This is why they need to move the corium and clean it up properly.

wntf, i still don't believe no one is helping them. lets guess that they were/ are messing with MOX fuels, so much here has pointed to that. this is the biggest experimental meltdown disaster humans have experienced. my guess is that US military and contractors are on this 'like white on rice'. my conjecture is that it is so bad, there is nothing can be done……but that many military paid hands are in place….we just do not see or know what they are doing. nothiing else makes sense. not that nukes ever made sense. but too linked with weapons research potential to not be ferociously studied….

Zogerke I think the same way. There is no way that everyone else is just twiddling their thumbs and whistling. Before I knew anything else about this situation – that was 'my proof'. That we have this nuclear disaster that has been totally shoved under the rug should make anyone suspicious and this is what I say to educated friends, who quite frankly are losing that title. I'm not allowed to talk about Fuku. And it's not because I ramble on about it, they don't even want to hear the first word about it. Well, I don't want to hear about f-ing yoga, or their dog being neutered, or their thesis, or their stupid haircut…I am at the point where I can no longer relate with these people who ridicule me…and for what? For being aware?
Would be really nice if the truth came out, so we could all at least get our told ya so s out of our systems. That will be the only joy to take from this catastrophe and I want it. I want it bad. I'm on friend strike. They will not dictate what matters to me, and friends want to know what you're thinking…or should. They won't even educate themselves on the subject before coming to an opinion, I don't know who these people are anymore. What's going on that has made my friends so incredibly unthinking? These are normally open minded and intelligent people from all walks of life. Are they planting subliminal messages via tv ads or something? Fukushima is fine, have a banana? Silence speaks a thousand words.
          It's a cover up – all I…

LMAO. thanks so much, tsfw, you have no idea how reassuring it is to know someone is going through the same thing. some days I think i have completely lost my mind. but wouldn't it be a good screenplay? small, eclectic group of scientists, mothers, lawyers, philosophers and regular folks meet in an online chat room and discover the "Truth" about fuku and what it will do to the future of humanity, yet no one else will listen!! Still don't know how the movie ends….probably not well…

A ICE – They can get no where near the corium or whatever it is now. Nothing can get close enough to it to touch it and live or keep running long enough to do anything with it. Tepco stated early on they thought it would take twenty years to develop the technologies required to move it in some way.

No. Tepco was quite candid about this early on. They said it would 'be at least 20 years' and tended to gravitate towards longer if pressed. They didn't have a clue how to build, whatever it will be, and in all likelihood still don't. There exists no known technology for cutting up corium into manageable sized bits for proper handling. None. Never will be either….

                Good article.

I contend also that this is an instinctual behavior. It is too painful to think about events like these and since avoiding pain is one of our survival mechanisms it is only natural to avoid thinking about Fukushima, or the NSA or drone strikes or the war in Syria, etc. I think cognitive dissonance is a means of avoiding pain, because it's painful to admit you are wrong or to think about something killing you.

Most people who do acknowledge the deadly nature of Fuku, me included, throw up their hands because there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. The Djinni is out of the bottle and it's going to do whatever it's going to do and none of us can do anything about it but accept our fates and try to enjoy our lives in the meantime.

Even if every single person on the planet woke up one morning and decided to do something about Fuku, what could we accomplish? Besides shutting down every other nuclear facility in the world, which would be a great accomplishment, the damage of Fuku is already done and will continue on for eternity seemingly.

            Good morning, TS.

It's called fluoride, and the religious teachings of self-service and self-centeredness. It is the drug of the masses that so many choose to embrace and consume. It is called, IGNORANCE.

For many, it is easier to be lazy and ignorant, than it is to work hard at finding the truth and then ACTING on it to change the eminent outcome in any possible way. Every single dying soul on the planet has a choice to make every day. Live in ignorance, or live in the Light of God. Every voice is integral, and each one counts. If the mass-mind could relearn to follow their hearts, instead of the liars and deceivers on the TV and in the lame stream lying dying propaganda rags, then they would feel a lot better about themselves being in the Light of Truth, rather than lost in the darkness of real ignorance.

We must remember and allow for compassion to understand the majority of the mass mind just does not know any better, because they are not taught any better. Truth resonates in the heart. The lies and dis/mis-information does not. The lies and BS drive the mind wild with anxiety, worry, and uncertainty. The truth brings a certain comfort every soul on earth naturally resonates with and feels comfortable embracing. Always remmeber, the mind can believe anything, but the heart Knows. Follow it!

              Short answer, YES!

They subliminally say: Be dumb, be stupid, do not question authority or the almighty TV. Always buy what you do not really need. Read your local news rag every day and BELIEVE the BS propaganda. Buy buy buy. Consume consume consume. Never mind the lying talking puppet heads behind the curtain. Go back to sleep you stupid sheep.

The mind-kontrol and purposeful dumbing down of America includes the greatest weapon of mass-distraction ever created. The TV. These evil masterful propagandists have mis-led the innocent nations of earth for decades. Ignorance is NOT healthy or conducive to a natural human beings growth. Neither is the onslaught of continuous measured radiation that is getting worse every day. We all know, ANY RADIATION IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU.

Let your heart discern the truth, not the easily fooled mind.

James, after I stopped consuming fluoride and watching TV, I became able to see the very, very brief subliminal messages which appear in television ads. The ones I saw were for credit cards, for banks belonging to the Federal Reserve. Very, very scarey 1984'ish stuff.

It's supposedly illegal to do it, but it's done nonetheless. You'd be amazed at what I saw. In fact, it was so bizarre I think most people wouldn't believe it if I told them.

Firstly SADBUTTRUE, I feel your pain- I was in the same boat with my kids and I couldn't get them to respond to me for a few months, but once I dropped the subject, they slowly came back to me. They would tell me things like, it's quality of life, not quantity. OUCH, this mother does not agree! A parent wants their child to have both and will move mountains to achieve it. We can move those mountains, but it's up to them to walk around them. Hey at least we planted the seeds though right? At least when it starts to come out in the mainstream, they'll have been somewhat more prepared for it by our previous warnings, and it won't be such a shock or even better; maybe they'll see it coming before the rest. We gave them a head start and that's all we can do and it's more than most are doing so be proud and know that embedded in their attitude is the knowledge that you care about them. When shit hits the fan, it's you they'll trust and want to be with. Keep your chin up, you have friends here.

I posted in 2011 that 2 cofferdams could be dug, 1 between units 1and 2 and a 2nd between units 3 and 4, both to depths far enough below the existing containment levels, or estimated corium levels, so as to allow the building of new, deeper, containtments, into which the coriums of units 1, 2 and 3 could somehow be drained, remotely bulldozed, or otherwise moved down into the newly constructed, long-lasting and waterproof containments.

It could have been undertaken then, or even still be done now with more difficulty and expense, as the coriums have presumably gone to lower depths, and perhaps dispersed.

Russia did not hesitate to dig under Chernobyl and pour a new containment, cover the corium with a sarcophagus, build a new sarcophagus when heat cracked the first one, and then undertake the building of what has become a $2 BIL Noverka Arch that will cover the entire Chernobyl 1 so that the American company can safely undertake the final decommishioning process.

Tragically and shamelessly, today's world nuclear, corporate, political and academic fascist interests choose to refuse any such heroic and expensive world-saving endeavors, which efforts
would endanger their near term financial and hierarchical power
        interests.

Citing cost estimates to stop containment makes you a party to the crime.

Can I argue? That Russia didn't have or spend any such amounts digging the tunnel, pouring the containment and laying the sarcophagus. There never is money set aside or available for dealing with such catastrophies, and they didn't let 'cost estimates' stop them from doing what had to be done, nor should any of our nuclear-corporate-academic-research fascist interests, or any of us other concerned groups, do so now.

Fukushima Daiichi is far, far worse than Chernobyl. The severity is beyond anything the engineers ever imagined, except perhaps the ones that gave early warnings and resigned in protest.

"There never is money set aside…" is another way of saying there's no insurance. They made sure of that in the Price-Anderson Act because they knew damn well the cost of a major accident could be astronomical — in fact, the actual cost of the whole rotten business will be INFINITE.

It is the greatest human folly ever carried out, while its chief imperative of gaining the ultimate power to destroy an enemy nation remain sacrosanct and untouchable by the general public.

              Report comment

        • razzz razzz

Daiichi has a problem with having common tunnels. You really can't trench around the Units without digging through connecting tunnels holding water so radioactive that it might be considered part of the melts.

So they plan on freezing in and around the tunnels so they can pump them dry and decontaminated the radioactive water they are holding. We will see how that goes since cooling water leeches off the melts into the tunnels because the tunnels have been breached. Not only does radioactive cooling water leaked into the tunnels, it also leaks out and onto the Pacific.

Besides if you trench anywhere, it will flood with either freshwater, seawater, radioactive water or all three. Hard to work with a radioactive water table that irradiates everything around it.

How they get the water problems under control, I don't know. So far they have only made things worse.

It is an imposed consensus throughout the nuke industry — a solemn loyalty oath taken by all who serve those corporate interests, to "do no harm" to the bottom line, and to ignore any harm done to the outside communities and the environment. The "good deeds" are done by "defending national interests" and through tax-deductible charitable contributions, which supposedly offset any perceived wrong-doing.

Chris Hedges recently wrote an article titled "The Menace of the Military Mind" that explains this diseased mentality. The original host, truthdig has been reported as an attack site, but you can find it at other sites until that bug is removed.

The deep one are "real" and the "shallow" ones are (IMHO) man made.

"The need for enemies seems to be a common historical factor… Bring the divided nation together to face an outside enemy, either a real one or else one invented for the purpose… In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill… The real enemy, then, is humanity itself."

"Others are engaging even in an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves. So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon other nations. It's real, and that's the reason why we have to intensify our efforts."

                They have a plan. . . .

"… [T]his is not the first time in American history that such a hoax has been perpetuated on the public. The FDA-approved use of fluoride in our drinking water and the use of radioactive cobalt-60 culled from nuclear reactors for the IRRADIATION OF conventional food illustrates how industrial waste products with known toxicity are eventually converted into commodities or technologies 'beneficial to health.' Whereas initially these substances have very high disposal costs for the industries that excrete them into our environment, the liability is converted — through the right combination of lobbying, miseducation and 'checkbook science' — back into a commodity."

A land of earthquakes, huge tsunamis and volcanos..

Mix that with fifty plus nuclear reactors and enough radiation to kill everyone on Earth 100 times over.

    What could go wrong?

    Hmmmmmm?

Dr. Good…and those 19000+ quakes were only the 3.0 and up….wow, a very good education, and why having Nuclear Power in Japan is suicidal and homicidal.

The video made me think of 40 years of spent fuel sitting on the coast in San Onofre…just waiting for a big quake. :-)

The nuclear cabal is an insane death cult, and all nuclear creation must end and clean-up must be the top priority if there is any chance at all to save the remaining gene pool of all earth lifeforms.

Thank you for initial comments re 'Powers that Be' knowing full well exactly what's going on. Can anyone truly believe govt's are not following this or is this our own sort of second tier level of denial? I think the lack of sanctioned info scares me more than anything because it proves the situation is every bit as bad (likely much worse) than even those of us following ene can figure out. By this time they've dug themselves a hole plenty deep enough to go under the corium and each day of further 'radio silence' makes it worse.
Also thanks for posts about the frightening denial we are all finding in our personal spheres of influence. Feels like an episode of Twilight Zone.

grandma nell, the extent of the general silence points out to me (at least in this instance, not as a rule!) how deep this hiding effort is. How deep the collusion is to discredit any source of reliable information about radiation levels, ecologial damage long term, human and ecosystem health effects.

that is why our friends won't talk about it. so much of the accepted medical and scientific world – even the more alternative sources- are silent about this. the only way it makes sense to me is because of the ties to military weaponry…and to dreams of energy 'independance' for this country and others, allied with us…. I cannot understand the silence and blankness and denial aside from that. Friends who think themselves moderates, well educated- there is nothing in the mainstream of academia or media, that mirrors our concerns. ANd so the messengers – us- are seen as throughly crazy. And shills and trolls at different times do us much disservice and support ignorance by extreme distractions and disinformation.

Twilight Zone is exactly what I have been experiencing. People all around me are in denial that there could possibly be danger if authorities are saying there is nothing to worry about. However, they sense there is danger but are afraid to acknowledge their own fear for appearing an irrational "tin foil hat". Further, they refuse to get informed because it would mean checking out putative "conspiracy theory" sites. These phobias are reinforced by the range of government, institutional, and media cover-ups, denials and downplays going on. This unfolding tragedy would make a terrific psycho-drama; unfortunately it is only too real, teetering on a precipice of the abyss.

It's just crazy…. Look up in the sky and it looks like a checkerboard… Radiation readings are in the hundreds… You can pop popcorn with a cell phone… Skin feels like it's crawling from the microwave towers… If you say anything people act like I crazy…. Of fear mongering… Just don't get it…

We should be thinking of ways to grow foods in as clean a way as possible. Green houses, soil from caves, other protected places, making soil from clean crushed rocks, water from deep under ground wells. Will caves be good places of last resort should all hell break out? Or should we, I know it may sound strange, be building self contained "space ships" of sorts on planet. KOYAAISQATSI Hopi word meaning life out of balance, also a very pertinent movie reflecting the times we live in.

What isotopes are in the storage tank water? A Scientific American article states that they've removed everything but tritium. I find that hard to believe.

That's nonsense. If they had "removed everything" (which is impossible) there wouldn't be extremely high radiation readings where leaks have occurred. We don't know everything that is in that stored water because they aren't measuring for everything, and their measurements are not very reliable anyway. The very limited "decontamination" equipment they have installed is woefully inadequate to the task. Since more highly contaminated water is being pumped into tanks every day (as well as seeping/flowing into the ocean), this partial "decontamination" can't possibly be a viable solution. They are running out of space, many of the tanks are deteriorating, and some are leaking. It looks like they will end up gradually dumping a huge amount of partially decontaminated tritiated water into the ocean — more deadly pollution adding to the continuing releases.
