NHK Narrator: This company that manages and maintains nuclear plant instruments hasn’t been able to recruit a single worker for the plant since the accident.
Yukiteru Naka, Chairman: If nothing changes there will be no young workers at the plant in future. I think that’s very clear.

NHK Reporter: Many workers in areas with high radiation levels are quitting. They have to leave in around 3 months when their level of exposure is at the safety limit.
Recently deteriorating working conditions are also making others leave.

What's very clear, Yukiteru-san, is that the criminals who profited for years from this suicidal enterprise and their government crony enablers should get their bloated asses to Fukushima to personally work on cleaning up the mess instead of throwing more innocent young workers onto the funeral pyre!

The reduction of the labor pool (actually a disappearance) is a cultural and intellectual trend that doesn't promise to get any better for nucleocrats and eventually in America will encompass also the fracking labor pool. News of dangers from toxins travels fast in higher developed nations.
The iPad generation is more radiation-savvy than the ill-informed conscript workers of 1986 Ukraine. The wages at Daiichi are nowhere near any level that attracts suicide workers, especially younger workers. Wages will have to triple before they can get any interest. I suspect there may be enormous interest in soliciting foreign Indochina workers to come into Japan. Watch for a huge expansion in that area.

No wonder you can not get workers, no one is going to apply unless you rotate the staff, you can not expect a worker to stay at the plant untill rad levels exceed standard that have already been elevated.
You are going to have to expose thousands of people to high levels of radiation just to clean the site, never mind the amount of people to build coffer dam and entombment etc.
30 minutes of work reduces your life by 30 days?, what price do you put on 30 days of your life, it will be required and never will so many owe the gratitude of so few, worldwide.
Get crackin the egg is dying.

The powers to be know that the highly trained nuclear engineers etc at the plant will soon if not already exceeded their dose of radiation, you would have thought that the universities etc would be training new ones but they are not, we need these specialized workers and they need replacement now, you have to be pro active

The Russians sent in 50,000 workers and got chernobyl shut in.
3,000 workers is far too few.
if the Japanese government tosses in, it will be closer to a trillion then a few billion.

Do you think TEPCO "gets it" about post work health? When they refuse any medical care for those such as the head of Fukushima plants who comes down with Cancer? when Japans government denies workmans compensation for cancer in nuclear plant workers..due to the manipulation of dosimeter badges to hide radiation exposure. Gee..why would a person want to work for TEPCO for all of a few weeks..get radiated to a level that insures cancer. A cancer none will provide medical care or disablity for????? Just saying…smart people will not..
The lied to, uninformed, or forced labor employees will be all that can be used..

I don't think TEPCO "get's it" at all. One of those folks interviewed was the same guy who said they never thought about weeds blocking the pipes! They all have their heads in the sand. They don't want to face the horror of it…I'm sure it must seem so very overwhelming to most of them — if you can get any of them to face it privately even. Seems like they are all doing the yes-sir-yes-sir, three bags full dance. And I can't believe they are not even willing to do the decent thing of paying for the medical bills. Word is going to start getting out (if it hasn't already) when former employees die off — and no one will agree to work there at all. They will be looking for those very poor foreign workers, but I donno. People will be learning more and more..it's going to be a very difficult battle. I think they will be pressured in time to at least cover the medical expenses. All of Japan is doomed!

Hi folks
You’d think people would be saying ‘about a year and a half ago’ but, no, the date, the 11th of every month is marked solemnly and everyone knows that it is one year and precisely eight months since the disaster. People mark the day with prayers and we’re told on the news that the search parties have been out again. There are still 2,700 people missing in Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima. Again, nothing found and a bit pointless after all this time but it’s important to be seen not to give up looking.
