Cesium find makes Date rice off-limits, Japan Times, Nov. 29, 2011:
The government on Tuesday ordered a ban on the shipment of rice harvested in two more districts in Fukushima Prefecture, after tests detected dangerously high levels of radioactive cesium.
Chief Cabinet Secreatary Osamu Fujimura said the central government has instructed Fukushima Gov. Yuhei Sato to impose the ban on about 1,900 kg harvested in the Oguni district and 1,500 kg in the Tsukidate district, both in the city of Date.
[...] a combined 3,400 kg of unmilled rice harvested by two farms in the Oguni district and by one farm in the Tsukidate district contained between 580 and 1,050 becquerels per kilogram of radioactive cesium. The government’s limit is 500 becquerels. [...]
In October, Gov. Sato officially announced that test results for rice at 1,174 spots in the prefecture, including Date, confirmed that Fukushima’s rice was not contaminated by radioactive materials and was safe to consume.

I wonder where the shipment was headed before it got banned?
It could easily have been headed to the USA, and once it left Japan would not be tested unless by private citizens armed with geiger counters in the USA. As long as people like Hilary Clinton are content with signing argeements that declare “THE USA WILL NOT TEST YOUR EXPORTED PRODUCTS” US citizens must do it for themselves. I wonder what would happen if Americans started bringing geiger counters into their supermarkets? Perhaps they would uncover some bottles of paint!

I understand law makers are trying to pass a law saying it is illegal to video tape police officers at work….
Sounds a lot like the soviet hate propaganda…”Russians are so dominated by communism they can’t even….report a dead animal or you fill in the blank….freedom has to be fought for.

They are trying to do a lot more than that … TODAY!

It will come to China for sure.
Chinese gov. just agree to relax the restriction of Import of Japanese ready made food, after a jap. minster visited Beijing.
It is very strange news, usually Japan import lots of Chinese food.
They will smash the rice and make taste rice cake or rice noodle and send to China and may be USA.
It is an very good and profitable way to disposal the containment soil and food items.
Chinese and Japanese Bastard always work together..
There is one great book,DEATH by China, early this year about our Chinese poison food and products export to USA.
Now ,somebody should write a book titled DEATH by JAPAN.

“According to PEER (Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, the new standards would drastically raise the levels of radiation allowed in food, water, air, and the general environment. PEER, a national organization of local, state, and federal employees who had access to internal EPA emails, claims that the new standards will result in a “nearly 1000-fold increase for exposure to strontium-90, a 3000 to 100,000-fold hike for exposure to iodine-131; and an almost 25,000 rise for exposure to radioactive nickel-63? in drinking water. This information, as well as the emails themselves were published by Collapsenet on March 24.

Keep in mind that 500 bq/kg will be dropped to 100 bq/kg after one year (April 2012), because 500 bq/kg gives one (average adult consumer) a lifetime dose in one year. Just how much rice registered between 100 and 500 bq/kg that is being allowed to be sold and is eaten by children?

I do not believe the limit will be dropped, no matter what they say. The contamination continues, they redistribute it with burning, and more will come from the moutain slopes to the lower regions. The next harvest will be more contaminated than this.
Water should be the biggest problem now, and I have not seen anything about measuring it. It is crucial to measure and map the water system. I have no idea why do they miss this.
