Ketamine is supposed to treat severe depression very quickly. Sounds like it is going to be in short supply even before it is really developed for mass use given the situation the nuclear industry has placed us in. Hats off [sic] to those pro-nuclear "geniuses" for creating such a horrendous problem with no solution. The AEC/NRC told people a cure for cancer would be found so not to worry about the fallout that blanketed the world in the 1950s and 1960s, or other nuclear accidents. Cancer isn't cured.
Don't hold your breath when you hear that there are those working furiously to solve this problem. Ketamine is more likely to give us compassionate repose.

Ketamine — good lord, what a spooky drug that is. I thought it was only Rx for animals. I think the reason all those US gov't agencies are stockpiling billions of rounds of hollow point ammo — including Social Security Dept and NOAA — is to hand them out when FukU blows and the radiation heads east.
Speaking of, if you check out Phil Nicholls' earthquake monitor you'll see it is beginning to light up like a Christmas tree around FukU. 18 EQ over magnitude 4 in 7 days, one at 6.2 and shallow. This is similar to the burst of activity prior to 3/11. Links here: http://www.something-stinks.com/Fukushima%20Resources.htm
And maybe this has already been raised on this blog and I missed it, but is anyone else having trouble getting the TEPCO webcam? I get a msg about buffering and then one about playing reflector and nothing but a blank screen. TBS webcam works OK but it's usually socked in.

This article/blog cited above talks about the development of ketamine analogs that would be useful in treating depression quickly. They describe the effect of ketamine on nerve cells could be likened to bringing spring-like growth to withering nerve cells.
I mentioned this as something that at least sounds promising when other aspects of our modern day culture is so destructive.

Agreed – unless I'm mistaken, be VERY careful using Ketamine!!! Ketamine is a horse tranquilizer on which human users can *K-Hole* which is to become near fatally sedated. It sells on the street as *Special K* and there is nothing *special* about it.

This guy, Chris Harris, has come up with the best description for Fukushima I've heard yet…..no off switch indeed.

Every nuclear fuel cycle is an extinction level event making nuclear wastes of us for as long as life exists, the duration of which depends on the way mother earth reacts to her abuse. Stop all nukes and focus on managing the wastes so they are isolated from the biosphere forever! What a catch 22 situation as far as life goes!

actually, Rama, we could develop programs that would benefit all – both financially and environmental – if others would simply acknowledge the problem. It's a matter of shifting one's perspective from that of an aggressor, towards that a protector. If the proponents of nuclear power continue in their denial, what little opportunity for getting these problems under control will be lost to us for all time. This ongoing problem of nuclear-denial offers unlimited reward to those who begin to move on it first. Every discipline is capable of getting on board and tackling this nightmare. And I don't care who takes the lead as long as they're serious in their objectives. So c'mon guys! There's gold in them-there mounds of waste…

Could you be a bit more specific?

well m a x l i, when-and-if an efforts undertaken to address the waste and resulting contamination that's a result of the nuclear power life-cycle, those who position themselves to undertake such task will be justly rewarded. There will be unlimited economic opportunity, as the world's now waking-up to the scale of this problem and the effort to turn it around will require ingenuity and innovation.
We're now at the point, if we're to continue living on this planet, we'll need to look this demon in the face. In the course of carrying out the long term challenge of cleaning up this waste, many parallel industries and disciplines will be required to make these remediation programs happen. It's simply a matter of deciding what's important: living in a healthy world or continuing on with the living of transient life styles…

well there seems to be another even worse potential "nuclear waste generation facility" being hastily built in Russia … a fast breeder, sodium cooled reactor for plutonium MOX fuel "disposal" … people are insane and being driven to self-destruction all over the world … that is the only conclusion.
