Nathaniel White-Joyal, Host: It’s clear that the west coast of the United States will be affected by the radiation from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

Akio Matsumura, Diplomat: Let me clarify. We are facing global disaster — catastrophe — occurring. From that perspective, over 40 years, 50 years, or maybe 100 years. We cannot escape from this fact. For that we have to keep in mind. […] This radioactive material, or contaminated water, any cases, reach out to your west coast as well. If you are counting on Japan, I can assure you now they do not take serious action.

It is only in this Information Technology Revolution that such unwelcome (to Big Brother) comments will be archived. Read by few, but the remarks concern hundreds of millions.

Tell your friends and family. Tell strangers. Whisper to folks about the tragedy in Japan. The news will spread over time. Not even the finest spin meisters will be able to stop this powerful news to slowly filter out.

Some of us have been preparing and reacting to environmental side effects for nearly 27 months. Late adopters may have health losses in their family over the coming years of bioaccumulation.

Fukushima Daiichi has at least four huge ruptured and out of control nuclear power units.

There was no safe shutdown. There is no off switch. Human workers can't even enter three of the reactor buildings to repair cracks because they will be killed by radiation in less than 30 minutes of exposure.

Without the internal repairs the three reactors are leaching enormous amounts of radiation every minute into Pacific Ocean. Although the ocean is huge…there will be enormous changes for the worse to sea food and recreational water usage. The nuclear industry will tell you the pollution is negligible. They will be proven wrong when honest scientists perform legitimate studies.

Stay informed because your family and descendants are at high risk for sickness and death. You can limit some of the effects by preventative actions.

Central America – if you've been watching the weather/wind loops – not hit hard at all by fallout. Check that for your family's future. Lots of folks already have moved to Costa Rica. Though, CR is pretty expensive now. Investigate all nations on equator for fallout.

          • We doubt that this is a long term strategy that will work, as radiation will seek to distribute itself equally across the globe.

Although this strategy may work short term, in the long term, the whole globe is affected, and all oceans as well.

There are now so many sources of radiation spewing out their poisons, most of them not reported or in the news, that the best strategy is to move as far away from any source as possible and then use natural chelation methods to deal with the remainder.

In the video, Arnie Gunderson says Fukushima released three times as much radiation as Chernobyl in the form of noble gases and roughly the same amount of cesium. One thing that is frustrating when trying to talk to people about this disaster, is that the radiation release estimates are not even close from different sources. Imagine saying fukushima is 7x or 50x Chernobyl only to be told its the same or 3x Chernobyl. You lose ground. ENEnews would be a much more powerful site for awareness if it had a few confirmed statistics PERMANENTLY listed in an easy to access and digest manner

    • norbu norbu

      +1 CodeShutdown.

    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

later, Akio Matsumura mentions a minimum of 10x chernobyl and 50 to 100 thousand Hiroshima bombs. Chiho Kaneko suggests U.S. policy is not interested in assisting the containment effort, a bold but obvious statement; Matsumura says he doesnt want to talk about politics but raise awareness.

What caught my attention is that Arnie at first says if only we could get more money into the project we could put the site to sleep. Later he says that there is no off switch to Nuclear and admits we have to live with the consequence of nuclear for the next 100 000 years.

If people dont want to be straight and tell the truth, if we soft pedal the information, then we are weak. We enable the greed and control of those who got us into this nightmare. Matsumura is clear; this is a global catastrophe which will have inevitable negative consequence for thousands of years. When is it time to speak plainly about the data, the corruption, point a finger at the culpable? We, the public are also to blame for sick leaders

So what is the release of radiation? 3x, 7x, 50x Chernobyl, take your pick. How many will die? None (thanks kiteman and pronuke) 150, a million or a billion? We might hurt the feelings of the UN, governments and Tepco if we speak the truth.

      • We Not They Finally

Since we are embarked on a future with nukes and only a pitiful few survivors.Of 7 billion how many will still be alive in fifty years? There is now a very black fungus that is showing up with radiation intensity off all charts. Call it the fungus among us.We are watching a quick movement of deadly radiation all over the planet. Is there anyway to stop this unfolding? Its not enough to say its too late but what can be done if anything to turn it all around? It doesnt help to be depressed and hopeless.Could it be that this is what maybe called population control? If so there is something rotten
in the motives of our elite friends.

      Excellent Idea, CodeShutdown! 🙂
      NB, Admin., please.

excellent suggestion CodeShutdown. I'd have to advise that these stats be confirmed by credible reviewers…

    • m a x l i

Agreed, CodeShutdown, this problem plagues me too.

What is needed is at least a short list of facts or even better a FUKUPEDIA.

    • hbjon hbjon

Who do you want facts from? Do your own calculations. 3 million pounds of fuel (give or take a hundred thousand or so) going china syndrome and hopefully remaining under the threshold of criticality. Borated water continues to absorb neutrons on china syndrome surfaces but how big are the insulated pieces of corium? Can the China Syndrome refine itself in ways we do not fully understand? If veins (streaks) of corium continue to form below, they will inevitable reach the water table and aquifers to contaminate the drinking water and the ocean. The steam coming from the ground is highly toxic and they need to continue to collect, condense, treat, and store it for eternity. Again, we are reminded that nuclear is a big mistake.

      • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

hbjon, I agree that by any estimate, the disaster is horrific. But I tell people to go to ENEnews to grasp the situation, and they cant find the statistics. Is it 1 to 3 times as bad as Chernobyl, as Arnie suggests in his educational video?

Scream; "WAKE UP PEOPLE, THIS WAS AS BAD AS CHERNOBYL, MAYBE EVEN WORSE!" Then try this; "WAKE UP! There's THREE UNCONTAINABLE NUKE MELTDOWNS equal to THREE THOUSAND HIROSHIMA BOMBS EACH AND EVERY DAY!!" Better have your facts straight though, otherwise its really embarrassing.

Do you think half the population will die from this in the next 40 years, or will it be 0.04 percent…three times Chernobyl, and 1/8 as many as have died from AIDS? Estimates approach zero deaths from nuclear, as per Kiteman.

"WAKE UP!" (shaking his neighbor by the shoulders) "0.04% of the world is going to DIE! …DIE, do you HEAR ME? LIVE like theres no TOMORROW, 1 in 2300 will PERISH!"

        • Even TEPCO admits that they do not know. They made up some stuff. People bought the estimate, based on false computer models.

          Garbage in = garbage out.

          It is all garbage.

Until they dig into the spent fuel pools and reactors and find out how much fuel is left, no one knows for sure.

  • Heart of the Rose Heart of the Rose

This is the slippery slope of political correctness..I warned about.

    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

what, you get a green light if you say equal to chernobyl, but a shotgun blast if you say 50x chernobyl?

I see the problem more deeply embedded in the psychology. If you are in a group of people, can you say we have a global catastrophe that may ruin the planet and will inevitably sicken and kill millions of animals or people? Neither speaker or listener want to engage with truth. A timid mention, then a joke is made to pass it off.

The governments are corrupt, the UN is corrupt, policies are ruining the planet, animals are going extinct, womens babies are dying and their lives ruined with medical bills, monetary policy is corrupt and non sustainable. Neither Bush, Obama or Ban Ki-moon would change this, or put a wall around Fukushima. Yet people are politically correct and dont mention it.

Where are the outspoken, the strong, the truthful? Public is like the three monkeys, see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. (not the spiritual meaning) They then appear as stooges. Their faces, clothes and words cant hide it

Subsidence of three feet, wow I didn't know it was that much and as Arnie said you can start a nuke plant but there is no off button. I really hope they do form an independent global team of experts to attack this global catastrophe as TEPCO is losing the battle and private industry is just making matters worse by trying to decontaminate which is totally worthless and creating more of a mess. This is so frustrating if only they had built that trench with Zeolite as Arnie suggested many moons ago. TEPCO needs international help rather they need to step aside or do as instructed by the panel of international experts and not waste another two years spinning their wheels trying to create the facade of cold shutdown. IMHO

    • Cisco Cisco

It's too late. There are some things that can't be fixed.

If they fail to keep the spent fuel pools cool, there will be a radiological fire. With that, some expect we could see 90% of the world’s biological systems go extinct within 10 years.

If they are able to be onsite continually cooling the spent fuel pools and the coriums indefinitely (this is a dream), and continue pumping radioactive water into the Pacific, maybe it will take 25-40 years before reaching that 90% threshold.

Extinction is only a matter of “when”. “If” went away when the coriums got loose.

      • We Not They Finally

Cisco: Its hard to understand where the maxim its too late goes.Unfortunately that seems to be the rationalization to not tell the truth. In this case the truth not only doesnt set us free but it leads to world wide panic..WE are watching the unending disaster with food chain 70& of our Oxygen comes from the stricken oceans and human and all living creatures DNA faces radical mutation. Perhaps even the breakdown of homeostasis. This will lead to massive chaos. This reminds me of a spiritual brother of Nasagadatta who use to say:"what to do what to do what to do?" We dont have any answers.

  • Sickputer

Nuclear proponents also like to point to Hanford and Sellafield leakages, the Russian and US ocean dumping accidentally and on purpose of nuclear submarines, old reactors, atomic bombs lost from bombers, Areva dumping into the English Channel, Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, and 2,000 nuclear bomb tests. They point to those and say…See! The human race is still alive!

They omit mentioning cancer rates and other diseases are increasing exponentially. Advanced treatments rarely extend the lives of the vast majority of toxic syndrome illnesses.

To be fair, there are many other culprits besides nuclear radioisotopes that are wiping out the human race. Pesticides, petro chemicals, and other personal and industrial waste from a plethora of activities. We are all to blame for wanting human comforts that have the waste spinoffs.

But having said that…the radiation danger from nuclear power plant meltdowns is zooming to the top of the list for a rapid human Extinction Level Event (ELE).

Future Shock dangers are nothing new to educated naked apes, but radiation toxins have the ability to snowball faster than any other waste into a global massacre of large chunks of human populations.

Will everyone die in 10 years? Probably not, but all bets are off for an 80-year time frame. In this century humans will either find ways to reduce pollution or there will be a new Black Plague similar to 700 years ago, except this time it will wipe out 95% of humans.

which some would suggest…is the whole idea…

    • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

Some people have hypothesized that the polar ice caps will soon have completely melted. (IMHO, due to nuclear waste and reactors and uranium mining). When this happens our thermal regulator will be gone and the temperatures will fluctuate so widely that it will all be over in a few years.

I think this is also likely due to nuclear power plants, because all the radiation released continually from Fukushima and elsewhere are making huge holes in the ozone layer, which also heats up the planet.

I wish we could shut all the nuclear power plants down, all the reprocessing plants, and never build another reactor. But this probably requires street smarts, not mathematical formulas, so…..

    • Jebus Jebus

      Carefull anne, but your right.
It probably will take many street smarts…
And that will happen, when the next old radiation plant explodes…

    • Anthony Anthony

You are right. I keep thinking when tipping points are passed one sees the appearance of critical mass situation(s). We are past the tipping point in my opinion. Life has begun dying in critical mass for their own species. And that is not my opinion as it is fact.

      • We just passed the 400 PPM CO2 mark.

That was another tipping point, besides the Fuku one with 400 pounds of plutonium nano dust released.

How many more tipping points do we need; forests cut down, depleted uranium use, chemical use, GMO foods, water pollution, air pollution, devitalized foods,

Civilized humans seem intent on committing global suicide, if not by one method, then by a dozen or more.

The only way out is by going inside, which is the last place most people will look.

        • Anthony Anthony

So brilliant, I really appreciate your closing sentence.

  • vital1 vital1

It is not just the direct radiation exposure effects we should be looking at. In the long term more human and animal life may die from the indirect effects of the radioactive contamination, as a result of the weakened immune systems, or from virus mutations.

As radiation contamination weakens the immune systems of animals and
humans, we could see viruses that would normally be under check become more
infectious, or mutation of a viruses strain into more infectious strains.

There are a lot of animals presently dying in large numbers from strange
infections worldwide. Seals, turtles and birds are just a few I have heard

Virus infections may be killing them because their immune systems
have been weakened from the radiation contamination in the first place.

We could equally see pandemics in the human population, or epidemics like the pneumonia epidemic in Japan in 2011 and 2012 as a results of these dynamics. I suggest it also is important that we all look at this issue also, and put preventative measures in place.

What preventative actions can you take if a pandemic, or epidemics started to pass through our world community?

    • vital1 vital1

I suggest it is time to do some research on this subject.

potrblog has been raising concerns a possible pending pandemic based on the recent purchasing patterns of the US government.

Sickputer is dead on and vital1 knows and shares the truth.

Its pretty simple the human genome and other species have to adapt to the constant state of radioactive pollution being released and it will in the form of disease and cancers.

Japan's cancer "red line" is not going down and it is going up and it all started around 1947 which was two years after the nuclear bombs were detonated. This is not rocket science and the "red line" tells the entire story concerning unwanted "Nuclear Contamination" and its effects on biological life.

This is not the Sun's radiation, this is man made radiation, and they are not one and the same. One belongs here and one does not. Can the process of the sun be harnessed safely in the future, maybe, but not now in the world that we have created around us today. The technology is severely flawed and they (the scientists) all know it is, but it is their "cash cow" controlled by them and the elite they cater too.

The world will change in the future and none of us will like it and the Fukushima Melt Down(s) is just the latest controller (police state) fiasco that all our world citizen's and especially the Japanese tax payers/rate payers will have to pay for over the next 1000 years.

Stupid is as stupid does and none of us humans should be considered… intelligent.

To think we humans are actually paying for such stupidity every time we pay our by force taxes and/or our by force energy bills.

When dealing with radioactive material that remains radioactive for 100s of millions of years….I'd say 100 years of hell just might be a good thing. But lets face it, 100 years would change the DNA so much that life on earth, if it continued to exist, would be much different.

I'm already noticing dramatic changes in the garden. One leaf smooth, three leaves wrinkled. Fruit blooming in groups of three, when the tree produced one fruit at a time on the sequence of a limb. Life is already changing and struggling to continued in any way shape or very different form.

I seriously doubt even these catastrophic news bits will affect the "elite's" voracious drive to "have it all". The McCains and Bidens will continue to whore themselves out no matter how near it's pushing mankind toward the abyss, the vast majority of people will continue to blindly follow hoping "our vote" will correct things and remove the unworthy and corrupt from positions of power which will in turn "save us all". Those who have sold out the rest of us along with those who purchase same have already figured out how many of we "Goy" will be needed to insure their comfort and to hell with the rest of us "useless eaters". Myself? I could never understand the concept of a revolution that always seemed to stop short of removing ALL THOSE responsible. I mean, why stop the "cleansing" after removing only the sycophants? If you don't continue said cleansing until those PAYING the little lackies, (lackies such as cops, traitorous military commanders and [most of all] the Bidens and McCains), what's the point? Our kids' kids will be subjected to their treachery all over again. If and when it comes to that, a complete cleansing of the gene pool needs to be executed. Hmm, fitting word?

  • Awesome thread today. But sometimes the truth hurts doesn't it. The Japanese government is still hiding behind the concept of private business. Japan infused a huge amount of money into Tepco to keep it from going bankrupt and is the majority shareholder so effectively Tepco is the Japanese government. Even relying on Mainstream Media, its clear the Pacific is being polluted, three melt throughs etc etc. This is bigger then Chernobyl but as far as accurate measurements go no doubt US Army has the figures that they aren't releasing and the knowledge of where the coriums are and full disclosure from Tepco/Japan etc. We've got nearly a century of studying nuclear technology. They have to know these things as well as radiation antidotes. No I don't believe the privileged will suffer like the masses given any nuclear emission. It is clear that if we lose coolant to the spent fuel pools it will be a disaster. You can find that info in mainstream. Already two (reported) power outages to spent fuel pool cooling systems, blaming the rats. Are you guys for real???!!! Yet the American government appears dis interested in Fukushima radiation disaster/scandal. Yet, for all their subtle attempts to manipulate the people, they've lost control over public perceptions. As they can no longer excerpt control over our awareness, they're falling back to the tried-and-true technique of infusing us with paranoia. Did I read that the Japanese "don't need anyone's help?"

Sounds like some primitive shame there, still.

This site should develop some ideas, and submit any and all just in case someone over there is willing to secretly read volunteered suggestions. — a serious forum. Can we fix this? I would like to go back to trusting that seafood is somewhat safe. I bet I have not eaten 15 pounds of fish since the Tuna test results.

    "Can we fix this?"
Unfortunately, when you're dealing with the safe disposal of millions and millions of pounds of nuclear contaminated material -worldwide – and which has a half life of 250,000 years…well, I think anyone who knows what's going on, knows what's coming down… 🙁

You are so right. This industry if allowed to just continue as is indefinitely, writes all the future chapters of mankind.

Mankind will always have to attend to nuclear industry by products, first-most, indefinitely.

      It will define our legacy.

When will Americans stop thinking that North America excludes Mexico? When? I live in Baja Mexico and let me tell you, we are going to be the hardest by Cesium 137 accumulating in our waters from 2016-2021. We are considered to be the most radioactive coastline due to the Fukushima disaster. The US is not North America, Mexico is too.

No, Mexico is not Central America either. Saying such a thing is comparable with saying that Spain is part of North Africa.
