“Two of the three monitoring stations in the United States did show hot particles in the air in April. Since then, there have not been any hot particles. But in April, it is clear that, at the worst of the accident, hot particles were wafted across the Pacific and deposited in Seattle and in Boston at least. There is also data that indicates contamination on the ground in the Cascades, which are a mountain range right up against the Pacific Ocean.
So I think we have two problems here. In Japan, there is a personal health issue and what that means is that individuals have received enough radiation that there is going to be a statistically meaningful increase in cancers in Tokyo and especially in Fukushima Prefecture.
In the United States, it is a different story. It is a public health issue and not a personal health issue. What that means is that we will never know who is the individual who got cancer from Fukushima. But we can be sure that the radiation did reach here and that there will be an increase in cancers, especially on the West Coast where the Rocky Mountains stopped most of the radiation and deposited it on the ground.”

Moms have always been hard pressed not to blame ourselves when something affects our child’s health. Every mom who’s experienced a pregnancy complication has run through that mental checklist, wondering “did I do something that could hurt my baby?”
We wonder and worry about the foods we eat, the water we drink, the drugs we consume, etc. etc. Even though in most cases everything turns out fine, and even if it doesn’t, the mom was usually not to blame, inside we wonder, worry, and we blame ourselves anyway.
What just eats at me about the lack of information coming from our govt., is that there are going to be moms who will needlessly blame themselves for the suffering their children will experience. In these cases, I don’t think ignorance will be bliss. It will be completely unnecessary hell!

This is why parents must be informed about this across the country. If the government had not “turned off the monitors” and withheld this information–if they had given honest information instead of just telling everyone there was nothing to worry about, parents (and schools) would surely have kept children inside during the worst of this last spring. But people in official positions made a decision to downplay this and misinform people, and as a result none of us can be sure that we and our loved ones did not inhale some of the really nasty stuff (alpha emitters especially) last spring.
We have the most advanced technology in the world in this country; the “authorities” surely were aware of what was passing over; the decision not to release that information to the public (and to deliberately downplay the danger in all public pronouncements) was a decision made by individuals in our government.
Every body needs to spread the word about this. It must never happen again.

How about we try a different petition? I know it seems challenging now that we’d need 25,000 signatures instead of 5,000, but isn’t this one thing we can all agree upon?
Off the top of my head, I think I’d start the rough draft by asking simply that the truth, the WHOLE truth, and NOTHING BUT the truth be disclosed to the public about all of the nuclear radiation to which we’ve been exposed, as well as any and all information regarding expected additional fallout from all reactors that are currently leaking radiation. It could also include asking for additional testing and those results be made public.
Could we toss the idea around here and try to come up with the best possible wording? I’m not starting a new petition — just suggesting someone could give it a try, and hoping to find agreeable and compelling wording that could make it difficult for the White House to weasel out of.

How about “reporting” your own comment to Admin and ask whether he / she could create a petition forum?
So anybody interested could join in and share thoughts without searching all the threads. If the 2.355 people who are facebook friends of enenews sign, we can do it!

I agree that I’d like to see a forum for petitions or more broadly – web-based activism opportunities like polls and e-mail campaigns, too. I’m not sure if there are any right now, but as more and more news leaks out, I’m guessing there might be more and more ways to get involved right from our own homes.

Sure. I’m not optimistic that it will get enough signatures, but at least if it is posted there a few more people will see it and become informed about this. Maybe it should ask for 1. all data re: fuku airborne and precipitation fallout to be released; 2. data regarding fallout deposition on land (and perhaps inland waterways)–or testing of these if that hasn’t yet been done, especially where crops are grown); 3. we also must demand that a system be put in place so that we will be informed of air contamination levels in a timely way next time a nuclear accident occurs–not weeks later, but within hours, or at most a day.
I still think the most important thing is just to get more people aware of this. The government will only start to pay attention is a large number of Americans start demanding it. If the sorts of numbers occupying wall street suddenly rose up and expressed their outrage that the government withheld this information from us, then if nothing else the legislators in this country would have to start taking notice. But how do we get the millions of Americans who would be concerned about it if they knew about it to start paying attention.
Think of all the kids who spent an hour or so outside for recess everyday at school last April, plus gym classes, sports, and waiting for the bus. No parent would have knowingly let their children be exposed to alpha particles like americium, but they weren’t told the truth about the dangers.

Absolutely right! Parents are probably THE group we most need to reach to start to make changes! Next to corporate interests, I think parents might just be the group politicians most fear when it comes to reelection.

The sudden release, is all by private researchers.
The government plays the I didn’t know card. This is only To save face.
The truth has always been written on the wall. IE. China syndrome. Apocalypse, and End Game.
The only thing to come next grief. As this is still the news that is easy to take in. The saddest part is that the entire globe gives two sharts. As the majority of the population feels that this incident does not affect them.

It’s in many people’s bodies too, and if I am correct in inferring that it was americium that made it to Boston, that is a very nasty thing to have in your bones, liver, even testicles/ovaries, and it remains in the body a lot longer than cesium and iodine.
Americans have been Cherobylled–they lied to us just as the Soviets lied to their people (and the Japanese to theirs). And there will be health consequences as a result.

This is a repeat of information released earlier by Arnie which is why it is odd to hear him open the video with ” this is information I have been wanting to share for a long time” without explaining the reason for delay.
“If we waited for governments to release the information it would never have happened” equals the understatement of the year.

kevin. this is a progressive piece.
Arnie now has the data (that he privately collected) showing that Hot particles. (direct nuclides from a fuel source). Have indeed traveled as far as the mid west.
This is not repeat data.
The data was withheld until they could officially make said statement without a question of a doubt… Now its been verified by academics, and reverified. To ensure no mistakes have been made.
This should be 100% evidence that Even citizens of the United states west coast should consider evacuating to alternate locations…

So I finally found the actual presentation to page through…
Your statement above is so amazingly out of line with the presentation matter. I think this presentation confirms that we are NOT doomed on the West Coast. Will there be some additional cancers, yes. As Arnie points out there will be an uptick… but it’s a public health issue, not a personal health issue.

It proves that when reactor number 4 is abandoned and then crashes down (yeah, its an if, but with reactor number 5 coming into the picture as having problems…its all heading from bad to worse here) you know that the West Coast will be renamed the West Toast.

No one knows more than I,..it feels,…that the west coast has already received a death nail. Leaving will still give the stronger ones a chance. Staying,…is just like Japan,..only a few months behind them,…if I had to guess.

It certainly is a bad situation, but it will be more like years for the North American west coast. It can never get hit as hard as Honshu since most of the heavy solid ejecta has fallen back there. Not to downplay the threat though, as it rains just about everywhere in the world Fukushima fallout will eventually arrive. The Pacific Ocean and the life it contains are also a problematic vector.
