The Advocate, March 19, 2013: Gov. Bobby Jindal will visit with Assumption Parish leaders and residents in the Bayou Corne area at 2 p.m. Tuesday about the 10-acre sinkhole there, his office said. Jindal will also fly-over the sinkhole in the swamps [...]

The slough-in, or edge collapse, is shown in this image marked in red

The Advocate, March 18, 2013 at 10:00p ET: [...] The collapse of earth, which parish officials estimated as 0.95 acres, brings the sinkhole’s lake-like surface to nearly 10 acres. The burp and slough-in followed a period of increased seismic activity last week deep under the sinkhole and near the failed cavern that has since subsided, parish officials said. The burp was recorded shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, surfacing oily hydrocarbons and debris from the 140-foot-deep sinkhole, parish officials said. Shallow tremors continue currently, state Office of Conservation experts said, probably from the sinkhole’s sides falling in and water moving in the sinkhole and below it, parish officials reported. Some of you may have missed the latest on the stinkhole radiation situation. Remember right after this began and the question about radioactive NORM bieng one of the hidden treasures in the failed texas brine storage cavern? And there was all the back and forth about mabey a little was authorized and Texas Brine later denied that it was ever injected, but was stored onsite instead? Turns out not only is there NORM in there but there are 6, thats right 6 salt caverns there that have radioactive NORM and TENORM in them as these latest unvailed documents prove. Shame ,shame on them for lying like that. This contradicts everything the residents of Bayou Corne have been told by the site operators and the officials. Now what? The courts are going to have a field day with this new evidence. This should weigh in greatly for the residents.

The Governor will be there at 2 oclock today speaking with town leaders and the residents. Someone needs to ask him about this for the record. Hope an attending resident gets this latest information to the Governors attention. Good luck Bayou COrne.

I agree that the question needs asked, but not just someone, everyone until it is answered. He may try the ole brush off the question trick. I would be prepared by having many of the residents aware of the findings and ready to keep asking until it is answered to the satisfaction of the residents. Also I would follow the link above to Freedomrox's site and Print off the documentation to take with you.

Bayou Corne Residents. Realize that all of these engineers, scientists, companies and officials come to these meetings with an agenda. I am not saying that you all need to form a consensus, I am saying you need to support each other, respect each other's individual needs and start going to these meeting prepared with your own agenda. Take your own facts, power point presentations, handouts, forms for the companies to fill out, refer then to your legal team.

An example: "I am addressing our families immediate needs related to the evacuation Mr. Cranch. If your company wants to further destroy our dreams you will have to contact my lawyer for permission."

"Conservation officials, Texas Brine officials and experts have said the sinkhole is gradually finding a stable size and shape as the damaged salt dome cavern fills with rock flowing in from outside the cavern."

What impetus would the sinkhole have to stabilize?
What is the impetus to keep the oil/methane from continuing to come up?
This is way more complex than..filling in a cavern.

      Hotr
A method to stabilize and to stop the oil and gas flow from the broken formations was suggest to the DNR and work group two months ago. Actually simple, using existing drlg technology.
The breach location is known within a certain area. On the outward side of the cavern between the top and bottom of the cavern.
Set up rig NW of sinkhole drl down +/-3500ft turn horizontal drl to salt dome passing well under sinkhole and damaged area intercepting the saltdome at +/- 4,000ft. Because the leaking formation(s) end against the salt dome they would be drld by this approach. Two lateral sidetrack, one each side could be drld off the main well bore–These three well then would be produced-"open"choke- no restriction this would bled off- relieve all pressure forcing the oil and gas upward.
Move rig 50 ft NE drl second well directional track 500' ft above pressure relier well intercepting the saltdome 100ft below the cavern bottom- again with lateral sidetracks each side.. In these three pump and squeeze cement into the base of the damaged area -sealing.
Last word is they are considering it waiting on the 3D seismic
