Daniel Hirsch, a nuclear policy lecturer at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Bay Citizen, April 1, 2011:
[Emphasis Added]
“It’s troubling that the EPA has to date not provided any precipitation data of its own, while measurements that have been made by states and others across the country are indicating somewhat surprising elevations of iodine-131.” …
“It is striking that rainwater could be measured in Berkeley with radioiodine that is that far above the level you would generally be permitted to drink.”

Genocidal maniacs in the White House.

President Obama just like the Japanese government is downplaying the Ionizing Radiation. They are protecting the rich and powerful nuclear lobby. This is global genocide.
Nuclear radiation is forever. There is no safe level and no amount of radiation is safe.

President Obama Gets Openness Award in Private
Mar 31, 2011
President Barack Obama has accepted an award for making the government more open and transparent — presented to him behind closed doors. No media coverage or public access was allowed at the ceremony.
The White House didn’t immediately comment Thursday on the
apparent discrepancy between the honor and the circumstances under which it was awarded.
The award was given by open-government advocates including the
Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press to recognize Obama’s
work toward encouraging agencies to release information to the
public — and to encourage him to do more. The group’s executive
director, Lucy Dalglish, says she was flabbergasted that the White
House didn’t allow coverage of the event Monday.

You took the words right out of my mouth. The US government (among others) has totally downplayed the dangers and I agree that NO amount is safe & we have yet to figure out what to do with the waste we have already made. All they really know is how much will kill you quickly. I got in a large amount of iodine 131 over 4 years ago & have had awful health problems that started with my thyroid. They also act like the suits they are wearing and iodine pills will protect you. BULL!! Government & money!!!

This above average contamination of rain water just won’t stop at California. Unless, they have an invisible barrier some where?

Thousands of rural residents in New Mexico gather rainwater for drinking and gardening. The EPA has not issued any advisory for this.
This has been a dry winter and everyone here will be trying to catch rainwater next time it rains, unless they were smart enough to think for themselves first.

Local water distributors Do not and cannot take radioactive material out of lakes used for public drinking water! And it’s hard for them to test for it as it is expensive and are not mandated by EPA unless it was detected prior from an earlier test. How about that?

Cut them some slack. They’ve got bigger fish to fry. That darned CO2 molecule has got to be eliminated altogether, you know.

EPA just posted data on rainwater sampling on its web site: http://www.epa.gov/japan2011/docs/rert/radnet-precipitation-final.pdf.
The hotspots looks like Richmond, CA and Boise, ID with readings as high as 242 piC/L. There are still big gaps in the data, with no data from samples taken after March 23rd and no data from the Oregon, Alaska or Hawaii.

The reality is everyone saw this scenario
unfolding weeks ago.Our government did absolutely nothing to prepare or warn anyone for this potential disaster. As usual it is one cover up after another. It reminds me of the Titanic, the band played on and the privileged danced while the ship went down.
Heaven forbid, we wake the sheep. If this sounds cynical, It is NOT, It is REALITY

I think it would be prudent for people to understand that the US Government’s first priority is to protect the stock market. It’s bad enough that we are facing a public health crisis… We don’t need an economic crisis to go along with it. Understand that you need to protect yourself and your family the best YOU can. Stop looking to the US Government to tell you what you can discover for yourselves.
Purchase a portable G-M meter that senses alpha, beta, and gamma radiation, and learn how to use it. Post your findings on YouTube, and any other such website.
These are great meters, and they are BUILT IN THE USA!: http://www.ludlums.com/index.php?option=com_multisitescontent&view=article&site_id=:master_db:&id=186&Itemid=123
- A portable G-M meter is easy to carry, and can be used anywhere. These are needed to check for particulate radioactive matter that may have come into contact with your food. and surrounding ionizing radiation. Consumption is bad yes, but not nearly as bad as inhalation. Once you inhale it – it’s there forever! Use Zeolite to help absorb these contaminates from your body, and imit your exposure to the outside air. Put a HEPA type filter in your A/C system. Wearing an appropriate filter mask would be wise also, if your in an area with high concentrations of suspended contamination.
- Remember that green leafy vegetables tend to absorb radiation quite quickly. Stay away from bananas also. Banana peels soak them up like a sponge!
Here’s a great link:
http://healthyterrans.blogspot.com/2011/03/natural-remedies-for-radiation-exposure.html
- When you shower (not a bath), use a lot of soap with cool water. Using hot water will open your pours, which you don’t want initially. Don’t scrub right away either. You don’t want to force particulates into your skin. First rinse-off, then lather-up, rinse, lather-up, lightly scrub, rinse. Repeat with warm/hot water, then rinse with cool water to close your pours.
There is no saving these reactors – so I don’t understand why they haven’t been covered in borax, clay, charcoal, resin, and concrete? I can only guess that the problem is it’s proximity to the water table. I believe the plant elevation is roughly 70 feet ASL. If the fuel comes into contact with the water, it could create a steam explosion! I suspect that they’re attempting to cool it down enough to render it incapable of burning through the foundation. Let’s pray that they are successful.

End to Japan nuke crisis is years, a fortune away
“The best solution is to entomb the site for 40, 50, 60 years,” said Arnold Gundersen, who wrote part of the Energy Department manual on decommissioning and runs the U.S.-based environmental consulting company Fairewinds Associates.
