Nuclear Engineer: We’ve already seen genetic defects and radiation-induced illness after Fukushima — Baby of Navy sailor born with multiple genetic mutations, mother pregnant aboard USS Reagan for Japan rescue mission (VIDEO)

Stuart H. Smith, Esq., attorney with decades of experience in radiation cases, Mar. 3, 2014: I noted last week that the news from the site of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan keeps getting worse and worse […] every week brings new reports of leaks or potential meltdowns […] there’s growing evidence a large number of Americans already face serious health threats […] the U.S. Navy crew that was dispatched to Japan for disaster relief […] $1 billion lawsuit [was] filed by the sailors […] Many of the sailors are already suffering devastating health impacts […] Among the 81 plaintiffs in the federal class action are a sailor who was pregnant during the mission, and her “Baby A.G.,” born that October with multiple genetic mutations. [Source] […] This situation is tragic, and it’s stunning that their lawsuits and the related information that has been revealed so far has not received more play in the American media.

Interview with nuclear engineer Dave Lochbaum, Union of Concerned Scientists’ Nuclear Safety Project director, TruNews, Feb. 18, 2014 (39:00 in) Q: When will we start seeing a spike in diseases and death rates attributed to Fukushima? A: Theoretically we’ve seen that already. Some of the consequences of radiation-induced illnesses are low-weight births, genetic defects, things like that — which would have already occurred. Some of the latent cancers, the latency period for cancers takes 5-6 years before you see a statistically discernible increase. But one thing that is known is that it’s going to get worse, nobody is going to get healed by this.

  • Time Is Short Time Is Short

The story about the children with 'polio-like' symptoms in California got shut down pretty quick.

Your government is telling you, "F%&k your kids".

    • SadieDog

100 % ! The government does not care about you or your kids! The government does not care about you or your kids !

    • newsblackoutUSA newsblackoutUSA

The government has never cared about us or our children…that is a fantasy. The time has come for everyone to wake up to the fact we are seen as chattel, and producers. All they want is our tax money.

The nuclear industry is disgusting, and the equivalent of a cult mentality.
Look at the atomic veterans, or the oatmeal experiment with children at MIT for example.

    • The government is only concerned about extending their power and privledge. PERIOD

      • We Not They Finally

People feel really great if they can just go bashing "government." A lot of people feel even better (not necessarily you) if they can be waving around guns at the same time.

There is a government of course. It's just not a PEOPLE'S government — it's been co-opted by huge, powerful, inhuman elements. But if people cannot coherently stand together, organize together, begin to speak in a unified voice, then all the "cowboys" out there will not change this.

David Icke in England (and I know that he's an acquired taste — I'm not pushing anything here about his own views of the world) started his own media called "The People's Voice." It would great if Americans could coordinate with him about how it's done and at least start a pilot project here. You can access "The Peoples Voice" easily on the web and see who is speaking and how they are handling this opportunity.

That might be a CONSTRUCTIVE thing to do. Ranting and raving and waving around guns ("the American way") may not be the most helpful way to go. It may just get us more mindless gun homicides.

        • newsblackoutUSA newsblackoutUSA

WNTF….no one said anything about waving guns around…why would you even suggest the above comments were intimating violence? It is healthy to question government and tptb.

          • We Not They Finally

Point well taken, but NOT. Look at the larger picture. Half of America thinks that "freedom" means having one's own arsenal of guns, not performing public service. Don't even employ people by fixing roads and bridges. It's more important to yell about being "patriots" and wave around guns.

Because if (let's say) five million people HAD marched and demanded badly-needed infrastructure work to support them and their families, then it might have HAPPENED. And so on and so forth. But no one unified, no one marched, and unemployment skyrocketed. Most people are so dumbed-down, that they don't even know that something called "The New Deal" ever even existed.

Not everyone. No, OF COURSE not! And the group at this website is a wonderful, mostly peaceful lot. And I would applaud that — ALWAYS.

We're just not in a vacuum here. We can rant against "government" all we like, but the public climate as a whole is NOT oriented towards fixing our problems, much less creating coalitions that CAN fix our problems.

            • newsblackoutUSA newsblackoutUSA

wntf…but what does that have to do with complaining about the fact the government has lied? They have lied about Nuclear Death… and why aren't you ranting about a child born with birth defects instead of ranting about people complaining about the government?

              • We Not They Finally

I DO rant about children born with birth defects. I've ALWAYS been opposed to nuclear and its human cost.

Now you're just insulting me! This is called "sophistry." Please don't do it. Thank you.

What was weird about that story is that they ruled out polio right away, but the article that was passed around then went into the history of polio. I thought it was an obvious attempt to deflect attention from speculation about other causes by the general public.

      • atomicistheword

THEY KNOW! One of the prime symptoms of acute atomic radiation sickness is polio like symptoms. Seizures and paralysis. Young people are most at risk. Ask them about their dirty secret experimental persecution of the disabled. Oh you can't! because it's locked away from the general public.

I thought that they reported that it was a virus that was somehow related or MUTATED from foot and hoof or hoof and mouth or whatever it's called disease…. so, I thought that it might be more related to that beef recall they just had…something about diseased beef from 2012-2013 being recalled (in Feb 2014)…. and think that it must somehow be related to that. Granted, I'm not a doctor, but that seems to indicate point A to point B in my mind anyway, (And that's why I'm thinking that the food company or slaughter house or someone has probably bought off all those families with some sort of gag-law-type payment/agreement)… just thinking outloud.

ask not what your leaders can do for your, ask what you must do for them

    • Yep, plenty of FREEDOM unless you actually try to use it.

Here is a blast from the past, a listing of the Bill of Rights and how the current regime has circumvented them, eviscerated them.

      • We Not They Finally

Stock, it is hardly just "the current regime" at all. (Some of you guys even forgot the likes of Dick Cheney real quick, didn't you?!) It's been long range and institutional.

Unclear that we even HAVE a "current regime." The country might as well be run by George Bush. And I don't mean W. I mean his father. And that goes WAY back — not just "the current regime" at all. Though Obama seems to love the guy — gave him "The Presidential Medal of Freedom."

We're life-long Dems and have come to hate Obama. But we're not lining up with rants about "the current regime" like life just began yesterday. We're grieved that now there seems to be NOWHERE to go.

America is great at whipping up short-term hate and doing nothing fundamental to solve its own problems. Couldn't even figure out that I you don't periodically fix infrastructure, the country itself will fall apart. Or that it is a GOOD thing that people are laboring for the common good.

Get a longer view! Get a bigger tent! "Cowboys" won't be the ones fixing this.

        • newsblackoutUSA newsblackoutUSA

Wntf, I question anyone who is a "lifelong" anything. Question everything, critical thinking is a must. Also, now you can understand more how/why nuclear engineers believe in the nuclear lie…they are "life-long" thinkers too.

Also, IMO there are no Democrats or Republicans, only warm bodies placed in office by corporations with the most money.

          • We Not They Finally

Well, far as "lifelong" is concerned, if you actually ever talked with me (this is just posts on a website) you might understand. We're older, and in a way, we are still grieving over JFK. He wanted to stand up against institutions, and actually re-claim America for its people. Even LBJ with "The Great Society" did some needed things (like Medicare) for AMERICA, even though he thought it would lose the South (and he was from Texas!) for Democrats. It wasn't always a "me first" world with government.

And the Dems were BETTER that way. Then it all started disintegrating.

So we've never been about mindless party loyalty. We're just at an impasse because now (at least for the Presidency) it seems to just be a choice between Fascist A and Fascist B. We have some good local people — and yeah, they're Dems) — probably just because the core mind-set of Dems against Repubs has been (though YES, Dems have also been highly corrupt!) the PUBLIC good, not greedy-grabby for the individual. Like "liberty" actually meaning LICENSE.

Now lines are way blurred — YES!! We totally relate to what you say. It's a conundrum. A SHARED conundrum. So we shouldn't fight over it, just struggle to get to a better place. Peace.

          • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

Angela, Hope is within us all, but we must go through the realisation of what we were, before what we can be.

From Asia it is said that we are all in GOD, but he is not in all of us.

Pondering on this comment one can find themselves as part of a bigger scheme of things. Altering the scheme is not a good idea & illicits a response. (free will, without rules, sanctioned lawlessness)

Kashiko…of course they aren't liable, because the USA owned those plants indirectly. No one will ever pay for the omnicide caused by the Nuclear cartel.

    • Socrates

The law in Japan grants operators of nuclear power plants immunity from damages but makes the government liable for failure to regulate the operator. That's my recollection, at least. Then the issue become what kind of damages is the government liable for. If pain and suffering is not one of those damages, then full compensation is lacking.

Third-party legal liability of nuclear power plant operators is very complex under international law. It is always difficult to prove causation.

This area of law will become big in the future as many of us will sicken and die. I am preparing for both dying and litigating with sickening in between.

Without making the industry fully liable, they almost always escape paying the real costs.

It may take two to forty years for your cancer. Mutations could take twenty generations, according to Helen Caldicott who treats genetic disease in children.

        • We Not They Finally

Yes. Though it took months even for the news of the baby with "multiple genetic mutations" born to the woman who was on the USS Ronald Reagan, to surface. She was in very early pregnancy at the time. I thought how could she possibly give birth to a normal child? But obviously she didn't.

New Fukushima book includes stark eye witness accounts…

  • GE now make Military ORDNANCE.
The fact they made dams, bridges and nuclear power plants before is coincidental.
The fact the government in the form of the military… in concert with Japan, now tests such ORDINANCE right beside such dams, bridges, nuclear power plants of aged state, and place in jeopardy a nuclear waste site…

They know what force wave-forms will destroy their older work.

They will then call in FEMA, who will then incarcerate anyone who does anything at all positive during the resultant crisis! (See Denver Flood!) As their mandate doesn't include helping YOU !

They now seem to think that means killing-off as many folks during such "EVENTS" as they can manage, while keeping others from saving anyone!
This is a test of your Emergency Generation System.
    This is only a test!

In the event of an actual emergency, you will most-likely DIE as per the orders placed into action by Agenda 21, that were ratified by the United Nations group of criminals.

GE is just another case of a bunch of managers thinking that such management skills operate effectively across disciplines, which in some cases might be correct, for accountants, etc. But when you get these managers running things of which they've but cursory knowledge of the actual product, hire what are essentially contract workers or compartmentalized employees to design specific portions of an apparatus, then try to incorporate these portions into a working mass, it's like trying to put a Ford engine to a GM transmission in a car designed by Toyota. It can be done, sure, but then there must be some with overall knowledge to realize the problems and dedication to overall integrity. Some things are obvious, others not so much. Rube Goldberg made a living, too, designing such things. I've worked with such managers, and while their lack of understanding of the mechanics of physical items can be frustrating (Can't you do it with what you have?), what's worse is when those building such try to satisfy that frustration by 'fixing' that lack with whatever is at hand or, worse yet, 'cost-effective'. One truly scary corporation is doing work at Hanford now. Boeing's battery problems in their last plane is a great example of what I'm speaking.

Patti, GE OWNED Vermont for decades testing their horrible belching Vulcan gun, and a ridiculously noisy jet engine all night long for DECADES! These good things to life bastards excel at owning the military. An interesting note about GE. When they opened the Golden Gate Bridge, GE's Frank P. Doyle who designed it, was supposed to drive across first; loaned his car to a bridge worker and HE drove Franks car across the bridge, they KNEW was screwed up, and STILL is! I think he may have also buried the flaws in the Mark One as Vice President of GE. Researching this guy could illuminate many a GE skeleton in the closet. He lived at the top of the Chrysler building in NYC for a long time before he died.

From the 4 lily plants(bulbs) I had in the spring of 3/11, only one survived. As I was tending the flowers that fall, there was only one living bulb, and this bulb did not split completely, rather it had 5 slightly attached pieces.. I almost pulled it apart, but decided I had better not… only one lily came out, it was mutated. Since then, although it is coming back, this lily has failed to reproduce. Oddly, the initial mutation of the flower is no longer visible, but no babies.

Of course this is not within the "scientific" method, but purely observational.

    • humptydumpty humptydumpty

There's no such thing as DECOMISSIONING AN NPP after it has blown/melted down.

Like the reactors, this article is full of holes. With regard to nuclear waste that will be "cleaned up", it makes repeated use of the terms "disposed of" and "carted away" and "taken away" — but no mention of "TO WHERE?" Decommissioning is total BS. The contamination and destructive effects will go on for centuries.

Some of the proposals are insane, like pouring concrete into the suppression chamber and/or pipes leading to it. Yeah, that may stop the CV "leaks", but it won't do anything about the coriums that already melted through into the ground.

Then there's the "treatment" of tritiated water which supposedly "removes most of the radiation" so it can be dumped into the ocean because "Tritium is less dangerous than other radioactive materials because it passes quickly through the body; after it’s diluted in the Pacific, Barrett says, it would pose a negligible threat." Does anybody actually believe that rubbish?

And what about all the radiation already released into the aquifer and soil and air and the ocean? Oh, well, that's just too bad for us all. TEPCO has a business to run, after all.

An illustrative analogy demonstrating the misuse of DILUTE and LOW LEVEL & DILUTION in the present context:

Imagine that you live near a large park. As a result of an accident, two dozen very poisonous snakes get loose in the park–among them some Russel's vipers, black mambas and puff adders.
The municipal government does issue a warning but perhaps a little weak. One person is bitten and dies. In the meantime animal control manages to round up 20 of them–and since the one who bit was killed that leaves only four. The mayor now announces that the snakes are at a LOW LEVEL as animal control's work has now greatly DILUTED their numbers.

If you put one ounce of whiskey in a very large punch bowl no one is going to get inebriated, because the whiskey has been greatly DILUTED. Or we could say honestly that the alcohol content is very LOW LEVEL.

To deliberately conflate these two areas is what the gov and corporaions are doing to save nuclear power. Just today the fish monger at Whole Foods was attempting to soothe me with talk of the Pacific DILUTING the Fukushima radiation and making it LOW LEVEL!

    Hey Capt. N.

    RE: Diluted?

The Geiger counter was invented in 1928 after it's conception 20 years earlier. After obvious refinements/improvements, it's likely that the basics are still the same today.

Am wondering, (am sure that someone on enewews knows) what is the background rads are today….it would be interesting to see a graphical depiction of that from say circa 1942 to present.

And, to see if it's linear, functional or worse – and where it's heading in the last three years.

Bye the way, agree that: F#$k the term "low level" with this s#$t.

10,000 Drums Across America Say 'NO' to McCain April 5, Everywhere:
Sen. McCain needs some SERIOUS education on the health effects from low-level ionizing radiation released by uranium mining and nuclear power plants! How about all the uranium mines and contaminated aquifers in Arizona/Navajo Nation get cleaned up before he pushes any more nukes on us? How about the fact that there is NO SAFE WAY TO STORE THE WASTE? Nuclear power plants are NOT the answer to climate change! There are serious health problems increasing around every nuclear power plant in the country and abroad. Besides childhood and adult cancer clusters, nuke plants are also associated with higher infant mortality, higher rates of miscarriage, and gastric, immune and respiratory disorders (ECRR, 2010; Mangano, 2014). Women get 50% more cancers than men at the same level of exposure. In other words, the Nukes are killing us, and they want us to pay for them in the hundreds of billions. Say no to McCain April 5.

  • urs,, mentioned somewhere above , the contractor in charge of hanford is also the contractor in charge of sellafield in the uk.
urs is another of the global kingmakers/kingbreakers spread like the plague across this planet. like radiation unless you know about them, is hard to see, feel or taste until it's too late.

off topic for a sec,, sorta,, will the GQ electronics detectors like the 300 series be able to test my rainwater for any fallout?
I shudder when I think of the times after 3-2-2 I used it without concern,, but now I just dont capture it at all.

    From CounterPunch:

<<Our recently released peer-reviewed paper confirms hypothyroidism in newborns in California, whose mothers were pregnant during the early releases from Fukushima. Thyroid abnormalities were detected early in Marshall Islanders and in Belarus residents of Gomel located near Chernobyl. Radioactive iodine, known to interfere with thyroid function entered the U. S. from Fukushima in late March, shortly after the meltdowns, and was carried by dairy products resulting in damage to the unborn.

It takes ten half-lives for an isotope to decay. Sr-90 and Cs-137 have half-lives of approximately 30 years, which means three centuries will occur before the initial releases are gone, and the releases have not stopped.

There are some 26 nuclear reactors in the United States with the same design as those at Fukushima, and they pose a significant risk to people and the environment. The Indian Point Nuclear Power Reactors are located some 35 miles from mid-town Manhattan, with 18 million people living within 50 miles of the site. What would be the environmental, human and economic costs if the Indian Point reactors were to fail?>>

<The current estimated price tag to “clean up” the TEPCO mess at Fukushima is $500 billion (that’s billion, with a “B.” For us who have trouble thinking of such numbers, it will take 96,451 years to spend $10.00 per minute.>

And this one is better: Though on Enenews we already know all this.
Leading the Fukushima cover-up globally is the International Atomic Energy Agency, formed by the United Nations in 1957 with the mission to “seek to accelerate and enlarge the contribution of atomic energy to peace, health and prosperity throughout the world.” …
The IAEA-WHO deal has meant that “WHO cannot undertake any research, cannot disseminate any information, cannot come to the assistance of any population without the prior approval of the IAEA…WHO, in practice, in reality, is subservient to the IAEA within the United Nations family,” explained Alison Katz who for 18 years worked for WHO, on Libbe HaLevy’s “Nuclear Hotseat” podcast last year.

On nuclear issues “there has been a very high level, institutional and international cover-up which includes governments, national authorities, but also, regrettably the World Health Organization,” said Katz on the program titled, “The WHO/IAEA—Unholy Alliance and Its Lies About Int’l Nuclear Health Stats.” Katz is now with an organization called IndependentWHO which works for “the complete independence of the WHO from the nuclear lobby and in particular from its mouthpiece which is the International Atomic Energy Agency. We are demanding that independence,” she said, “so that the WHO may fulfill its constitutional mandate in the area of radiation and health.”

They better lavish themselves in the profits now, because in the end they will have to answer to this evilness, and I would hate to be them.

I read this web site daily. The limited data we receive are specious at best. We have a government that is either not going to test soil, air or water or is testing and won't tell us the results. I tend to think the latter is true. I have to assume the worst at this point and accept that fact. No matter what I do – I am on my own. We can do little except hope that people will finally get our message and start using renewable energy (wood) and learn to do without most of our energy demands as that is the best way to keep us under control. I no longer know how to make information available to others as to how serious this situation is. I look at the news and don't understand why this is not front page headlines with daily updates of data – but nothing. Instead we get info that Woody Allen is a perv – whoddaa thought when he ran off with his daughter. We are nothing but mushrooms – kept in the dark and fed shit.

    Genetic defects.

Folks, when you start to see the molecule of life altered across the biosphere, something extremely vile has been unleashed.

It ain't just people, animals, or plants, but single celled ones as well.

The scale of it all is why NOTHING is being reported of any value.

Expect everything to go haywire in about 3 months.

Just for people keeping stats on the USS Ronald Reagan…the ship stayed only 2-3 days in harm's way as indicated by postings from their sister carrier USS Carl Vinson FB postings:

"Deana, we're the only aircraft carrier with a 70 and we're in the Arabian Sea, so Fox must've used file video. USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) is on their way to provide assistance. The 7th Fleet, US Pacific Fleet, and Naval Forces Japan facebook pages will have updates.

SP: followup up post later in thread:

    "Nancy Harrah
Now that reagan had to leave japan, does that mean that our sailors deployment is going to be even longer?

SP: Certainly interesting that Fukushima Diary posted information about possible plane missions from the Vinson to dump coolant (or maybe neutron bomb the complex?) but instead they fled like the contaminated USS Reagan. Vinson to the Philippines and Reagan wandering infected for months before docking back in USA for decontamination.

"2. In the night of 3/14/2011, Japanese government and US army were planning to drop coolant onto Fukushima plants by airplane and cover the plants with sarcophagus."

Carriers always have escort ships, what about them?

The plume that sickened the sailor has already reached our shores and much of North America, but the cover-up by the government and the media lapdogs just shows how bad it is. The leaks are still in full force with no end in sight and the poisoning of the environment will also continue in full force. The outlook for us is all bad and the northern hemisphere will eventually become completely contaminated. The NWO has now completed their task of population and birth control. Their bunkers in South America are built in the vast areas they have already purchased away from the destruction that they were part of creating.
