‘Worst-case scenario: Fukushima fuel pool with plutonium catches fire’, Russia Today, April 13, 2011:

Transcript summary of interview with Arnold Gundersen, nuclear engineer

  • Worst case is unit 4 fuel pool
  • Enormous amount of plutonium and depleted uranium
  • If that catches fire it could devastate a large area
  • Still a danger, they don’t have power to the fuel pool cooling systems
  • Unit 4 is the worst because it has the freshest fuel, the most physically hot
  • In addition unit 4 has a crack in the side, so even if they had water it would run out the crack
  • That is the toughest problem on site right now

I’d recently read that Chernobyl was brought under control quickly not by the band aids of boron of concrete but because they doused the site with liquid nitrogen and co2 extensively which brought the temperature down enough to apply boron and concrete. This crisis is turning international, when does someone else take over the handling of this situation?

When WE regular workers and citizens take out the incompetent profiteering sociopaths that we fete as our “leaderships”. There will be no change from our pathetic end without regular people actually overthrowing, and it will be messy, inconvenient and troubling–the super secretive and super greedy murderous morons (from CEOs, Corporate Boards, to Congressersons, to billionaires, to military, covert leaderships of wealthy nations) running things as they are now.

God has nothing to do with this.
These people need to get out
    of the Japan area completely.
    Or dire consequences are
    imminent. No matter what ppl
do, pray, give their hearts. Or
    think about these folks.
They aren’t safe until the forces
that be in the entire world. Bind together
    and get them to safety.
It seems the powers that be don’t want to bother.
Its people that kill people, and its people that
save and help other people. No god is going
to do anything. Its up to us as an entire human species.
Get our heads out of the clouds already!

Pool is cracked and leaking going down into the underground aquifer and will spread rapidly throughout by underground streams contaminating the whole Island in short order from the bottom up !

A spray like they used at Chernobyl needs to be applied immediately &/or a giant radiation proof material creating a giant stadium type roof over the whole area to prevent it from contaminating the air and water of the planet. They need to build underground tunnels and plant explosives to simultaneously drop the buildings/reactors hundreds of feet down. Then cover the whole area with boron and concrete.

  • Doesn’t it seem like a comedic tragedy, wringing of hands and nobody at TEPCO can figure out how to control this?

There is no moving “away” radioactive particles do no diminish their strength with distance, they only diminish the number of particles.

When you hear the news or some Nuclear or Health Official telling you that “only extremely low levels of radiation have been detected and therefore there is no need to be concerned, there is no health threat to the American public.”

Do not be comforted by this false sense of security. The first part of the statement is true, but the remainder is false.

It’s not the loud noise that break glass molecules, it’s the frequency.
It’s not the strong microwave levels that cause cellular damage, it’s the frequency
It’s not the strong wireless signal that causes cellular damage, it’s the vibrational frequency.
It’s not just high levels of radiation that cause damage, extreme low levels of radiation do too.

These extreme low levels of biologically significant radiation hit North America Mid March 2011

Once you ingest or inhale even very low levels of radioactive particles the Petkau Effect immediately starts potentially lethal tissue ionization.

The phenomenon of the Petkau Effect basically means that you are ionizing or irradiating yourself continuously from the inside out.

This insidious burning at your molecular level will impair your body long before there is a diagnosable disease.

As the jet stream continues around the world some radioactive particles will fall with rain, snow or as dust particles, before it continues it’s deadly circle.

The number of radioactive particles may diminish but the STRENGTH of each particle does not diminish. The media et al is lying by omission.

I was in Germany during Chernobyl.

What I did then, is what I’m doing now.

    * Protect the Thyroid
    * Detox specifically for heavy metals
    * Detox on a regular basis as my body requires
    * Support a robust immune system
    * Eat Super Foods and Antioxidants daily.

There is much that can be done, every day, to detox, protect thyroid & support antioxidant
levels. I know my future health depends on it.

SOY MILK or SOY foods are not healthy alternatives, SOY prevents iodine uptake in the thyroid.

The latest bit of fiction from the Japan and the IECA is that the difference between Chernobyl, and Fukushima is that “the Chernobyl reactor was operating at the time of the accident, and that the Fukushima reactors were not…” They also said; “the radiation is 1/10th of what was released from Chernobyl…”

Japan is now encouraging the people of Japan to consume the fish, meats, and vegetation from the Fukushima area – saying that it is “safe to consume”!

I can’t even begin to type out a response to this bullshit! Someone PLEASE take it from here.

The chief of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said Wednesday that all the water is gone from one of the spent fuel pools at Japan’s most troubled nuclear plant, raising the possibility of widespread nuclear fallout. But Japanese officials denied the pool was dry.

“There is no water in the spent fuel pool and we believe that radiation levels are extremely high, which could possibly impact the ability to take corrective measures,” NRC Chairman Gregory Jaczko said at a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing.

If Jaczko was correct, this would mean there was nothing to stop the fuel rods from heating and ultimately melting down. The outer shell of the rods could also ignite with enough force to propel the radioactive fuel inside over a wide area.

That country’s nuclear safety agency and Tokyo Electric Power Co., which operates the six-unit Fukushima Dai-ichi complex, denied Jaczko’s statements that the water is gone from the pool. …

“My understanding is there is no water in the spent fuel pool,” he said. “I hope my information is wrong. It’s a terrible tragedy for Japan.”

Jaczko said the information came from NRC staff and experts in Tokyo who are working with the utility in Japan. He said NRC staffers continue to believe the spent fuel pool is dry. “They believe the information they have is reliable,” he said.

U.S. Officials Alarmed By Japanese Handling of Nuclear Crisis, ABC News, March 16, 2011:

U.S. officials are alarmed at how the Japanese are handling the escalating nuclear reactor crisis and fear that if they do not get control of the plants within the next 24 to 48 hours they could have a situation that will be “deadly for decades.”

“It would be hard to describe how alarming this is right now,” one U.S. official told ABC News. …

“Urgent efforts are needed on the part of the Japanese to restore emergency operations to cool” down the reactors’ rods before they trigger a meltdown. …

“They need to stop pulling out people—and step up with getting them back in the reactor to cool it. There is a recognition this is a suicide mission,” the official said. …

    Reactor 4
Spent fuel rods in a water pool may have become exposed to air, emitting radioactive gases. An explosion and fire have damaged the building. There are no fuel assemblies in the reactor; 548 were removed for maintenance and are part of 1,331 in spent fuel pools.

I read TEPCO is going to remove the spent fuel rods from reactor 4. Hmmm, my understanding is those fuel rods would just turn to dust and possibly cause more harm. I don’t understand TEPCO’s latest statement concerning removal as my understanding is the pool has a crack and has not been full for some time. Anyone know what is the real deal concerning Reactor 4? I saw the photo and heard Arnie Gundersen state the pool probably had a leak and pointed to the exposed fuel rods. I do hope TEPCO is not going to attempt removal as this sounds insane to me but what do I know.

  • Why aren’t these damned pools made of something besides concrete, which cracks, maybe steel, so that these kinds of meltdowns do not happen.

Same reason they were built in the first place-sheer naked GREED.
I may be wrong but I think they have a stainless steel liner..not that that makes much diff in this case.
