The problem is you see is that radiation is just so damn detectable, scares the shit out of people.
I mean everyone thinks that dogs have a great sense of smell but they still need around 750000 and 2000000 odour molecules to track somebody but for a few hundred pounds you can get a box the size of walkman (showing my age) that will detect every single last disintergration. It doesn't help that there are about ten different ways to measure radiation, its effects and amount of contamination.
Ps. Snowwy are you a Brit? Hope so we could do with some more sarcasm around here.

TBL, I am not a brit (german says my passport), i live in the uk for around 20 years now and i have always been sarcastic and cynical even before. i have to confess the video made me laugh out loud… i think he nailed the proverbial on its head. this is what the nuclear industry, supported by the government does. lets get the ones responsible and in denial to live close to a nuclear power station and put them on the dole and then see what they say in a little while.
i wish i had geiger counter money but whenever i have a spare bob, i spend it on things that are needed more immediately.

Thank You Jay Leno! Sometimes comedians and musicians can get a point across and slide right past the big media censorship. Even if it's only for a few seconds, it can have an impact.
I can only hope that this was your overall intention Mr. Leno. If so, then good job.
On closer analysis:
Three points -
1. It's a News Clip from ABC Good Morning America. I guess they couldn't find an NBC clip?
(I wonder if they got permission from ABC for using the clip?)
2. First thing. The person interviewed says, "No Danger to the public, No Danger to our workers."
(I've heard that before.)
3. Question from reporter, "ANY Radiation leak out?"
- Answer: "IF there had been any radiation leak at all it would have been so minor that our sensitive equipment would not have even picked it up." (What the heck?)
So there you have it. His answer really says it all. How can he tell the leak would be minor BEFORE he even knows "IF" there's a leak. I can tell you how. Because that is the automatic programmed response 'no matter what'.
