How soon before liquifaction takes the whole site into the sea?
Or are the earthquakes 'intended' to do just this?

Current reports from Japan describe some damage in the greater epicenter area. There were some houses and some roads whick cracked due to this quake. In a hotel, there was a broken water pipe, which damaged the wall of the building.
In the mountainius areas, the earthquake triggered a lot of landslides and avalanches, which were also triggered by a couple of intensive (JMA 4) aftershocks. One of this avalanches hit a restaurant, which was visited by 13 people at this time. But luckily nothing fatal happened.
