Flaws in US General Electric Reactors: Japan starts up after Fukushima

The particular model used at Fukushima had inherent design flaws in the containment structure from the outset and engineers predicted the exact scenario that happened at Fukushima.
The General Electric Corporation began constructing the Mark-1 BWR reactors in the 1960s, claiming that they were cheaper and easier to build in part because they used a smaller and less expensive containment structure, and this is where the main problems lie.

More questions arose about the design in the mid-1980s, after Nuclear Regulatory Commission official Harold Denton stated that the Mark-1 reactors had; “…a 90 percent probability of bursting should the fuel rods overheat and melt in an accident.”
Thirty-five years ago, while reviewing the design for the Mark-1, Nuclear Engineers Dale G. Bridenbaugh and two of his colleagues at General Electric were pressured into okaying the designs for the Mark-1 and were forced to resign after becoming convinced that the Mark 1 was so flawed it could lead to a catastrophe.

Regulations are the toothless tiger and the 'stall, let's pretend' bluff to appease the public. And as geoharvey was just pointing out in another thread, the laws (regulations) just get ignored.
We need to nuclear reactors shutdown. We also need to get uranium mining stopped. And we need to get Fukushima stopped. That's the three rules I'm seeing.

If you follow a path of any deregulation it will lead you directly to lots of money entering the pockets of those infavor of The deregulation. eg Regan /Bush deregulation of savings and loan. Siverado SL -Neil and his involvement with the Fed. Savings and load scandal (not really a scandal more like grabbing funds and putting them in your pocket).

I would say that ALL of these Death Machines have inherent problems and I would recommend they ALL be discontinued as quickly as possible.
Simply put, it's not worth the long term risks to all life.
50 years of boiling water and we produce thousands upon thousands of years of waste and no where to store it safely or sanely.
Controlled by a bunch of clowns who claim to have your safety in mind, while at the same time they cover-up their mistakes and continue with BUSINESS as usual regardless of the insidious suffering they have spread.
Except now, we've all become collateral damage.
How many more Fukushimas will it take before this lunacy is stopped for good?

Flawed design who puts a nuclear reactor next to spent fuel, that is insane you do not make high explosives and store the finished product next to production, you loose one you loose the other and makes thing worse.
All in the name of saving money after you spent billions building, nuts nuts nuts.

What I have found to be even more disheartening is that when I have read about how much a bribe someone is taking for anything it is usually much smaller than I would expect it to be. Often when I have expected that bribery was involved often I have found that people aren’t being bribed its worse than that. They actually believe what they are saying because they deny their own ability to use common sense or think critically in an effort to conform to some group they want to be a part of for a variety of reasons. Many pro-nuke politicians and journalists believe scientists and the nuke industry that baffle them with studies, statistics, odds and arrogance. The more you learn about the nuke industrial complex the harder it is to believe anyone is for it.

I do have to say this…after being poisond by chemical solvents, I have developed many tumors, as you may know. I filed a law suit with the company responsible. Did you know there is a two (2) year statute of limitation. It may take 30 years or more to develope a problem from this type of exposure. Check your laws, this applies to the continental US, not sure about other nations laws. Law suits for GE, I don't think so. Wish I were wrong but these big giant companies have covered their asses and their assets.

The People have been far too quiet. The people need representation and an independent firm contracted to investigate what really happened? This is an exact replica of the BP disaster, where the "government covers" corporations and receives their thirty pieces of silver. The US government Rules the Japanese Government, there is no sovereignty, that’s all an illusion. The Global Bankers Run the Governments and insure that their corporate and financial interests come first. Lobbyists exist for no other purpose. The people cannot compete with the MEGA-MILLIONS offered to Politicians.
I would speculate that all the reactors are shot, Burned Through, as it is not possible for containment vessels to withstand SUCH HIGH TEMPS (at +2000-degrees, Steel Melts) AND EXPLOSIVE PRESSURE. The Zirconium Cladding Exploded and probably shattered each reactor scattering fuel. I think Mr., Gunderson’s Assessment of #3 pool was correct, it detonated. I posted video of explosions to scale these fuk blasts, the closest match, well, 40,000-lbs of High Explosives … Sorry, comrades, but Hydrogen was a LIE! Perhaps, it acted as a Kicker, but those explosions “all of them,” were small nuclear detonations.
The Japanese ( Tepco) have lied to the Public and Filled leaking reactors with water to fool the camera. There is no way, no way, that if said reactors were even whole that cold shut-down could be reached so fast with such primitive measures for cooling. No doubt, Photoshop has been…

Unit 2 would be in that 10% area. It didn't burst (explode) just self-vented and did a semi-quiet meltdown.

We are all being poisoned. We are all being lied to. There is no way those detonations were due to hydrogen ALONE. The engineering specifications on all containment buildings are built to code to contain such a blast. How much hydrogen can be created from 20-tons of zirconium? I found (online source) around 3,000-lbs? Now, considering, what would 3,000-lbs of hydrogen do to a containment building? Well, just from an observational perspective, I watched ( online) US 2,000-lb bomb detonations, now, that’s way more powerful then 3,000-lbs of Hydrogen, but even with High Grade Explosives, I don’t see thousands of Tons of re-enforced concrete thrown 1,000-feet into the Sky!
