Huge radiation release led to severity hike, The Yomiuri Shimbun, April 14, 2011:

The government upgraded the severity of the crisis at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant to Level 7… was the decision made too slowly?…

Hirotada Hirose, a disaster expert and former professor at Tokyo Woman’s Christian University, said, “I wonder if the government treated the [nuclear crisis] as a political matter just to try to prevent causing panic and further problems. It’s possible political considerations drove them to downplay the situation in the early stages.”

“The government might’ve wanted to ease people into the harshness of the reality. But if reassuring information is the main priority, people won’t be able to properly prepare for a disaster and distrust in the government will grow,” he said.

The White Lie delayed and not expanding the E Zone has cause countless people to be contaminated needlessly, to ease panic you have given death sentences !

I’m sure the USA, Canada and other countries are currently easing populations into much higher radiation levels at this very moment. The sheeple must ban together and not accept this behavior. We need to know what risks we are facing in our daily lives to at least prepare and protect ourselves. Have we lost all control of our democratic goverments???

We lost control of our democratic governments a long time ago. Politics is just a dog n poney show to keep people divided and distracted from what these criminals are really doing.

The Japanese government did the same thing with the body count. They slowed down the body count to ease the public in how bad it was. I also believe they are lying about the actual number of dead as well. I believe the actual number of dead is well above 50,000.

I agree with you completely — I think the death toll is likely around 100,000. But it’s not just the Japanese government that does this. The US government is expert at it. While the topic is too involved for an email post, I will state (and can back up) my conviction that the death tolls for, inter alia, hurricanes Andrew, Charlie, Ike, and Katrina were grievously understated. Ditto September 11th.
The 1906 SF earthquake is an example of one that was minimized and then later revised. Decades ago it was said that about 500 people died. I always found that oddly low. More recently it was revised to about 3,000 (with no discussion of the prior minimization).
Overall, I think at least part of the motive is ‘keep them shopping’ and ‘don’t destroy the real estate values’.

Yes protect us from the harshness of reality. I am so glad we have governments that will protect us from the nasty truth. Order and control is more important than peoples health I guess.

We might never hear anything either, just like there are no warnings about the gulf.

If they don’t admit it, I guess they think it isn’t so.

We already know this is around us, or else it would not show up in the milk.

We know the longer this is going on, it’s not a good sign.

We know there are no places set up for the public to go under ground, or they would have been assigned to us, like our voting places are.

We know sooner or later our food and water that was gotten before March 11 is going to be gone, and we will be back getting that contaminated ice cream.

Depending on what is thrown into the air, we know it could end up in sudden death or a slow death.

Good luck in finding a place to hide or go if this hits us full strength, unless you have lots of money and a passport.
Personally if I could have, I would have been gone a long time ago

Panic – Why, it won’t help..Instead, turn it around and help those around you. Prepare as best as you can. If you can, go see your loved ones.

If nothing happens, great. That’s what I’m praying for.

I don’t buy this…”not knowing is for your own good” excuse. Along with being bogus I think it’s just a way to keep us focused on our mission of producing and consuming, and not focusing on the issuses of change…..we all know we need to end nuclear energy…..and we need to start now to stop it…..I don’t know why (other than plenty of yen) with so many after shocks and quakes in the area, Japan hasn’t shut down some of the old reators in the area of Fukushima…we need to insist.

I agree .. not knowing is… not for your own good.

From day one, things should have been reported to the people.

Most of us can stand back and see this is not a good situation, just as the gulf is not good. Some people need an official word before they believe it.

I think they should close down all plants everywhere. This earth is changing with earth quakes, polar changes, and so on. Nuclear Power is to risky even in good circumstances.
