Read the comments from Japan Today, not not all the "helpful comments"..the one from the new mother saying the Navy flew people home (USA) due to radiation at the base. If Okanawa, then radiation was all over–and the US Navy KNEW. The bottomline, they knew about the dangers and radiation. Has anyone heard about the US families who live around or near the military bases in Japan? I hate just to talk about US..because it is everyone there in a radiation brew…
The poor woman, c-section and newborn, was left because she was "not command sponsored". The CS status is given to armed forces members of a certain rank, and allows them to receive services from US military like housing, access to facilities. Therefore, until she received the designation via paperwork or ? she was just like any US visitor to a foreign country. Sad they had such a terrible experience, its US military service rules..but a post surgical mother and newborn! Not much chance to avoid the fallout.
