March 15th, 2011 – NRC debates INES levels 3 days prior to actual upgrade to Level 5, Enformable, Nov. 17, 2011:

[…] NISA didn’t give much (any) explanation of their [Level 4 INES] rating that I saw, but my impression is that it was based on radiation levels measured at the site boundary and the potential for exposure to the general public.

And that was before things took a decided turn for the worse over the weekend.

At this point I think there’s so much that we don’t know about what’s going on, but I think a final rating of at least a 5 is likely. […]

INES I don’t think anticipated the common cause effects on multiple units – does the fact that they’re dealing with potential fuel damage at 3 or even 4 different units on the same site affect the rating? It certainly complicates the response.

I agree with you that its probably a level 5 but told the ExecTeam that Japan had not changed their INES rating nor increased the level despite IRSN and Canadian press indicating that they had. […]

if we go see what is going on in FUKU then we would have to give a realistic rating for the accident.
    nuke reg retard #2
boy I’m sure glad we don’t have to go then.

Fascinating isn’t one of the words I would expect to hear from the knuckleheads at NRC to describe this CF event.
Now that it’s settled at 10% of Chernobyl and nobody died ,they can change the rating back to a 5. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Baby orca found dead on Washington beach

PORTLAND, Ore. — Seaside Aquarium says a newborn orca found dead on the Washington coast died of a stomach hernia and was not stillborn.

KVAL reports the 8-foot carcass washed ashore Monday near Seaview and was recovered by a wildlife officer. He transferred it to the Seaside Aquarium manager for a necropsy by marine mammal experts at Portland State University.

They’ll try to determine whether the whale comes from a resident or transient pod.

The aquarium says baby orca is quite valuable for researchers. It’s the first newborn killer whale to wash ashore in the area in the aquarium’s 16-year involvement with the stranding network.

          • I am 100% certain these recent deaths are attributed to fukushima in one way or another. These colossal creatures, feed among the seals, and the seals among the fish.

There is obviously a link between the oceanic contamination. As these species do not share the correct genes to speculate biological reasoning.

In short. A monkey can not eat a cricket with aids and receive the hiv virus. As they do not share enough common genetic sequences to pass on the virus.

This also goes for Whale vs Seal. As the two have very distinct genetic sequences which Are biologically impossibilities to blame a Flu / viral infection.

            This leaves only one solution:
            Environmental contamination.

The animals are sharing only one trait. Consumption.
They are in a food chain. Fish eat anything from fish to smaller bacteria. Seals eat fish whales eat seals.

That is how theses species are connected. That is how this Cycle is taking place.
This can not be a viral / genetically passive trait. Therefore contamination of environment is the only respectable theory to be represented.

Was there a change in environment recently…
What was the change in environment you ask? …
Well if your on enenews. There is a vast scientific community that can answer your query.

            So I ask you all.

            If not.

            be prepared.

Because I see no larger indication of all hell breaking loose; Than multiple mega-ton animals perishing from radioactive contamination…

And they’d still have to contend with the massive continuing buid-up of nuclear waste that’s “contained”(for now)in all of the countries who use nuclear technology. And that still WOULDN’T be enough to avert impending doom!!-even if it’s a damn good place to start, they have to continue working to develop methods of either “neutralizing” the widespread contamination or some viable method of collecting long-lived ground & water depositions & concentrations for storage until some breakthrough technology becomes available to deal with it!! Forgive me for saying this,but-I personally prefer any species of the animal world over “most” of my fellow humanoid counterparts!People have a choice in matters and ability to chart our own destiny-the poor animals being sickened & dying via our toxic contribution to the environment we share and the animal kingdom adapts to natural hardships while we try to alter & thus destroy anything we touch! The lowly cockroach suddenly becomes a noble life form when compared to TEPCO executives and those foul members of the offending industries & their lobbyist’s & Govt. supporter’s!~It sucks being alive & present for the mass extinction event for which we are both the cause & victim! I need a break from reality pouring from this sites pages for a little while-I’m having trouble trying to process everything going down…I can read’s “good news”(what a joke)about the 10% of Chernobyl bullshit and enjoy a moment in fantasyland unless someone pinches or slaps me back to consciousness again!! • Up to 12 million bees found dead in Florida and no one knows why

Authorities have already ruled out disease, including the infamous “Colony Collapse Disorder” (CCD), as the cause of a recent honeybee holocaust that took place in Brevard County, Florida. The UK’s Daily Mail reports that up to 12 million bees from roughly 800 apiaries in the area all dropped dead at roughly the same time around September 26 — and local beekeepers say pesticides are likely to blame. CCD is the term often used to describe the inexplicable mass die-off of honeybees around the world, which typically involves honeybees leaving their hives and, for whatever reason, never finding their way back home. Mass die-offs associated with CCD often occur at seemingly random locations around the world, and typically involve a gradual process of disappearance and eventual colony collapse — and the dead bees are typically nowhere to be found. But the recent Florida event involved hundreds of colonies from 30 different sites in a one-and-a-half mile radius literally dropping dead all at the same time and leaving their carcasses behind, which is why authorities have dismissed CCD as the cause. Based on the appearance of the dead bees, as well as the synchronous timing of their deaths, pesticide sprayings appear to be the culprit in this case. “I’m a pretty tough guy, but it is heart wrenching,” said Charles Smith of Smith Family Honey Company to News 13 in Orlando. His family’s company lost an estimated $150,000 worth of bees in the recent die-off. “Not only is it a monetary loss here, but we work really hard on these bees to keep them in good health.” The Florida die-off coincides with a recent county-wide mosquito eradication effort, during which helicopters flew over various parts of the county and sprayed airborne pesticides. Officials, of course, deny that this taxpayer-funded spraying initiative had anything to do with the bee genocide, though.

Back to NRC. What motivates them to be quiet about a very bad nuclear disaster outside of their country? Secret payola from GE?

To all you Americans. Don’t be badmouthing the Japanese. Your just one earthquake away from a similar disaster. It is well documented that NRC suffers from regulatory capture. I’m Canadian and I don’t see us Canadians doing anything better except we have less people therefore less reactors. Regulatory Capture is alive and well throughout all governments right down to the municipalities rubber stamping housing developments which add traffic and other problems to the taxpayers who voted them in…..
We all have a hand in this as we have chosen our personal comfort over uncomfortable protest.

But science and medical theory do indeed suggest Tokyo’s radiation levels are not something to worry too much about, not least because of the distance between the capital and Fukushima Daiichi. A little caesium-134 or 137 here or there should certainly not prevent visitors from enjoying what continues to be one of the world’s most vibrant capitals, packed with traditional culture and cutting-edge entertainment. In the past few days I have been invited to a techno event heavily promoted with nice post-modern irony as a “secret party”, and enjoyed demonstrations of the archaic samurai martial arts in central Tokyo’s beautiful Meiji shrine park.

A 20-minute test of my Fukushima rice yielded the same reassuring result. Now there is nothing to stop me enjoying my fresh Fukushima rice in the knowledge that I’m also supporting a regional economy reeling from the combined effect of the tsunami and nuclear crisis. I only wish I had bought more.
