and Switzerland both decided to phase out nuclear power in the wake of the Fukushima disaster.

Polluted Ocean, N☢ Problem, it will get better after a while….
Polluted Fields, N☢ Problem, they can remove the upper layer
Polluted Air, N☢ Problem, they can wear paper masks for a while
Polluted Food, N☢ Problem, they can mix the good food to dilute the bad
Polluted Homes, N☢ Problem, they can power wash them clean
Polluted Schools. N☢ Problem, they can clean them off
Polluted Cities, N☢ Problem, they can return soon…
Polluted Lives, N☢ Problem, they can move on…
Polluted Country N☢ Problem, the rich can relocate
With answers like these from our Nuclear Professionals,

… Land based Nuclear Reactors and go SOLAR,
… Like Germany is now doing?"
