North Anna reactor leak causes partial shutdown, WTOP by Hank Silverberg, Jan. 3, 2012:
- A spokesman for the Nuclear Regulator Commission says a steam line, which leads to a valve that leads to a reactor turbine, sprung a leak Monday
- The NRC spokesman says there was no radiation leak
- It is the second partial shutdown since the August 5.8 magnitude earthquake that knocked both reactors off-line
- Raised concerns about the plant’s safety
- NRC spokesman says there’s no evidence right now that this latest incident had anything to do with quake damage
- During the August earthquake, there was some damage to buildings at the site but no off-site radiation leak
As long as your starting point is that the universe is disconnected, it will always be nearly impossible to see the many clues that show how a little vibration over here can create a little leak over there. It must be very sad and a little frightening to go through the world seeing everything disconnected and unrelated to everything else.
