(Subscription Only) Title: Fukushima trout log radioactivity level over 100 times gov’t limit
Source: Kyodo
Date: Nov. 17, 2010
A mountain trout caught in a Fukushima Prefecture river [Niida River in Minamisoma city] returned a radioactive cesium reading of 11,400 becquerels per kilogram, more than 100 times the government-set limit for food items, a survey by the Environment Ministry said Friday. [...]
The survey conducted in June and July also found 4,400 becquerels of radioactive cesium in a smallmouth bass and 3,000 becquerels in a catfish in Mano Dam in Iitate village, another municipality heavily affected by the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant run by Tokyo Electric Power Co. It's getting worse …reports of radiated fish is increasing, with radiation levels in the fish, increasing.

Guess they can sell them to the USA..our radiation limits are higher for foods, and we don't test for any radiation in imported foods either. Bring the fish to the USA! (sarcastic comment!). Seriously, if ONE fish is contaminated-all must be considered contaminated UNLESS tested and proved okay. EACH and EVERY FISH!

The trailer for this movie looks interesting. It is a 2010 documentary about a nuclear storage facility that is under construction in Finland. I'm thinking that, coupled with a short about the current situation in Japan, it would be a good choice for the monthly film series run by myself and two friends locally.

Amberlight – I've watched it and should review it myself before commenting but I just caught your note – it's late tonight, and I won't be able to check it soon. Wanted to comment though that yes – if I remember it at all, it definitely is good viewing to add to thoughts and conversation on our 'nuclear world'.

The movie is called "Into Eternity". It's on YouTube for free. The scientists in that movie think that nuclear waste should be shot into the sun. Instead they're going to bury it. In granite. Unfortunately earthquakes happen.

It's all about money$. It's too expensive to fly to the Sun. What if the rocket that carrys the nuclear wastes have a failed mission? Will it fall into the sea or onto a city :O So Japan, France, UK, Canada, US…all are just dumping the nuclear wastes wherever they can keep it secret.

This shit is going to spread into our lives one way or another. It doesn't stay put…there is nothing that can contain it for the length of it's potency. We are in the infant stages of dealing with this crap…the world is getting small and the nuclear waste is getting bigger…..
Crazy people doing crazy things for money.

Here is a comparison to todays reporting on fish contamination levels, this article is from from July 19, 2012.
Compare this to todays article.
Post-Fukushima, Japan’s irradiated fish worry B.C. experts
The highest cesium level in all of the catches came in March—a year after the accident—when a landlocked masu salmon caught in a Japanese river was found to have a whopping 18,700 becquerels of cesium per kilogram—or 187 times Japan’s ceiling.
“Those are high numbers. It would give me pause if I were eating fish in Japan.…Imported fish are also a concern,” said Fisher, a marine-sciences professor at New York’s Stony Brook University. Fisher added in a phone interview that the persistently high cesium numbers may be a sign that the Fukushima plant is still leaking radiation into the ocean.
The data shows the contamination has remained high in both saltwater species and freshwater fish found in Japanese lakes and rivers. Especially high cesium levels have been found in recent months in these saltwater species: halibut (a catch in May 2012 had 570 Bq/kg), sole (a catch in January had 180 Bq/kg), and cod (a catch in February had 260 Bq/kg).

Chernobyl had fish too…

And Chernobyl has some interesting gigantism happening in fish too… I think it was on youtube. I can see people thinking this is a benefit of the contamination. For me the jury is still out.

I prefer fish from natural selection, rather than random mutation…

How about marketing these fish as a Big C treatment? Need radiation treatments? No need to go to the hospital to get radiated, just eat fish from Japan, or Chernobyl, or TMI, or a bunch of other places around the world…
