Title: The Titanic and the nuclear fiasco
Source: The Japan Times Online
Author: Editorial
Date: Apr. 15, 2012
[...] Presenting technology as completely safe, trustworthy or miraculous may seem to be a thing of the past, but the parallels between the Titanic and Japan’s nuclear power industry could not be clearer. Japan’s nuclear power plants were, like the Titanic, advertised as marvels of modern science that were completely safe. [...]In both cases, contingencies plans failed: the Titanic carried too few lifeboats; Tokyo Electric Power Co. failed to develop evacuation and backup plans for its Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant. The design, construction, materials and safety checks were all compromised. The main difference is that the catastrophic effects of the Fukushima fiasco are more far-reaching and long lasting. The plant’s name has already become synonymous with disaster. [...]

The only logical outcome of this comparison i can think of is that Japan will sink into the sea?
Let's pray that doesn't happen.

you should search for the movie 'sinking of japan' on youtube …

I thought you were joking but obviously not. That's quite a disastermovie! I almost think the japanese people are being conditioned; that movie and now the comparison with the titanic.

yeah, no, i wasn't joking, sadly

They say nuclear plants are safe from terrorist attacks… Hmmmm, so why is it that this has already happened?
Atucha Nuclear Reactor Taken Over By Terrorists; via A Green Road Blog

Given the above, it seems quite possible that a small well armed group can take over a nuke plant just about anytime they feel like it.
Feeling safer now?
I wonder if they are guarding those 1000 tanks full of highly radioactive liquid above FUKU? What if terrorists got in there and blew them up? That would be the end of Japan and maybe the world.
I did not see any fences around those toxic above ground metal tanks, nor any security.

Safe from terrorist attacks? Why would a terrorist bother..they probably know its just a matter of time before the next accident happens. Its a very fragile house of cards we have in all this..

Rather common as men age and their stages have an excellent cure rate unless they have their prostates removed and find the stage is a four. Thus surgery and biopsy are a must unless they go the alternative route which is not recognized as a legitimate medical procedure.

Warren Buffet went over to Japan very near Fukushima in an act of bravado. I knew it would be a short time before he was diagnosed with cancer. Don't expect to see him a survivor a year from now.
Why can't these financiers study biology? And why do they have to take us all down with them?
Report Comment
That's what I was thinking!! I definitely remember that Warren Buffet was hanging out very close to the exclusion zone with no mask or precautions, so as to foolishly demonstrate the excellent "investment" opportunities in Japan, even now.
Certainly, Buffett is not a fool, but I thought that was NOT advisable! It proves that money can't always buy your health or smarts, but those 2 factors can be priceless.
There is no way his cancer diagnosis and recent trip into the radioactive hot spots are not related.

And is it a total coincidence that Dick Clark just had a sudden fatal heart attack in Los Angeles??? Sure, he is old, but these millionaires do not have the hardship and stress to suddenly come down with these conditions, IMO.
Aren't the elderly and frail more susceptible to extra radiation?? Of course, L.A. has had quite a dosage over the past year and I doubt Dick Clark was selective about his eating & exposure habits these… Cesium does disable the heart, too…. hmmm?

Who's next??… I know a lot of people in Japan are in for it, surely!

Whoopie. Just posted "Rads in the Nads" as a comment on bincom's Fuku diary at Kos. Came here, and the first thing i saw was your comment. So, here goes:
I posted it as a comment to a troller over there who has been putting all anti-nukers down! I think you know the feeling from HP. Anyway, he posted something about radiation in nuts coming from potassium and radon. My reply was "Rads in Nads" and the Forbes article, to which he again trolled me.

Japan just happened to be where the last nuclear catastrophe took place. The next could be anywhere.
Report Comment
Yep, I really don't like living within 100 miles of 5 nuclear plants and was thinking of moving to Georgia but of course they are building 2 there. I could go anywhere but don't really want to leave the US.

This article was written by the editorial staff. That is significant. Each day we see more and more mainstream articles denouncing nuclear energy.

There are still huge ice bergs out there to be navigated and the needed infrastructural course adjustments to avoid them have not been made!!! Among the many above listed human and nonhuman events that can lead to malfunctions and catastrophic consequences perhaps the most likely and devastatingly ominous one has been overlooked!!!; and that is a "solar tsunami"! Two hundred years ago, before the wide use of electricity, such an event would simply be a glorious spectacle and curiosity but now it has the potential to bring civilization, humanity, and the biosphere to it's knees. Now, what it could cause, aside from every city and town around the world being ignited by electrical fires would be an INSTANT CRISIS among all the existing, operating and idled nuclear facilities around the world. It could be like a seizure to the world from which there is no recovery. We need to fix our infrastructures, not our militaries which to some degree have already been hardened to such an event.
