Hiroaki Koide, Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering, Assistant Professor at the Kyoto University Research Institute, Nuclear Waste Management & Safety Expert:

[Melted uranium] soon broke through the bottom of the pressure vessel.

The melted reactor core then fell onto the floor of the nuclear reactor containment vessel, which seals off the radiation and is the last protective wall.

However, the containment vessel continued to break at various spots, one after another.

It lost the protective wall which seals in the radiation. Radiation began to be released into the environment.

Professor Koide remarks near the end that he cannot go back in time.

That got me thinking (both painful and annoying, but that's beside the point):

Say he could go back in time a year before the meltdowns. What could he really do? The industry and lackeys in the government are a huge machine. Randomly tossing a monkey-wrench into the thousands of gears isn't going to stop it and probably won't even slow it down.

Can someone here *please* find the Al-Qaeda connection to the nuclear industry? There has to be a better one than Bechtel's tenuous connections to the Saudis. I think Julian Assange had some dirt at one time, but they killed him.

There must be SOMETHING out there.

If we don't hurry, we're going to have to suffer another round of nuclear re-armament for the global cold war against asteroids. That's just going to be Fukushima-stupid and I can't afford it anyway.

    • We Not They Finally

Who said there was an Al-Quaeda connection to the nuclear industry? The nuclear industry was going full speed ahead long before, and since, the CIA created Al Quaeda in Afghanistan (way back — when Osama Bin Laden was "our friend"). We've diverted the public to think that "the terrorists" are the problem (even though yes, there are REALLY bad people out there), but we are "terrorized" every day by the likes of Fukushima, a terror hatched from out of the Western (including Russia) world. 72 years in the making, still going strong.

Corium1,2,&3 broke through the pressure vessel,
    Broke through the containment vessel,
And melted through the containment base.
Corium1,2,&3 are melting down through sandstone,
    Contaminating the ground water,
    Contaminating the land,
    Contaminating the atmosphere,
    And contaminating the ocean.
TEPCO bases their estimates of contamination on the falacy that the melted fuel remains inside the reators,
TEPCO bases their estimates of contamination on the falacy that the melted fuel remains inside containments.
TEPCO bases their estimates of contamination on the falacy that melted fuel remains inside reactor buildings.
This is why TEPCO can't understand why the land is so contaminated, even in Tokyo and beyond.
This is why TEPCO can't understand how the Pacific Ocean got so contminated.
This is why TEPCO can't understand why fish caught throughout the Pacific Ocean,
All show concentrations of Fukushima radiation 100 times more than what TEPCO expected.
    TEPCO just doesn't get it.

These General Electric designed containments(!) were of flimsy design from the get go. After all GE was in a mood to keep costs down (they still are; the new EBWR is the economical BWR) in order to stoke this silly, god-forsaken business …

the downcomers, all the piping, the holes in the bottom of the pressure containment vessel to let in the control rods (blades) … the silliness of it all, belies the criminality … insisting on having this business with no manufacturer risk. It all adds up to criminal action on the part of this mega-company, which says nothing publicly; the stupidness of keeping all these spent fuel assemblies hanging around the operating reactor …

Hey, Mr. GE? Can you spell STOOPID?? I guess we are all as stoopid as you guys for buying into the lie of "safe nuclear power" a bigger lie than Hitler's "Jews are evil …"

Welcome to the new Radioactive Holocaust. Six million Jews died in Hitler's camps. Ten million Japanese condemned to live in radioactive control areas.

    And the US does nothing.

    And the world does nothing.

Way to go General Electric!! More evil than Hitler … and that's saying something …

Hitler had no use for the "Jewish" bomb …

General Electric has turned the entire planet into a radioactive hot zone. And Mr. GE doesn't even give stirring, rousing speeches …

In fact, MR. GE has nothing to say … just the guilty shuffle, head down, millions of corpses resulting …

When that earthquake hit, it must have tossed the reactor pretty good. Besides breaking up the concrete it was sitting on, the torus and core with its 'legs' and attached piping was put through the ringer – twisting and jumping. It probably broke into more than a few pieces.

And isn't that what you ENEnews folks have been saying all along? Yep.

Go on you tube have a look at the effect of a earthquake on a swimming pool.
Now imagine that pool full of spent fuel bundles, you do not need to do the math the fuel bundles would be tossed around like rubber ducks, that's bad I predict that this caused criticality when fuel became in contact with each other, never mind the effect inside the reactors, close tolerances in effect to prevent criticality?
Remember the zirconium cladding surrounding fuel pellets is the same thickness as tin foil.
Please fill in the blanks as I am no nuclear scientist just a realist.
