- Reactors 1 and 2 have gas detectors installed
- But At reactor 3 the radiation level is too high and no detector has been added
- Building must be decontaminated so gas detector can be installed as soon as possible

Hey where’s that Japanese guy who makes completely mechanical, non-electrical, non-electronic robots?
And can’t someone at least make a remote control robot with a powerful motor, encased in 3″ of lead, for getting close with the mechanical robot?
Can’t one be lowered in by crane?
If I guess, a gas detector can survive the radiation?

americancommuter – It isn’t only high levels of radioactivity in the reactor buildings, it is also very hot in there. The closer you get to the cores, the hotter it gets. Lead melts at 621.43F. The cores are thousands of degrees hot. Just the floors in the reactor building were hot enough to melt the soles of shoes when walked upon at one point. I doubt things have cooled off much either.

with reactor #3 ‘missing’, i.e. it is not visually locatable, how does one decontaminate something that has been blown to smithereens onto everything and/or cannot be reached?

by the looks of the web cams (also available at http://realitycheck.no-ip.info/forum/index.php/topic,40.0.html with jet stream links), they are probably attempting to dismantle the building first.
BTW, how come we NEVER see reactors 5 and 6? Tepco guy in NHK vid does not look happy one bit about any of this

They never show 5 and 6, because they did not suffer a catastrophic meltdown as far as I can tell, and I believe their intent all along has been to save them and reopen them.
Perhaps they’ve abandoned that thought over time, but they certainly wanted to do that in the beginning.

They know exactly where reactor 3 ended up. They just don’t want the public to know where reactor 3 ended up, but it sounds like you do know Chemfood, so you are the enemy of the PR spin machine.

Watch the video of three exploding. Reactor three is lying in the botton of the RCV and points below, and on the ground outside of the reactor building. TEPCO admitted back in May (???) that they had to bull-doze the ground around parts of the site so they could get close enough to some of the building to enter them.

The NRC has also stated they have found reactor core fragments as far as 3 miles from the site. Lovely isn’t it.
