UPDATE: Fukushima Diary has the details
- 120,000 Bq/kg of Cesium in the soil near the entrance to Ryugasaki Kubodai elementary school
- At 4 locations beside the pool, they measured 11,720~19,050 Bq/kg
- At the school 1 meter above the ground there were 2 locations with over 2 µSv/h
- And 14 locations with over 1 µSv/h
- After ‘decontamination’ in mid-October they still measure over 1 µSv/h at 6 locations

can we say ” I told you so” yet?

I am very afraid that we won’t be listened to until something really, truly horrific happens.
Report Comment
You mean what has already happened isn’t ‘truly horrific’? The current situation exceeds that standard already as far as I’m concerned…..

Human0815,
The translation is quite clear:
There’s more radioactivity.
Is there more you need to know?

OT sorta… has anybody heard whats happening at unit 5 and 6? I heard they were “possibly” in meltdown. I saw the pic of the underwater pipes that were radiating heat and were glowing red… any idea whats going on there?
3 meltdowns is horrible enough, 5 is… I have no words for 5 meltdowns. It is too sad to cry and getting mad only serves to make a bad situation worse so I sit here in a state of UTTER DISBELIEF.
Popsicle anybody?

My latest conclusion is that undeground water breaking inside reactor buildings 1 -4 (500 tons daily) is spreading melted nuclear fuel all around the place.

A part of my life has been spent looking at the suction end of pumps. WHat you see at 3 mins in the video is a short piece of probably ceramic pipe lying on the floor of the sump.
Its not corium or glowing orange-hot, as if it was it would be surrounded by a mash of bubbles and boiling steam, not just quietly sitting there.
The rest of the floor of the sump looks pretty standard too, although its a bit untidy, with old cans and things lying around the bottom.
The pump is a big multi-stage unit which is obviously not running at the time of the video. The ‘can’ on the bottom of the pump is a screen that filters out the big bits.
All pretty normal. To me it looks like a sea water intake rather than a recirculation pump sump which would be less likely to have rubbish in it, or fish swimming by. I doubt that water from this pump goes directly into any sensitive area like a spent fuel pool or reactor primary or secondary cooling circuit, but it could be to a tertiary circuit cooling a main circuit via a heat exchanger.

Mmm.. revise that slightly – at 3:19 in the video the thing sticking out of the bottom of the pump looks like a plank of wood, not a screen.
That’s probably why they are looking – its jammed the first stage impellor and tripped the pump overloads, or at least reduced the flow/lowered the working amps. Hence the inspection.
At 5:00 video says Auxiliary Sea Water Pump REactor 5, which looks clear.
Residual heat removal pumps for reactor 6 are imaged at 9:06+. Aux sea water pump reactor 6 at 13:10+.
The temperature charts show they cool the reactors and spent fuel pools in cycles, and obviously this inspection was done when the pumps weren’t running.
No corium in sight.

@Sworldpeas, I am no longer in disbelief. It is tragic.
Yeah a popsicle would rule right now. Thanks

TEPCO won’t tell us what is going on in reactors 5 & 6 because it is part of their information suppression campaign. If these reactors are in meltdown and releasing fission products that means that reactors 2 5 and 6 are now in critical states. They won’t tell us anything until it is too late. If reactors 5 & 6 are in critical meltdown it could easily explain the recent spikes in Iodine and Xenon gas. I hope the workers at the plant continue to release information because the public needs to know if there will be another dangerous explosion or slow release of fission products.

Follow latest updates at http://twitter.com/rt_com and http://www.facebook.com/RTnews Japan may be losing control at the Fukushima nuclear power plant after a rise in radiation levels meant attempts to stabilise the situation had to be halted. The government’s top spokesman said one of the reactor’s key containment vessels is feared to have broken and radioactive material leaked out. The authorities had earlier been using military helicopters to drop water onto the troubled reactor but later aborted the mission. RT’s Ivor Bennet who’s in the region, says many people are trying to flee from areas facing immediate danger…”
