June 6, 2012 tweets from Kuniko Tanioka, a member of the House of Councillors, translated by Fukushima Diary:

They checked the back up circulation (B) just in case, then they found the weakness of insulation between the motor and cable as well. They could see the metal part through the insulation part. For the risk of short circuit, they stopped (B) to fix as well. They estimate 3 days to fix.

The coolant system of reactor 4 is stopped at this moment. The temperature of water is 35ºC. They assume it increases by 0.3ºC hourly. It will be about 57ºC in 3 days. The safety regulation is 65ºC. NISA explains, it’s simple work, it won’t take longer than 3 days.
Tweet at 2:51 AM – 6 Jun 12
NISA explained the reason of these troubles is because the coolant system is improvised preparation. They plan to replace them with better preparation. For the question that reactor 1 ~3 have the same risk. they did not deny the possibility. This is something to concern. I will keep my eyes on it.

The surface water of the reactor almost appears to be at boiling point via the tepco cam this morning…
draining by convection again I take it…

WHY at this point are they still the only ones who are in control of this? We are on the brink of disaster for the entire planet. Both halves of the planet will eventually circulate this poison. Who long do you think it will take before it all goes south?…

"It’s simple work, it won’t take longer than 3 days."
That is under ideal circumstances…but we have a site with numerous reactors in full meltdown/through, and precariously balanced spent fuel pools to boot. Any one minor additional mishap could further upset this precarious situation, so cavalierly stating it's "simple work" and won't take more than three days is not quite reassuring to those of us who understand the seriousness of Fuku…

EXACTLY! Its "simple work" in a normal work environment, NOT in Fukushima. Wonder if the person who WROTE this press release is willing to work at the Reactor 4 to do the "simple work"..bet not. Also, the "temperature", which is NOT being reported..is higher than the stated 35 degrees C…much higher if the steam is already being seen….

I tell you it's a crock…3 days to fix my ass, there is something else afoot for them to show pictures of the burnt pump wires then say it take three days to re-connect the pump. Could easlily be handled in a few hours. WTF is going on. This is a distraction from the reality that they are about to lose control, or they have lost control of the cooling and blame it on an arched out pump. BS

They have several replacement pumps. They are down in the basement.

Seems to me I read where they stated the temp would go up by 0.3 degrees C per hour. How does that sound to some of you that have some experience figuring this type of thing out. About right? Too high? Too low (my guess)?

Earth in the balance due to a single point of failure (a pomp)at a crippled nuclear reactor. Is this a joke? They don't even have a replacement ready for immediate deployment? Contingency plans?
I know for a fact from insiders that TEPCO has very powerful water pomps they purchased from a foreign company (I won't list any name) but that they forgot they had in store the weeks following 311. I'm sure it's still seating in a storage facility with no one wanting to replace their failing HITACHI equipment. Do they have an exclusive contract? Are they scared to break the contract and use another maker? One really does wonder what these buffoons are up to…
