Follow-up to: Gundersen on WHO: I don't trust their data -- Garbage in, garbage out -- I suspect hot particles and internal emitters are omitted, and radioactive releases underestimated
Title: WHO downplayed health effects of nuclear crisis on Fukushima residents : German physician
Source: Jiji Press
Date: Dec. 16, 2012
A German doctor and member of a Nobel Peace Prize-winning physicians’ group has criticized a World Health Organization report on the Fukushima nuclear catastrophe for underestimating its impact on human health. [...]
[Alex Rosen] noted that the WHO’s estimate on the amount of radioactive fallout emitted from the plant’s destroyed reactors was significantly lower than projections provided by research institutes in many other countries.
The WHO report also failed to take into account the radiation exposure of people living within 20 km of the No. 1 plant and who were evacuated in the first few days of the calamity, after the area was designated a no-go zone, Rosen said [...]
The most flawed aspect of the WHO report is “its apparent lack of neutrality,” he said.
Rosen further asserted that the report reflects an effort to downplay the effects of the disaster, as it was compiled chiefly by IAEA staff and members of nuclear regulatory bodies that were closely colluding with Japan’s nuclear power industry.
“It is unclear why a report written mainly by the IAEA and collaborating nuclear institutions would need to be published in the name of the WHO, if not to provide an unsuspicious cover” for the true radiation levels Fukushima residents were exposed to, Rosen argued. [...]

"Rosen, …called for an independent assessment based on solid scientific methodology that would examine the health impacts from radioactive fallout released after the Fukushima No. 1 complex suffered three core meltdowns in March 2011."
[WHO] "…the organization is as yet unable to respond to Rosen…"

Don't forget that the WHO has a clause in it's "contract" or rule book that they cannot release ANY information without first consulting the IAEA and the information can only be released if the IAEA says it's ok to do. So they are "legally," in law not in real justice, beholden to censorship by the IAEA. I think a mention of that above the article would be good for people to see a great example of this legal censorship. Zero checks and zero balances means complete propaganda and zero to do with health.

Saturday night scattershooting….
The nucleocrats find it incredibly useful and easy to mold public opinion in the direction they wish. Same way with Big Brothers' other toxic ventures like fracking, GMO, herbicide use, coal slurry pits, etc…
They hire incredibly persuasive liars to back up their dangerous enterprises. Backed up by their control of their military, police forces, and the judicial system. It's a big complicated control structure that at times finds the brain dead public actually protesting some egregious actions.
People who protest environmental ravages are like a whisper in heavy traffic. Modern lives are so complicated in technological societies that protests are feeble and virtually ignored. The present day modern societies are like Future Shock on steroids, far worse than Tofler portrayed in his book. Giving survival advice is almost an exercise in futility because of multiple dangers.
There are many more sociological issues that makes this 2012 world incredibly complex. Less developed countries are eager to attain the modern lifestyles of more affluent countries, regardless of the ecological costs. Their citizens may be more likely to build resistance movements. Yet getting a dictatorship ousted is difficult. Syria and Egypt are prime examples.

I wish my mind could downplay the effects of the disaster. Looking at all of the videos with the fog, smoke, mist that swirls about, I can only think about the coriums below the water table. water goes down and the vapors go up. How to stop this? Another night of restless sleep- like all of the others.

Good link! One comment, the "dosimeter tests" are not done evenly. Was surprised to see no results to the SW of Fukushima..very few. And Tokyo has very very few tests shown. Still a cover up but at least it shows where some of the radiation plume went…those poor families.

Even these levels are made up, and downplayed through a variety of techniques.

LDP's victory likely to lead Japan to retract nuclear phase-out goal
"Japan's recently compiled energy strategy aimed at phasing out nuclear power by the 2030s is likely to be reviewed under the next government expected to be led by the Liberal Democratic Party, which has been critical of totally giving up on atomic energy despite the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear crisis last year.
But it remains uncertain whether the new government will swiftly compile its own medium to long term nuclear policy, with the LDP saying in its election pledges that it plans to spend up to 10 years in determining the best energy mix for the resource-poor country.
"The new government may prefer to take plenty of time to work out a new energy policy, saying something like 'We will think whether it is appropriate or not to choose a nuclear-zero path,'" a senior government official familiar with energy issues said."

Here's one reason: "Japan’s Liberal Democratic party has crushed the ruling Democrats in an election landslide so emphatic that together with a smaller coalition partner it will be able to enact legislation even without approval by the Diet’s upper house."
and the other side of that landslide…
"Despite widespread public opposition to nuclear power following last year’s crisis at the tsunami-crippled Fukushima Daiichi plant, parties that had unambiguously campaigned against nuclear power had little impact."

As of today, Japan has a militaristic, pro-nuke, money-printing government, by a landslide.

It gets worse, believe it or not:
"Even more indicative of the rise of the right was at least 52 seats that the Japan Restoration Party is expected to claim when the final results are in. Only founded in November, the party is led by unrepentant nationalist Shintaro Ishihara, the former governor of Tokyo, who has said he intends to restore the nation's dented pride.
He has already suggested there is a need for Japan to arm itself with nuclear weapons, expand the military and revise the pacifist constitution."

How will all those Japanese seniors – in the asset consumption phase of life – enjoy seeing their purchasing power erode?
How many public-works pork projects will be under-used by the declining population?
How much will military spending increase to promote economic stimulus?
How many corporate tax cuts for nuke-tilities and friends? (so they can afford safety upgrades of course).
Think this will impact the radiological safety of school lunches as regional agriculture is "supported"?
How about the provision of special educational material provided to schools for kids to learn about "energy options"?
Now, as before, it is up the Japanese people to set their nation on a sustainable course, but it just got harder.

The Liberal Democratic party, in Japan, is the "conservative" Liberal Democratic party. (WTF!) They are the "Republican's" of the Japanese political system. The constituents of that "democratic?" country are so spun out, lied to, bamboozled, cheated on, and confused, they don't know which way is up.
It's not going to get any better for those people anytime soon…

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't the board members of the WHO not all doctors and did they not take a hypocritical oath to protect the people and integrate of there profession, prove it a we can have there licenses revoked to practice medicine.
It is redicilious that the WHO has to answer to the IAEA and get permission to release data, I am sorry but my welfare comes before national interests, I would rather be red than dead, I am no communist I am a socialist and believe in democracy ( in principle ) and I am only make a point, this is unacceptable to me and goes to show how paranoid the world has become and this is a dangerious situation, something that is paranoid is unpredictable.
If it was up to me any country that tries to build a nuclear reactor or bomb would not get any aid and I would put a embargo on said country and no access to our universities etc, in a 100 years who will not have nuclear bombs with mutual distruction, we better nip it in the butt now it will only get harder all the time.
I don't have the answers only my logic dictates my actions, be well and fight the good fight.

Everybody conspired to cover it up, from Obama on down, with the Marines at Iwakuni Honshu base ground zero drawing the short straw to fall on Obama's tossed grenade. Everybody forgets about the other 50,000 USA troops eating this lethal food, drinking this lethal water, and breathing the lethal fallout from the blasts and burning debris, which Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon (*He went there on 4-19-12)called a World Ending disaster waiting to happen. America's Greatest Threat! He sent letters to my old boss of Energy Chu, the Japanese Ambassador and the President requesting immediate action, as TEPCO was lying about the fallout numbers!
No action came in this "War Criminal Crimes Against Humanity Cover-up" of the truth!
The truth was that all of Japan needed to follow the USSR Chernobyl evacuation distances and snuff these reactors with lead and clay!
It's time to demand action and find a Prosecutor to file criminal charges in the Hague Court and in the USA.

International Physicians Against Nuclear War, German branch (ippnw.de) has published the letter it wrote to WHO. The English version of the letter is at http://www.fukushima-disaster.de/fileadmin/user_upload/pdf/english/who_letter_chan2012_englisch.pdf
The letter contains stinging criticism of Fukushima prefecture's "health consultant" Prof. Shunichi Yamashita for saying that exposures up to 100 mSv/yr are not dangerous. Yamashita claimed that it was "normal" for up to 30 to 40% of children to have thyroid nodules or cysts. The truth from an earlier study in year 2000 is that the normal incidence of thyroid abnormalities in young Japanese children is actually less than 1%.
So Japanese medical authorities are lying about health effects, and German doctors are now blowing the whistle on Japanese health authorities. About bloody time IMO.
"SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN"
Dr Alex Rosen's detailed critique (3 August 2012) of WHO's post-Fukushima health report was sent to WHO with that IPPNW.de letter and is also available in English at http://www.fukushima-disaster.de/fileadmin/user_upload/pdf/english/ippnw_analysis_WHO-report_fukushima.pdf — which on page 5 excoriates WHO-report's unconscionable cover-up of the impact of Fuku radiation on children and infants:
"Biologically, children are also more susceptible to radiation exposure than adults. Their skin…

SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN (contd)
"Biologically, children are also more susceptible to radiation exposure than adults. Their skin has a greater relative surface area and permeability, so that larger amounts of radiation are absorbed. Higher respiratory minute volumes expose them to more airborne pathogens. Higher tissue-metabolism and high rates of mitosis increase the chance that mutations cause malignancies before they can be stopped by the body's self-regulatory mechanisms. As the children's immune systems and cell-repair mechanisms are not yet fully developed, these mechanisms cannot adequately prevent the development of cancer. In utero, the fetus can receive radioactive isotopes through the umbilical vein and can be irradiated radiation from isotopes collected in the maternal bladder. Additionally, radioactive isotopes like iodine-131 are transmitted via breast-milk. None of these numerous social and biological factors are mentioned in the report."
Please read in Rosen's report all the other following sections of what the WHO-report left out and glossed over. It is truly damning, indictable stuff.
Criminal conspiracy by IAEA and WHO? You be the judge!
