I hope the other Nuke plants in Japan are being shut down as we speak – or we all could be in for a whole heap of hurt 🙁

Giant Shark – Son of Megladon video on youtube just posted caught off the coast of fukushima. I hope they choke on it and ***** from eating radioactive shark meat. I totally feel and pray for the reactor meltdown victims but the senseless killing of this beautiful creature and the whales they keep insisting on murdering is a horrific crime. They have as much right to live as we do. More so for because of the very few left. Only time one of these has ever been seen and what do they do. ******holes.

Hope i have not offended anyone with my harsh language about the giant shark murderers in fukushima but I meant every word.

Have there been any new reports of unit 4 sinking any further with all the quakes happening there?

  • PhilipUpNorth PhilipUpNorth

Unit 4 is sinking as coriums from Units1,2,&3 have eaten through the mudrock under the plants, destroying the integrity of the buildings' foundations. Then the earthquakes come along, and cause the buildings to settle into the rock voids underneath. If Building4 is sinking, you can bet that Buildings1,2,&3 are sinking as well.

Timemachine2020, a little restraint on the language would be appreciated. Many thousands of people browse ENEnews every day to keep up on the crisis, including many children and students. But I understand your anger.

Ground shaking is 'normal', as is lots of radiation.

    Humans will adapt genetically.

    That is the propoganda…

I was not wanting to go to AU & NZ till next summer, but as a Geologist/Radiation Health Technologist/Master Inspector of Structures for Nevada Power, the Shouwa-Sanriku Earthquake fault zone is building to snap.

If I was one of my students, when I taught Earth Science & Physics, and I gave them these Earthquake reports, quite a few would say a volcano was ready to erupt.

You just can't expect 40-yr. old buildings that have had explosive stress to their poured steel beams, to continue to support over "3" million pounds of water, steel & fuel rods, bearing down on the 6th floor of a 10-story building. The stress loads alone are some crazy numbers. The guy who designed these 10-story buildings must have been doing some wild hippy drugs at night to come up with the fuel pool placement.

Ck out some great before shots/schematics/teaching videos, & lots of data on these at:

I wonder if the fuel rods in SFP4 could be cut into pieces while underwater, then sucked out into containers of water? That way, there is no need to build an elaborate structure with a new crane over reactor 4. Time is running out. I wish TEPCO would think outside of the box.

The intersection of technology failure and the wrath of nature has put us in a very difficult place where we never have been before. The pathos runs deep when the wrong things are venerated. The world's great teachers have been saying this forever.

It's that time of the month for quakes: new moon 11/13, lunar perigee 11/14, and the highest west coast tides of 2012 at 7'5" on the 13th and 7'6" on the 14th. A generic EQ 'window' would be 3-4 days before and after perigee, i.e., today through 11/18.

We have a new battery in the wall-mounted, inverted pendulum, P-wave detector, and the van will be parked outside for the duration: local desert cities CA fire departments subscribe to a web-based P-wave alert service that allows them to keep trucks inside and still have time to get them out before the following S-wave could damage and prevent the firehouse doors from being opened.

I wonder what waves in fuel cooling pools look like. not to mention what will happen when the inevitable higher than 6 mag is gonna hit fuku-daiichi..
