Title: ‘Radiation divorce’ enters Japanese vernacular
Source: Japan Today
Date: Jan. 23, 2012

“Radiation divorce.” A year ago that would have been gibberish. Now it’s all too meaningful.

You probably get the idea, even if you’ve never heard the expression. In brief, husband and wife disagree so irreconcilably over how dangerous radiation is to children that the marriage breaks up, the fearful party (usually but not always the wife) spiriting the kid(s) away to a new radiation-free domicile and starting anew. [...]

Aera (Jan 16) chronicles Miki, 29, who fled to Tokyo and Tochigi for six weeks with her three-year-old daughter while her husband stayed home at his job

Then she went home, feeling guilty about imposing and about leaving her husband on his own. [...]

[The] government issued assurances that the radiation levels posed no danger even to children, but outside experts said otherwise. [...]

One day she and her husband ran into the husband’s boss on the street and the two men joked about people like Miki who were terrified of radiation. Miki looked at her husband with new eyes. “I’m raising a family with this man?” she thought. “His child’s life is at stake and he’s making jokes?”

Some days later, the child developed nosebleeds for no apparent reason. Did that have something to do with radiation? She recalled hearing somewhere that there might be a connection. Again her husband laughed at her. “Well, that’s it,” she thought. The next day she and the child were on a plane to Sapporo. In September, the couple filed for divorce. [...]

The situation is very complex. It isn’t easy to leave a husband and the life you have built. The doubts, the maybes, the maybe nots run in circles in the head. Note that the article said she felt guilty for leaving her husband; that was why she went back.

Either way, lives are mangled; there is pain on all sides.

      Anthony,

if you are on theWest Coast you should leave, in my opinion. if you come to Toronto I promise I’ll provide moral support. I read that after Cernobyl, women in Kiev were putting their children on trains going away from Kiev with written notes asking people to adopt them. Unfortunately my husband is too attached to our son and won’t allow me to take him away from Canada temporarily.

  • I think there is a greater truth here…

The mother exhibits the bottoms up, feminine, intuitive, direct connection to truth, operating in harmony with Mother Earth, feeling things, and not caring about knowing things logically. There is much less reliance on blind belief systems or adherence to a top down control structure. The feminine aspect also represents an organic, self empowered, self regulating, self aware and conscious connection with the Oneness of all life. The feminine aspect is ruled by an awareness of what is happening in the present moment, combining gut feelings, and watching what is REALLY going on as opposed to what is on the news. there is much room for grey zone ‘truth’, where things are not known for sure, but actions are taken in the chaos and uncertainty of the moment.

The father exhibits the logical, mind based, scientific analysis and top down authority structure. It is not interested in intuition, spirituality, connection to life processes, harmony with Nature or the Oneness of all life. It is not conscious other than of ego, and has no interest in inner growth or self awareness other than scientifically provable facts. Just the facts mam, and NOTHING else. Of course the facts have to be proven by someone acceptable to the power structure or those facts do not work either. Usually this male aspect is enmeshed in addictions to power, control, money, authority figures, certain ‘facts’ even if they are not true, science but only from certain sources, and a political system that is based on a black and white view of the world.

We each have these two aspects within us. How much we feed one or the other determines our destiny as well as actions. Consequences flow from this.

I think the father is just an idiot who believes what he is told and tries to fit in how he thinks he is supposed to at the expense of his intuition and even sexual relationship. I know what’s important in life as do most men. lol There is no logic in his thoughts and actions only cowardice and insecurity. ahem

        Hat tip to that:

I know what’s important in life as do most men.

Too often this is the male attitude, just like big daddy in the white house! He knows nuke power is the way to go and doesn’t suffer from the weak little feminine sensitivities.

        Yikes…We are in trouble.

“His child’s life is at stake and he’s making jokes?”
Does that make him a registered republican? Just wondering.
Maybe he can be newt’s running mate. ( I remember newt years ago leaving his wife when she was being treated for cancer, a class (asshat) act.)
Humans are supposed to rise to the occasion when things are at their worst, but apparently not in all cases.
    Moral fiber must be overrated.

Newt must be due for his next divorce by now. I thought to myself that wife 2 had no business complaining about wife 3, since wife 1 was dying of cancer when she became wife 2. What goes around comes around. Seriously, just can’t believe americans would even consider voting for this scumbag. Americans would be better off getting hit with a nuke than having a newt. I wonder whether political amnesia is a symptom of radiation exposure?

TBS and TEPCO webcams are both showing activity. Those flickering fires at the base of the R3 stack–almost looks like fire is a “ground cover” in one area. Terrible to have families break up due to Fukushima radiation fear and stress during this disaster. Would they have lasted if the nuclear accident had not happened? Hard to tell. Guess the ex-husband now can volunteer to work at Fukushima without worry for a family. He probably will not find any women suitable for marriage. In a short time, he won’t even be interested..

Please, let’s not pull politics into this terrible disaster called Nuclear Damage: Fukushima 311. Can think of stupid stunts pulled by almost every modern president or presidential want-to-bes from ALL political parties. It fun to sling mud, but the dirt goes everywhere. Sometimes just better to keep it out of public forums if it’s not the topic of the discussion are

Here on the west coast of Canada, some of my enlightened friends and myself purchased geigers. Leaving the coast is a hard option. Our life, jobs pensions etc remain in the forefront. The people where I live never talk about it…EVER! American Idol is way more interesting. So our friends load up on lots of supplements, eat organic as always, stay away from fish and keep an eye where the produce comes from. We belong on radiation network, monitor and wait for the high sustained readings that finally make us bug out. Passports are up to date. I am afraid for the young people and babies. It is real easy for people to say “evacuate from the coast”, but where do you go. We have a couple of spot picked out down south. For now, live life, stay informed. This site is truly amazing being surrounded by people….not sheeple!

We have noticed that almost everyone here has or is getting a prolonged cold or bronchial problems. Everyone’s immunity seems to be down. All these symptoms keep going and going. Do you think there is a correlation from the winds of Japan? It really has us thinking.

    • Between more and more chemicals, GMO foods, white flour, white sugar, radiation from nuclear tests, radiation from nuclear accidents, radiation from DU weapons, air pollution, water pollution, ground mineral depletion, home pollution, car exhaust, patent drug side effects and more.. would it surprise anyone to find out that each generation is losing basic life vitality, energy, immune strength, and health?

I am amazed that ‘civilized’ human beings have lasted as long as they have without even more severe negative consequences.

  • Oh, yea, we forgot to talk about the acidification of the entire globe; air, water and ground from burning massive amounts of carbon fuel, which results in the production of increasing amounts of ACID carbon dioxide CO2. EVERY YEAR the concentration of this acid is increasing, and every year, we burn more acid producing carbon fuel.

This makes oceans more ACID each year.

It makes the air more ACID each year.

It makes the ground more ACID each year.

Eventually, if we live long enough, we will be drinking the equivalent of sulfuric acid water, breathing sulfuric acid/gas filled air and plants will be trying to grow in sulfuric acid soil.

Everyone knows about ‘acid rain’… Where do people think that comes from? How long can we keep doing this, plus increasing all other forms of global pollution?
