US Gov’t: Plutonium is from Fukushima reactors, not fuel pools — Experts: Plutonium needs to be in U.N. assessment of radioactive releases

Physicians for Social Responsibility, IPPNW, etc., Oct. 18, 2013: [...]  the emission of radioactive particles from Fukushima Dai-ichi continues until today and that the available source term [i.e. total radioactive release] estimates only deal with the emissions during the first weeks of the disaster, it is important to look at which source term estimate to use [...] UNSCEAR [United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation] bases its calculations on the source term estimate of the Japanese Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), an organization that was severely criticized [...] for its collusion with the nuclear industry [...] The renowned Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU) found a release of cesium-137 three times higher than the JAEA estimate. [...] By relying on data from neutral international institutions rather than the Japanese nuclear industry, accusations of selective data sampling could be reduced. Also, it is important to include not only iodine-131 and cesium-137 in atmospheric release assessments, such as JAEA, but also radioisotopes such as iodine-133, strontium-89/90 and plutonium-isotopes, as they were also detected in soil, groundwater and sediment samples in Fukushima Prefecture.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission FOIA ML12128A322, Published May 1, 2013: Page 8 — “Pu contamination in soil thought to be coming from the reactors”

TEPCO, April 10, 2012: Detection of Pu in the soil in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station […] there are possibilities that [the Pu-238, Pu-239, and Pu-240] originate from the accident this time, taking the previous analysis results into consideration. Pu-238, Pu-239, and Pu-240 have been detected in the samples collected after March 21 at some places; however, there have been no major changes in the amounts.

What ever happened to the comments on the Japan's secret weapons grade material stored in Unit 3… Could this be the plutonium they are finding???… It is measurable as to origin… Is anyone doing this???

There were massive amounts of aerosolized fuel particles that were released in the initial events at FDNPP's. Plutonium was detected in North America within weeks of 3/11. The venting corium also has liberated isotopes that get caught in jets of water vapor and gas.

A system will be developed that seeks to confine the fuel particles into a matrix of solid material. Think artificial uranium ore, where the elements can be safely dispersed within a neutron absorbing compound. Like a brick or solid block for instance.

Ideally, all the wreckage should be encased within a waterproof sealed vessel and kept onsite because the land has been rendered unusable for the living. All future radiological waste will be disposed of here.

You had three of the biggest vaporizers in the solar system, spewing unimaginable amounts of radioactive isotopes for weeks directly into our atmosphere, 6000 degrees and uncontained leaks for two and a half years.
This is no surprise, what is a surprise is there response, both health and engineering?
What does a vaporizer do, it concentrates?

I remember all the comments here starting o3 2011 where we mentioned that it will not be done with only counting the radioactive release after the explosions but that this will be an ongoing release for many decades or centuries from now on.

Of course the US government knows where the Pu came from…

We sent our crack Marine Corp Radiation team into Fukushima at the tail end of March 2011…they were there for 19 days and left afterwards without really doing anything…except for maybe scooping the weapons grade Pu off the ground…

Another thing to mention is that right before the Marines were there, the CIA sent an officer over to assist TEPCO in operational management; ie information control…

The news took on a different complexion afterwards of course; downplay, obfuscate, distort…you know the usual crap…and to make this funny, the news control started on…drum roll please…

    April Fools Day!

I actually watched Target map, which had been giving real time radiation numbers, suddenly NOT WORK…no updates…it was weird to say the least…again this fun stuff went down on April 1st…

Currently I've noticed that when you zoom in to Fuku on Netc.com, there is NO DAMAGE to the plant. Everything is just Hunky Dory.

They also have moved the "radiation indicators" into a half circle around the plant, when before they were more on top of the units. The numbers have also been lowered on the radiation readings and seem to be staying just the same…impressive considering the magnitude of this disaster…

FACT: Liars are worthless to humanity…

Thank you everyone for your time.

    Have a great day all!

I hate it when I hear that information vital to making healthy choices in a democracy are controlled by governments to protect industries. The information might "hurt" the economy, etc.

Well, the lack of information will hurt children who were not evacuated. Indeed, dozens of generations will suffer mutations. Cancer rates will climb, heart disease will increase, more cases of mental retardation such as cretinism will manifest.

Who will step up to take responsibility for this genocide and ecocide? There should be post-Fukushima Nuremberg trials to sort this out.

I said this hundreds of times beginning on 3-11. But, the nuclear self-appointed geniuses said that there was no need to evacuate. Now there will be Hell to pay.

Pieces of PU lying all around after a detonation is the logical result. Why didn't they follow the plume, evacuate populations, and decontaminate the affected areas?

It is an example of the moral failure of corporate government by so-called elites.

This set of corporate/defense industry lies has been happening for 70 years and still counting. It's just "not local" any more in any sense of the term.

So we think that once something goes international (and in this case PERMENANTLY) that there may be some protection. Then you find out that that's not the case.

I can't make this look good. No one can. Maybe all we have left now is education, and compassion for the innocent. Would love to have key people just wake up one day and revoke their immense/wrongful power. And I support any whistleblower who might be able to do that. I just can't see that NOW.

Thanks for your insight and compassion.

Globalization is an arbitrage of regulation to an international regulatory agency that collides with the purportedly regulated industry to further weaken regulation. The IAEA and the WHO come to mind…

The new secret "free trade" agreements remove national protection through our court system. State and federal courts will have no power to enforce environmental regulations and laws. You have to arbitrate.

    • Hell for some, huge profits for others…

Cancers will be needed to be taken out and 'treated' with MORE radiation, hence huge profits.

The more radiation, the better for the medical and Big Pharma industries, and the more sick people, the more dough they roll in.

Banks will not be big enough to hold all of the money made off of suffering sick and dying people…

Big Pharma will have to invest in huge blimps to stuff all of the money into.

Medical facilities will have to build whole new floors to store all of the gold bricks they will 'inherit' in their search for the cure for cancer. Nope, no answer yet, but keeping sending the $$$..

I am just guessing. But standard operating procedure is to conceal and mislead when it comes to secret weaponization programs.

I have predicted that Japan will be militarized to contain China on behalf of the "international community." You will not see the IC on a map. That would be part of the Asian Pivot. It is politics….

Also, if the source was SFP material, that means that all SFPs can go dry and blow with loss of coolant events. That would cause many in the US to rethink the risks of NNPs next to major population centers.

I’m glad to see we have those who continue to expand their thinking about the relationship between corporate behavior and destruction.

I believe Chompsky characterizes the relationship correctly and reinforces much of the sentiment above in “Nuclear Power and the Fukishima Disaster.”(2013) Chompsky asks, “why are we [the US] in the lead of making things worse?”

Some like him, so don’t, but I encourage all to see the full length interview. I especially encourage all who think they are part of what the real HP has characterized as “Troll Den Supreme,” (not sure, but this seems to imply he thinks we are all trolls) to take some time to critically reflect on Chomsky’s message and reflect on the implications peaceful citizen engagement in change.
