Title: 10:45 p.m. Seismic Activity Reported
Source: Assumption Parish Police Jury
Date: Oct 25, 2012 at 11:45a ET

It has been reported to us that there was a sharp tremor recorded by USGS monitors at approximately 9:06 last night. The tremor was large enough that the body wave phases could easily be identified. The preliminary location was just SE of Oxy #3 cavern at a depth of 500m. There is no additional information specific to this seismic activity at this time.

The west wall of Oxy #3 had the hole in it. Southeast = bad.

Most people believe the MSM and TPTB, when they say that the butane is stored in a separate cavern, and that it is safe from the collapse of the Texas Brine Cavern. What isn't made clear is that the three butane-filled wells were drilled INTO THE SAME SALT DOME JUST A FEW HUNDRED YARDS FROM THE SINKHOLE! Idahopicker has spotted a "path" that has opened in the woods near the sinkhole, and which he believes could become the new edge of the rapidly expanding sinkhole.

This path seemed to suddenly appear a few weeks ago as grass, but is now under water, meaning perhaps that the area is sinking. (The path could have been cut through the woods to allow workers a quick path from the service road to the former pipeline right-of-way, or it could be a crack in the ground, as land near the sinkhole spreads apart, as it is drawn towards the sinkhole.) At the service road, the path is only some 200 yards from the first of the 3 butane wells. Butane escaping out through the expanding sinkhole would be a very large problem, indeed.

53 caverns..I suspect there will be more tremors as the various caverns collapse.

Funny (and not funny at all) how there are earth movements happening under the sinkhole and Daiichi. Why is that happening of all places?

Anyone have a side profile of this dome showing all the caverns or a rough drawing?

Can't believe how shallow the cavern is that they are replacing oil with brine now.

I take it, this is a collapse in slow motion as the cavern(s?) are full of some type of fluids so any part the the salt dome falling in or down has to travel in liquids before it hits or settles to the bottom of a cavern pocket.

Either that or some of the cavern pockets are empty and any falling parts of the salt dome travel through empty space then hit the bottom of a cavern. If that scenario is true, then more sink holes will develop until any voids fill themselves in or unless maybe brine is pumped in first.

Thanks for those links Heart of the Rose.

More than 50 caverns and 50 access wells intruding into this dome. Freshwater finding its way into these caverns will further erode the salt creating more cave ins.

Earlier before the sink hole appeared, they already had high radioactive readings from escaping stored fluids.

A drawing would be nice of the dome and its caverns.

54 Domino effect..think of the first domino(Texas Brine #3 Oxy cavern) falling against one of the other 53 dominoes or caverns….what does the government THINK is going to happen? Looking is NOT an option..action (at least move innocent people out of the path of trouble). Oh, by the way, and PAY them full value for their property value lost..and having to move. When will they be able to get their household goods moved to a new location? Soon I hope.

So, then jec, if this was 500 meters down, which i thought was the full depth of the cavern, does this mean the floor, or bottom domino may have dropped even further?

  • kalidances

Markww do you mean something like this? I know I have another one somewhere. I'll look.

Thx, kalidances, this helps a bit more. Getting an concrete image of all of this is very frustrating. I've taken a lot of geology courses and have looked at lots of ground formation maps, strata maps, etc., but these maps still make very little sense to me, i guess because of what razzz is saying. We get some clue as to who is drilling where, but, no real 3D idea of the sizes of the various caverns, what materials are between them that may let them communicate into each other through cracks and fissures, and still, no idea where the actual collapses and leaking are occurring. They must not be making them available to the public? Surely no seismologist could make heads or tails out of these in terms of the dome collapsing, since they seem essentially to be simple aerial maps for staking out drilling claims. Where are the contour maps, the cut-aways of the location and rock formations for the caverns, etc.? Surely such maps exist in order to okay the drilling, and new ones were recently done according to pavewayIII in the past few years of this very site. I don't see how it would be possible to arrive at an informed conclusion without them.

  • razzz razzz

Normally, without direction printed on an official map, the top of the map is due north.

  • razzz razzz

I got the part about the strata layers with the salt dome traveling up through those and passing through a hydrocarbon layer (oil and gas), unfortunately, that is leaking into one of the caverns inside the dome and showing up at the sinkhole. But there must be some drawings of the cavern structures (50+) inside the dome itself, taken from sounding readings or whatever they use to check for thickness. Need a side view drawing of that.

This dome was not accessible to start a drive-in truck mining operations so all the caverns were created using wells for brine removal, leaving behind voids (caverns) to be used for other things.

The sinkhole, the deep part, has not stopped growing. It will get larger. So will the subsidence region. Gravity always wins.

This link has the profile of the Profile of Napoleonville Salt Dome. Adding it here in case it helps. Thank you everyone for your input & information.

Also adding that there are still 3 sources of hydrocarbons that have not been ruled out unless there is an update after Oct. 21 when this article was posted. Here is the quote from a Link posted by Heart of the Rose. Thank you.

"The 1-mile by 3-mile Napoleonville Salt Dome below the sinkhole contains caverns leased by seven oil and gas industry companies that have injected an estimated 500 billion cubic feet of gas and 200 million gallons of crude oil into the dome's caverns. https://www.examiner.com/article/sinkhole-52-000-gallons-mystery-crude-oil-collected-shocking-growth-exposed

"Through fingerprinting, four sources of the leaking hydrocarbons have been ruled out so far, according to DNR in an Oct. 11 state declaration: "Chevron Natural Gas Cavern, Acadian Natural Gas Cavern, Crosstex Butane Caverns, Residual Gas from 2003 Gulf South Blow-out."

  • kalidances

Here's another one. None of them are that great so far

Thx All. What we probably won't get is a layers map. Ever see an anatomy book with the clear films, each film or page, a new layer of information. You begin with the bones, add the organs, the tissue and muscles next, the skin last, and vice versa, take it all apart again? That's the kind of map of this event that i want ;-). But, making do, looking at the bubbling markers on the map you just provided kd, it looks to me that an entire end of the salt dome is traceable along the route of bubbling, which is a far larger area than the sinkhole circumference. Along the waterways. Or, i just may be tired. Why do i keep coming back to this sinkhole event and feel something is very amiss? Yes, it's different than geologists and seismologists have ever seen, but, it is still being presented as a straightforward series of leaks. Why don't i believe that? There's just something about this particular sinkhole and all the variables.

    • MaidenHeaven MaidenHeaven

VicFromOregon I feel the hairs on the back of my neck on this sinkhole et al. We also know that radiation monitored was 15 times above safe levels on the first rounds of testing. And we only learned because of a whistle-blower. There are too many corporations involved with too much to hide.

  • PhilipUpNorth PhilipUpNorth

Earthquakes in the Oxy3 cavern tell me that the sinkhole will probably double over the coming month. The die off of trees in areas surrounding the sinkhole indicate the poisoning of ground water by petroleum. Have they emptied all the butane in those three caverns adjacent to the sinkhole yet? If you one day see all the workers suddenly take off out of the area, then get in your car and go! And if the drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico are evacuated suddenly, and you live on the Gulf coast, that would be the time to take a vacation up north to visit the relatives. I am beginning to get a very bad feeling about all of this, too. 🙁

I saw someone taking about a version something like this..if this is correct…
…..there is a layer of oil above the cavern.
