Title: Fukushima nuclear power plant of 2,000 millisievert a beta ray was a water leak in the vicinity
Source: Nikkei
Date: Feb 3, 2012 at 11:07p JST
Translation by EX-SKF
TEPCO announced on February 3 that the water leaked from one of the contaminated water storage tanks at Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant. 2,000 millisieverts/hour beta radiation was detected. The amount of the leak was small, and there was no leak into the ocean. The leak stopped when the bolt was further tightened. The radiation was then shielded with acrylic plates, and the beta radiation dropped to 15 millisieverts/hour.
The bolt may have gotten loose at the joint of a storage tank that stores the contaminated water that was condensed by the desalination apparatus (Reverse Osmosis), letting the water leak. TEPCO said a large amount of radioactive strontium might be in the water. On the concrete where the leaked water was, 22 millisieverts/hour gamma ray was also detected [...]

EX-SKF notes that there are 100 or more massive tanks similar to the one that leaked (see photo below). Do they all contain water emitting multiple sieverts per liter?

Please please everybody understand all of these water stories are bogus. It’s called FUD
They are 100% designed to keep you off the trail of what’s really happening.
They dump radioactive water into the sea with reckless abandon. They don’t care a thing about radioactive water.
what all these water stories mean to me is there is something very important going on that they do not want su to know about.

I agree, but “2 sieverts” caught my eye. That’s a lot from a small leak.
I think the leaks are a convenient way to keep us from focusing on Building #4.

Its still think its definately note worthy 2 seiverts isn’t a lot but its gama rays and they can basically penatrate anything that’s not made of lead or about 4 feet wide of solid concrete or something. It is definately dangerous, if you breathed in some gama rays your gonna get sick within a year or so. We definately need to watch all the reactors cause none of these people can be trusted!
Report Comment
Uh, please explain how excatly do you “breathe in” gamma RAYS?!
Report Comment
you dont have to breathe them in they can go right through the skin genious. your loving government and media has lied to you. Newsflash!! Radiation is not good for you.
Report Comment
im sure if there were gamma ray particvles someone could breathe them in

2 sieverts is A LOT! A LOT!
2 MICRO sieverts is not a lot.

Yes, 2 Sieverts is indeed A LOT!

Isn’t a lot? One Sievert per hour radiation kills a man….

TOTAL Radiation In Water Stored On Site
After the tsunami and reactor meltdowns, they ran out of fresh cooling water, so they brought in a huge amount of water via a barge, that was then used up, and filled with radioactive waste water coming out of the reactors. They injected 10-15m³ per hour of fresh or sea water at 8 points in 4 reactors plus 4 spent fuel pools. It is now down the road about 10 months. This calculates out roughly to 300 day`s x 24 hours x 30000- 50000 liters per day.
By these calculations, what is the total amount of water used? Shouldn’t there be at least 1,500 watertanks with 100 m³ each, of highly radioactive water? Instead, I have seen only one report that there are about 400 water tanks at Fukushima.
“Two of the 370 tanks were due to arrive Saturday from a manufacturer in nearby Tochigi prefecture (state), TEPCO said. Two hundred of them can store 100 tons, and 170 can store 120 tons. The tanks will continue arriving through August, and will store a total of 40,000 tons of radioactive water.”

What is their volume, and what kind of radiation does this water contain? There is one estimate of beta radiation in at least one tank… Jiji: 5 billion becquerels of beta radiation in 10 liters of decontaminated water — Includes strontium and cesium January 10, 2012 http://enenews.com/5-billion-becquerels-of-beta-radiation-in-just-10-liters-of-decontaminated-water-includes-strontium-and-cesium
Nikkei: Two sieverts/hr of beta radiation emitted from a single liter of leaked water

So how much radiation does that calculate out to onsite in these storage tanks, given the above facts?

Is anyone good with math?
Total water storage on site; 100,000 tons in basements
Tanks: 200 X 100 = 20,000 plus 170 X 120 = 20,400 tons storage
20,000 plus 20,400 = 40,400 plus barge, 10,000 tons? plus temporary storage used initally, maybe another 40,000 tons?
Total estimated water storage
20,000
20,400
10,000
40,000
100,000
________
1,000,000 tons of water on site. Are tanks earthquake proof?
Plus, high radiation containing small square things
How many liters in a ton of water?
How many cubic meters in a ton of water?
How many sieverts are there in 1 million tons of water?
How many sieverts in a liter of the high radiation small square tanks?

ever heard of welding? gonna use them elsewhere? no vehicle and equipment graveyards like after chernobyl? sold for scrap? into cars? ugh!! hows the gasket doing? how many of this designed tank is on site??

Radiation isn’t dangerous until the water in your hands boils by itself……new Tokyo Limit.

ACTA – a global treaty – could allow corporations to censor the Internet.
~Imagine being charged because you shared a link today
Will they cuff you & then drag you away?
Knowledge is Power and they know it too
And so they must be in control of you
The internet exists because of you & I
A proven fact they cannot deny
So travel the World Wide Web today
And make this ACTA Bill go away
We are learning too much, sharing knowledge at an incredible speed & peeking behind the curtain & learning that it is not a wizard controlling the strings but men whose only goal is greed & control.
“The oppressively strict regulations could mean people everywhere are punished for simple acts such as sharing a newspaper article or uploading a video of a party where copyrighted music is played. Sold as a trade agreement to protect copyrights, ACTA could also ban lifesaving generic drugs and threaten local farmers’ access to the seeds they need. And, amazingly, the ACTA committee will have carte blanche to change its own rules and sanctions with no democratic scrutiny.”

much too easy. I never buy any of that useless worthless shite anyway. Don’t understand why anybody would, really. The music is crap, the movies are crap, we just got brainwashed into thinking this trash is ‘entertainment.’ Hollywood would starve to death if they depended on lil ole me.

Two sieverts/hr????
Umm.. Who tightened the bolt??
For water to be emitting two sieverts/hr..
Two Joules plus toxicity..
Halfway to immediately lethal, by exposure alone..
What is suspended in that water???
Geez, REALLY????

Ken31ONCA: was going to comment on your post, but W8R beat me to it; please read his post above.
W8R: I sure as heck wouldn’t have tightened that bolt. I’m as blown away as you are.
Why isn’t anyone in the field making anything of this? Isn’t anyone in a position of responsible authority monitoring any of this? Are they all so absolutely corrupt that they can maintain their silence?
