Primordial fear: why radiation is so scary, AFP, April 24, 2011:

[...] “How was one [living in France] supposed to know whether or not to worry about a radioactive cloud?” asked Francois Taddei, a molecular geneticist at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM).

“For Chernobyl, we were told that there was nothing, which in fact there was. How does one rebuild confidence?”

“One had the impression – justified or not – that the authorities were lying, and so everything they said was cast into doubt,” said Klein.

The strategy works very well.Tell the sheeple everything is OK go back to work and keep on shopping! If the world had been told the truth about Chernobyl perhaps there would have been a stronger argument to stop nuclear energy. Then think of the money that wouldn’t have been generated from nuclear industry. Since we all now know (we don’t have to have it proven to us over and over again) that the industry is lying to us then we need to use our God given comon sense and put an end to nuclear energy, and other provenly dangerous means of generating wealth for very few and putting at risk vast numbers and whole oceans. If we stick together we can do this.

“Has anyone SEEN any radiation? Then what are you worried about?”

I’m quoting doctors and scientists of the 21st century.
I wouldn’t let these retards stitch me. We are on our own.

Yea, haven’t seen, smelled or tasted radiation.
      Its all good now.
And if I do get cancer, I wont let some hack medical doctor get near me.
We have been on our own for awhile now.

        The irony of radiation therapy

Sam, it just hit me that if a person gets a malignant tumor in the thyroid from ingested/absorbed radiation. That tumor would most likely be treated with radiation. Ironically, with I-131 therapy, the very isotope that would have been responsible to cause it in the first place.

Nuclear waste storage in the U.S.

If you look at the earthquakes in California and Nevada every day and the location of the nuclear power plants on Radiation Network, you can see that nuclear power plants are probably generating earthquakes. Yucca Mountain, not far from Nevada’s nuclear plants, and located on 12 fault lines is extraordinarily vulnerable to earthquakes. Added to the problem that there are 6,000 train derailments every year in the U.S., I don’t see how anyone can think that nuclear waste can be safely stored in Yucca Mountain. And yet here are Republicans proposing Yucca Mt. as a solution for the nuclear industry:

“But Kirk and U.S. Reps. Robert Dold, a Winnetka Republican, and Joe Walsh, a McHenry Republican, said after a tour of the Zion plant Saturday that on-site storage of the spent rods cannot last.
‘We cannot allow the spent fuel rods to be stored on the shores of Lake Michigan, the source of drinking water for millions,” Dold said. “It is time for the administration and Senate leadership to move forward on Yucca Mountain.’”

Reactor at Chernobyl never buried in concrete.

“Mr. Sich said reports during the Japanese nuclear crisis that Chernobyl’s Reactor No. 4 is buried in concrete are incorrect — only debris and contaminated equipment along the sides of the destroyed reactor building were buried in concrete. ‘They did not bury it,’ he said. ‘The reactor building was covered with steel plates, but there are lots of holes.’”

Mr. Sich is an “associate professor of physics at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, spent 18 months inside the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone — a circle with an 18.8-mile radius surrounding the four-reactor-unit power plant, including damaged Reactor No. 4.

“As a nuclear-engineering graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he was the first Westerner to study the accident up close. His peer-reviewed findings were detailed in 1994 and 1995 in three issues of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission journal, Nuclear Safety.

“Mr. Sich knows that the Soviet government failed to reduce radiation levels with unsuccessful attempts to bury the nuclear core. He knows the meltdown and massive releases of radiation ended on their own, but not before causing widespread radiation exposure….

“After the Chernobyl accident, he took a leave from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to seek a master’s degree in Soviet studies at Harvard University. “

France is a ticking time bomb. They routinely and quite brazenly lie about anything to do with radiation, to protect their nuclear industry. If there was a serious incident in France, you can be sure they wouldn’t be telling the plain truth about it. Wise people concerned about radiation need to pay attention to France.

  • A good reminder of what is important in life.

    NEED WASHING?

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in WalMart. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence.

It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout.. We all stood there, under the awning, just inside the door of the WalMart.

We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day.

I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.

Her little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in, ‘Mom let’s run through the rain,’ She said.

    ‘What?’ Mom asked.

‘Let’s run through the rain!’ She repeated.

‘No, honey. We’ll wait until it slows down a bit,’ Mom replied.

This young child waited a minute and repeated: ‘Mom, let’s run through the rain..’

‘We’ll get soaked if we do,’ Mom said.

‘No, we won’t, Mom. That’s not what you said this morning,’ the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom’s arm.

‘This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?’

‘Don’t you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, ‘ If God can get us through this, He can get us through anything! ‘ ‘

The entire crowd stopped dead silent.. I swear you couldn’t hear anything but the rain.. We all stood silently. No one left. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.

Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child’s life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.

‘Honey, you are absolutely right. Let’s run through the rain. If GOD let’s us get wet, well maybe we just need washing,’ Mom said.

Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and through the puddles. Yes, they got soaked.

They were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did.

I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.

Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories…

So,don’t forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday.

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.

I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN.
Plus, it leaves your hair ever so soft.
HAPPY EASTER TO ALL Thank you JESUS For dying for all of us.

I wear a little yellow pen dosimeter in my pocket as I travel around town. I catch people looking at it and both wanting to ask and not wanting to know.

I want to make up a T-shirt with the text: “Radiation is just sunshine trying to hug you”. Maybe a background image of a gorilla eating a banana.
