Tilted walls found at Fukushima No.4 reactor
NHK
Jun. 25, 2012 at 5:28p ET
Tokyo Electric Power Company has announced the No. 4 reactor at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant has tilted walls caused by a hydrogen explosion in March last year.
[...]
TEPCO first found the tilted walls last month. A further investigation found the damage in various parts of the structure’s west and south side.
The most extreme tilt was on the 3rd floor, where the wall was found to be leaning 4.6 centimeters.
[...]
Tepco on the ‘Tilted Walls’
- TEPCO says its quake resistance is not affected
- Spokesmen said the tilts are all within legal limits, and the walls’ strength satisfies standards
- TEPCO stresses that building is safe, as the tilts were found in outer walls
1. We have confirmed that the building has not tilted by measuring the distance between the water surface of the spent fuel pool and the floor surface of the building.

Hahaha!
"Tepco last month"
"1. We have confirmed that the building has not tilted by measuring the distance between the water surface of the spent fuel pool and the floor surface of the building."
OK – They measure the distance between 2 horizontal surfaces to find vertical deflection. Is that crazy or am I missing something?
That's not even mentioning that perhaps tilting walls might have been a possibility well within reasonable chance, something they might have wanted to investigate sufficiently to determine whether or not it had occurred sooner than a year later.
They don't say this is a new development. They say the tilt was caused by last years explosion.
They say a lot of things. Some may even be true.
Report Comment
One of the truths:
Hydrogen explosion was only the detonator, which caused the normal nuclear explosionin in pool
Talking about Critical is a placeholder topic
Report Comment
Meh. Nothing they say is true, last year or at any time thereafter right up until now. You can add at least a factor of ten to all their contamination/release figures, and that's way conservative – they've been off by ten times a factor of ten. Regularly. Who are we gonna trust about 'tilted' walls, TEPCO the Certifiable Pathological Liars or our not-lying eyes?
Honestly, why they're still in charge is a complete mystery even though nobody else in Japan (or anywhere else) with any nuclear experience is any more trustworthy. But why they're still allowed to say anything at all that isn't automatically KNOWN to be a lie has got to be the mystery of the millennium! So far…

So called stable for now, leaning, tilted walls, damage in various parts of structure’s west and south side building, that's holding dangerous world changing radiation.
What part of this makes anyone feel safe, warm, and fuzzy?
END NUCLEAR POWER

Thank you, good to see you also. I agree our cells must be going crazy. I have things I didn't before also. Since Fukushima Disaster I feel like I have aged years.

Or-well…GREAT TO SEE YOU BACK! Your posts remind me that there is hope and creativity in even the darkest nooks…thanks! And thanks to all you ENEcontributors…for you knowledge, opinions, guesswork, links, interest, humanity, hope…and lot's more. This is a tough journey, which would be much much tougher without the feeling of 'engaged community' that I feel I'm part of here…
Last night mainstream media in Australia finally covered what's been discussed here for months, and it's my opinion that indeed, SFP4 is being championed as the 'possible disaster'(read: no real disaster yet). http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2012/s3532725.htm
No mention of the 'black dust' in Tokyo, no mention of SFPs around the world holding (not containing) around 250,000 tonnes of spent fuel with nowhere to go (see Micheal Masden's amazing film: Into Eternity – Onkalo), no mention of approx plutonium 10% of U3 core aerosolised (6.5-10 tonnes?)and floating around in the planets jetstream and lungs…
..and thanks admin, for your invaluable work.

@om – i have to give credit to smh as well.. they did do a large cover of SPF4. (we did send some emails to them refering to enenews.com, maybe it helped).

"What passes for normal at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant today would have caused shudders among even the most sanguine of experts before an earthquake and tsunami set off the world's second most serious nuclear crisis after Chernobyl.

Safe, warm, and fuzzy? …can't get that from (( any )) nuclear plant, because they all leak radiation.

Too funny, water will always lay level no matter how tilted the vessel its in is tipped, … what a bunch of stooges !!
Try take a level and lay it on the edge of the pool, then check the wall touching it at a right angle…
DUH !!!
Report Comment
Maybe I misunderstood, they seem to be using the water as a level to check the foundation, not the other way around as i had thought …
Report Comment
no cindy, i don't think you misunderstood. the logic of the people in charge defies reasoning. They have used the last year or so to obfuscate the entire scope of the drama.
tepco.jap.gov have reinforced my belief that they cannot be trusted. it's in concrete for some time now.
it start in the first few days of this disaster and as the lies continued to flow from their mouths the more i realised we would never be told the full story by them or msm. no wonder we've migrated to enenews.com

unbelievable. I and many others have been noting the tilt of number 4 for over a year now… why does it take till now for this news to come out ?
crazy.. and they're blind, and rather slow.

…..and here come the admissions. So, the walls ARE tilted….

they've figured out a way to deal with it, rip the walls down.
last time i looked number 4 looked like the colosseum. there's not much of the original building left. (well, for walls that is).

Remember, there's still 3 more stories below that last standing wall. The SFP is on the third floor….

wait, it was on the fourth floor??

Tilted walls, bulging concrete wall, jerry rigged posts, have I missed anything? Livin' on a prayer.

Hi moonshellblue
Since you brought up Livin on a Prayer by Bon Jovi..good song
Thought you would like to read some lyrics of : Papa can you hear me sung by Barbra Streisand.
She is also such a good singer.
Funny how old songs relate to things now.
Papa, can you hear me?
Papa, can you see me?
Papa can you find me in the night?
Papa are you near me?
Papa, can you hear me?
Papa, can you help me not be frightened?
Looking at the skies I seem to see
A million eyes which ones are yours?
Where are you now that yesterday
Has waved goodbye
And closed its doors?
The night is so much darker;
The wind is so much colder;
Can all the words in all the books
Help me to face what lies ahead?
The trees are so much taller
And I feel so much smaller;
The moon is twice as lonely
And the stars are half as bright…
Papa, how I love you…
Papa, how I need you.

Same EXACT number of the wall measurement from prior article.

So, what they are saying that the #4 building has went from a square to a parallelogram. Maybe their algebra is just different than ours…

Yeah… Deal is, their PHYSICS is different. Well, nuke physics is sure different from everybody else's. Guess that's why nukes are hardly ever invited to real physics functions. Nobody likes them, including physicists.

the only safe is the one they put their money in that seems to mean more to them than all of life on earth.
the only thing warm is the cold shutdown. no, its not cold, its not shutdown but it sounds better to describe as a warm cold shutdown.
the only thing fuzzy is TEPCO announcements.
and taking a very optimistic view on humanities potential to tackle a problem, if they mean it,, the only thing we are running out of is time.

Hi NoNukes
I think they mean the walls on the bottom. You are right, there is a big gap and there are only bars that you can see through on top.
We are all in a fine mess.

I am afraid the walls will become floors any minute.

Hi Flapdoodle
Lets' hope that won't happen, but it looks like it could any time.
Their plan so far to me looks like:
Don't acknowledge how bad this is
Cover it up so you can't see it
Incase it, put a lid over it
Sounds like the Gulf Disaster.
