My spouse a grown man was in tears thinking about this nightmare of witches brew and what it is doing to our environment. Thus I’m in tears recalling watching him sitting with tears streaming down his face.

I suspect you are grateful your spouse has that depth of compassion.
      I am.
I am grateful for him, you, and all those who are brought to tears by this tragedy and crime.
I wish you all comfort, strength and the knowledge you are not alone.

No one I know even wants to be informed, let alone do anything.

It is difficult feeling alone, as if trapped in a lunatic asylum. So I am grateful to you all.

  • I am curious; how much radiation is still being released at the Fukushima plant, on a daily basis, to the ocean, air and into ‘storage’ containers on site? Who is measuring what is going up the stacks and high up into the air from all of the melted through reactors? How much deadly radiation is being released from the exposed spent fuel pools?

Is ANYONE measuring anything at all anymore? Or did all of the measuring stop when it was determined by officials that all was ‘normal’ and ‘safe’, right after the accident?

The excuse about not measuring before was that the power was out, or that the instruments were ‘defective’ or that readings were ‘innacurate’. What is the excuse now?

I highly doubt that the releases of radiation from this plant have stopped.

Blaming trees and the ground for increasing radiation levels does not work for me, unless it is proven that the plant has stopped releasing radiation. But that is not happening.

The amount of radiation being released is enormous I am sure, because I keep hearing stories about the reactors being ‘vented’ directly to the atmosphere. And the spent fuel pools are exposed directly to the air. Is anyone seriously suggesting that they have stopped emitting all radiation all on their own?

You cannot ‘vent’ THREE or more ongoing out of control nuclear fires directly to the air, and then expect radiation levels in the surrounding country to go DOWN. Quite the opposite happens, I am afraid. Or am I missing something here?

Worldwide, radiation levels are going UP, not down, from the few remaining sources that still bother to measure and report radiation in food and water. The coverup seems to be in full swing, and no one seems to care.

Blaming the birds, the bees and the trees, (plus people not smiling enough) for the increasing radiation levels and problems associated with that, seems to be the latest development in the complete and total coverup of the whole bizarro crisis, where…

According to Arnie in this video he says the radiation releases into the air, coming from the plant has stopped. Personally I think it’s “reduce” but not completely stopped… I just don’t see how it could be completely stopped but then again I’m not an expert…

Arnie didn’t state that they had stopped, he used the phrase “most has passed” and similar in comparison to what was released in the initial March releases, which is correct. Compared to the quintillions and quadrillions of bequerels of the various isotopes released back then, a few million bequerels (while still significant in of itself) is very small change. So as he said, barring new explosion accompanied by major releases, most of the release is in the past sense. But don’t interpret that as “stopped”.

    • Regarding Radiation Releases today

Fukushima Diary posted a tweet from a worker who stated that releases today are 60 million Bq/h

      http://fukushima-diary.com/2011/12/everything-is-out-of-control/

In comparison, in August Busby stated that plant emissions were reported to the Japanese Prime Minister by Tepco to be 10 to the 13 becquerels per hour.

During a Sep. interview with Dr. Helen Caldicott, Arnie Gunderson stated that he had been told that Fukushima was currently emitting a gigabecquerel per day (gigabecquerel or GBq 109 Bq), in radiation, which he described as over 2 billion decays per second a day.

Then Arnie..is incorrect ..the emissions have not stopped..
We watch it day and night..constant emissions plus criticalities.

While Arnie is a ‘whistleblower” I think he still has ties with the NRC and thus is treading a fine line, if you know what I mean. Consider the graphs of hot particles for instance, one would assume at first glance that Calif. had a clean slate but in actuality they are receiving 67% of what Tokyo is experiencing. Don’t get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for Arnie and he was a god send during our TMI fiasco and continues to try to set the record straight but he is walking a tightrope. IMHO

Sorry HotR, I’m going to have to side with Arnie, and not with extrapolations from grainy webcam “analysis”.

Still, it would be nice if TEPCO checked to see what, if anything, was still being released, but then, who among us would believe them?

  • This story should be and should have been the Top Headline of the day for all news media for the last nine months. This should be obvious even to a casual observer.

    Yet, it is not.
…or should I say, it is not, yet?

I believe the releases have accelerated in seemingly random but continuous spurts. (speculation only)

..ummm…i need to say this..that there is really no real need on my part..to see the reactors to understand the situation.
There were at three documented explosions at Fukushima..tons of nuclear material was blown into to HELL in all directions.
Like all explosions..some material is released into the air..at nuclear expulsion rate…the rest tons of it fell back into and surrounding the area.
The material is not controlled or cooled.
Nuclear meltdowns produced corium… as Chernobyl shows by example.
Some about of active fission is going on at Fukushima….IMHO….fact.

When one cannot experience the accident with ones own eyes, one is forced to refer back to the scientific facts concerning radioactive decay. Nothing can speed up or slow down the halflife of a radionuclide or radioactive isotope. They continue to decay towards the zone of stability. If they are not decaying in a controlled environment. i.e fuel rod, then they will spread their emissions to stabil atoms. This will cause cause them to be unstable. We don’t want unstable food, air, or water. Being a little simplistic here, but correct me if I am wrong.

We are all laboring under the fact that the most significant nuclear event in the history of the planet is still being guess at. And, why that is the case ranges from some wanting to hide the facts to the reality that getting the facts can too often risk personal exposure to radiation. I would assume that Japanese authorities and TEPCO are primarily wanting to test for “stable” radiation and ignore the stuff laying around that they can’t deal with. The average person wants assurance, regardless of the testing. And, we here at Enenews want everything tested all the time. We also need to keep in mind that most western nations now have entire medical institutions that make the unfounded claim that high levels of cancer are normal. Doctors believe that because they accept it without question as they do so much else. Whose got time to look it up, right?

Our solace here is that Enenews-type sites and us handful of people are making a difference – we continue to not let our concerns be silenced which forces governments, corporations, and media outlets to eat a little truth along with their rad contaminated steaks.

  • I look at the evidence.. In California, we have INCREASING radiation in milk, cheese, etc, all since the Fukushima crisis hit. It is now Dec. 2011, and the radiation levels should be going DOWN, if the releases are so low as to be almost gone, according to the nuke experts.

Yet, the opposite is happening, both in the US, in Europe, in Japan, and elsewhere. Rivers and streams are showing increasing levels of radiation. Radiation levels in Japan keep seeming to go up, even AFTER a cleanup and decontamination. They are blaming trees and lack of smiling for the increasing radiation levels

When a detective is confronted with facts that do not match the rhetoric from the ‘suspects’, what does he do? Does he believe the ‘story’ told by people who have motives of all kinds, or does he believe the EVIDENCE?

I am going with the evidence here folks.. I do not believe in fairy tales or pixie dust from trees contaminating everything, sorry… Radiation does not just appear like magic. Radiation spreads from a source and can be tracked and measured BACK TO THE SOURCE.

Sadly, it seems the international community of scientists and governments are almost completely either muzzled, completely missing, or hired by the same industry that does not share any information that may hurt the industry.

That leaves only citizen journalists and amateurs with geiger counters to try and figure it out. This is a very sad situation with very severe consequences for many future generations of humanity, I am afraid.

Coverups never go well long term. The lies just have to keep growing. A wooden nose can only grow so long before it gets very noticeable by just about everyone except for the liar.

In this case, those covering up this whole disaster will suffer the same fate as anyone else… so the coverup is actually useless, and completely worthless, all for short term $$$.

Money cannot buy you health I am afraid. Enjoy your daily dose of radiation, compliments of…
