Last December, the government said the accident at Fukushima nuclear plant had been contained, but the local residents still face a long road to rebuild their lives. The government also said the work to remove radioactive substances from areas with relatively low contamination would end by March 2014. But Iitate village Mayor Norio Kanno told reporters yesterday the work was making no progress.

That's because decontamination is a pipe dream fed to the public to give hope and keep the people quiet. The problem, the people figured out it's a pipe dream, a very expensive one.

… unfortunately still not very many figured that out. It's a very strong dream… and it's too attractive NOT to cling to it, even for those, who begin to suspect, that it will stay only a dream, if nothing fundamental in the ethical priority settings of our global society changes pretty soon…

One of the first principals of decontamination is not to even attempt any cleaning until the source of the contamination has been stopped. Since there are still releases from the plant every day there is never going to be great progress with decontamination, until those releases are stopped.

And, solar can't be considered because it is cheap and safe? Can't
