Should have built Catch rooms under the reactors for possible melt downs should be placed during foundation construction with lead balls, boron and injection system, as well as liquid nitrogen injection system !Build cover system after melt through has been brought under control or melt through has been completed !
Or building safer reactors with cooling systems, better yet to not build at all and find renewable energy sources !

This is important to remember:
I think it was Arnie who said NRC management is vetted by the nuclear lobby, the Nuclear Energy Institute, before they’re hired/approved by Congress.
Therefore, is the NRC independent if a nuclear lobby is vetting who manages it?
Does this stink of conflict of interest to the max?
Congress should be aware of this, so why do they approve the appointment of the NRC members vetted by the NEI?

Another crystal-clear explanation from Arnie Gundersen of continued madness/irrational behavior and planning on the part of these demented Dr. Strangeloves who hold our lives, and all life on the planet, in the palms of their hands.
Thank you for your imcomparable work, Dr. Gundersen.
All these guys who are doing this to the planet should be required to take the MMPI – I bet many of them would test out narcissistic/sociopathic.
One is also forced to wonder what some of them have been smoking, drinking, and snorting.
We just are not talking rational behavior/decision-making, here.

I neglected to mention the most probable explanation for these ‘wrong-headed’ decisions that fly in the face of common sense, science, responsibile behavior, and prudence … namely corruption, bribery.
I wonder what ‘following the money trail’ would turn up. Just who stands to profit (Westinghouse, GE?), and how much of this is more ‘corporate welfare’- the people pay, the private corporations profit, and if anything goes wrong, then again the people pay, for of private insurers who will cover these projects involving such monumentally expensive risks, their are none.

Maybe someone behind all this is paranoid that if the money trail was followed he then would fear for his life. Paranoia does that, right?

So the hyena’s continue laughing alongside “Gregory-The Jackal’s” haughty directives while they stubbornly cling to their idiotic ambitions & move forward with plans despite us mortal beings whose tax dollars fund their madness?!!~Why can’t someone “human” emerge from obscurity to challenge the candidates who don’t represent a choice at all with regard to nukes as well as the plethora of life-threatening issues facing us here in the USA?!!~I wish a “new” political party with a truly balanced plan of approach would arise from the ashes to at least “try” to displace the idiots ruining everything for any chance of a future for all of us!At this point I can’t think of a damn thing that could make things any worse if a different approach were attempted that might initially have a negative impact on the economy or offending industries that wouldn’t turn around for the better if they put public health & safety & equal focus on the environment above money and stayed on that course long enough to see their efforts rewarded with a happier, more productive population & the young who don’t have a say yet in such matters would pass those values & mission on to future generations! At least I could die without the sense of guilt I carry for bringing my two children into this foul world if I knew somebody was trying to bitch slap “Greggie,The Jackal” & his pack of hyena’s & check their laughter & put them in the lines wrapped around the outside of the unemployment & welfare offices standing in the black rain!!~Damn!-it’s snowing outside now here in Caponeville for the 1st time this year, with 35 deg.F showing up per Midway Airport readings…another suckass day…boo-fukken-hoo<>

my focus on USA policy is based on our history & expectations of “leading by example”,,”Any” responsible leadership and sensible approach by ANY country is,and has been appreciated & worthy of applause as at least it’s a start in the right direction, although present examples of competence displayed by those making sensible decisions is happening at a rate I fear may not be able to keep up with the bio-accumulation of this “known” ELE & those covered up in the past or set to occur.

Just for the record I do know how to spell ‘responsible’ and the diff. bet. ‘their’ and ‘there’, etc. … I need to take time to proof more carefully!
And regarding the ‘money trail’ — yes. Unfortunately, government and big business (and banking) have become criminal enterprises joined at the hip … and of course, the pocketbook.
And they control the drug trade as well (kept illegal to increase profits by approx. 20-fold), and a lot of them are using drugs and booze. It is one messed up deal.

Environmental group raises new objections to AP1000 reactor:
http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/blog/power_city/2011/11/environmental-group-raises-new.html
Environmental groups opposed to Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear reactor contend the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has no authority to approve the reactor’s design until it considers design changes recommended by the Fukushima Task Force on lessons learned from the Japanese nuclear accident.
John Runkle, an environmental lawyer from Chapel Hill, says the AP1000 Oversight Group is prepared to go to court to attempt to block certification of the design if, as expected, the commission goes ahead with approval.
The oversight group, a coalition of several environmental groups, filed a petition Thursday with the NRC asking it to hold off on certification. Runkle says federal law requires the commission to consider safety modifications before approving the plant design.

Groups ask NRC to delay certification of flawed AP1000 reactors:
http://www.ens-newswire.com/ens/nov2011/2011-11-11-091.html
“The Commission will be legally negligent if it certifies the AP1000 without a thorough analysis of the critical issues we have raised,” said Jim Warren of NC WARN.
While the legal motion was filed with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Warren indicated that the groups are prepared to take the NRC to court.
“It’s a shame if a federal court must order the NRC to protect public safety, and to protect the ratepayers from design corrections attempted once construction begins, when corrections will be far costlier,” he said.
But the NRC staff has signed off on the AP1000 certification and the certification package was submitted to the Commission on October 21, 2011.
The certification package was not available for public scrutiny until November 2, when it was placed in the NRC’s ADAMS database as “NRC Responses to Public Comments, ADAMS ML112212319.”
