Cleanup crews in Fukushima Prefecture have dumped soil and leaves contaminated with radioactive fallout into rivers. Water sprayed on contaminated buildings has been allowed to drain back into the environment. And supervisors have instructed workers to ignore rules on proper collection and disposal of the radioactive waste. […]

From Dec. 11 to 18, four Asahi reporters spent 130 hours observing work at various locations in Fukushima Prefecture.

At 13 locations in Naraha, Iitate and Tamura, workers were seen simply dumping collected soil and leaves as well as water used for cleaning […]

The reporters also talked to about 20 workers who said they were following the instructions of employees of the contracted companies or their subcontractors in dumping the materials. A common response of the workers was that the decontamination work could never be completed if they adhered to the strict rules. […]

“We were told to clean up only those areas around a measurement site,” one worker said. […]

  • Asahi reporters obtained a recording of a supervisor at a site in Naraha instructing a worker to dump cut grass over the side of the road
  • Four workers at a site in Tamura said they were told to dispose of leaves and soil in a river
  • At another site in Tamura, reporters saw the leader of the subcontractor group kick a pile of leaves into the river

    Uncle, uncle, uncle!

    I surrender.

  • This no surprise to me.

All countries with Nuclear Death Machines do the same thing.

The costs of waste and 'so-called' decontamination, if they pretend to do it properly, are beyond reach.

    IMO –
Most of the contamination from Fukushima will be dumped into the ocean. There is no choice for them. They live on a small highly/continuously radioactive island. Japan does not have a big land mass to pollute into oblivion like Russia and the USA.

I don't even want to think of what they do with this stuff in places like India.

"If the reports are true, it would be extremely regrettable," Fukushima Governor Yuhei Sato said. – from article

I predicted we would see the word 'regrettable' used a lot. I am sure it won't be the last time either.

If they think they're getting rid of it, they're not…they are leaving half the globe in ruin: once in water, eventually in air, 1000's of miles away, the contamination that is left is all long-lived radioisotopes in the fallout, the plutonium 4ever as far as we're concerned, the Sr90 will fractionate in the atmosphere and make an even bigger mess…the Cs137 is a metallic particulate that can morph from a gas to a solid spontaneously.

They will all become milkshakes and french fries one day…

Isn't it about time our government, the EPA in particular, DO something to address the need for our military and NATO to stop Japan from doing this to our environment and our bodies?

Oh right, I forgot, unless there's money to be made by someone, the Capitalist Pigs do nothing, and our authorities are just their hired guns, and we, the general public, are once more collateral damage in this chemical, pharmaceutical, radiological soft kill birth control, 70% consumption-based economy.

People live longer, unhealthier lives now, thanks to the Zombie genius of Pharmacology/GMO Design, why not mix a little more fallout into their diets to keep the ball rolling?
